11:07 this made me tear up... I'm not particularly aiming for an ivy or anything but I still want to go to a tier 2 level school. I'm a rising junior and haven't done much my first 2 years of high school but doing my best to do more extracurriculars. This reminded me that the most important thing is gaining experience for my future, and that admissions to colleges won't be the only deciding factor of what I will do in life. Thank you for your videos, has been helping me a lot :)
I forgot I left this comment, but my view on colleges has changed a bit over the last few months. I know everyone is very stressed right now with this kind of stuff and I just want to let you guys know that as long as you work hard and take advantage of all the opportunities you have, you will be successful wherever you go. Aiming for these colleges is a good goal, however don’t forget the most important thing is gaining experience. Don’t let the tier of the college determine your life. Take this time in your life to figure out what you like and don’t like. Don’t do extracurriculars just for the extracurricular, make sure you enjoy it. Wishing you guys luck on your journey.
I already went through the college apps process (I saw your Brown portfolio when applying but that’s it). This past week I’ve been getting recommended your videos & watching them (partially because it’s really funny to see the god awful advice people are giving and successfully selling online). Instead, I was pretty surprised that you actually give crazy useful advice and don’t try to nice it up to market yourself to the helicopter parents trying to get their kids into ivies. You & I had very different processes throughout HS but I def respect everything you say in this videos and agree w/ 95% of it too. You def deserve to blow-up over the other BS test prep and college prep companies.
This third myth part is very reassuring, especially with the notion that being admitted into a good university is a reward. Appreciate you saying something unapparent for me in your videos.
You're effectively right about the 1st point !!!!! Transparency got to be thoughtfully expressed. In rage and inflicted mode of life ? Vexed up phase? Don't literally let it all out and not revolve around the lateral ways in which you can respond to what they are asking ! Craft it for real ! It feels like an endless book and mere exaggeration of current state of something that you sure can't avoid but try not go into that yk..
This this for sure one of the best perspectives that I’ve seen about the college admissions. It coming from a college student makes it even more amazing
1:44 Respectfully have to disagree with the not wanting someone with mixed interests, it certainly possibly to get in without a clear direction. Just depends if those mixed interest make you stand out as an applicant who could be a great contribution to their university.
Hi Patrik, I wanted an opinion regarding to the first point, I have just finished my first year at highschool, I live in Mexico and here we use a 0-10 system for grades instead of gpa, and my first year I had a procrastination issue and I have ADHD so i got a 9.5 my first semester and a 9.3 in the second, while there were some smart kids who got 9.9 or 9.8 in both semesters, so this will definitely hurt me in my application at a top college in the US, of course I have to do great in all aspects next years, but my question is (assuming I do great and overcome my procratination issue) would it be ok if I explain myself about it and how I was lazy my first year but then improved my life and become an excellent student, or should I avoid that part? I got your point but I ask this because they will see I don´t have a perfect grade neither I was at the top 1% of my class, and Idk if it would be worth it to explain it with a motivational story, thx for your videos keep the good work! :)
Ik I'm not him but your grades could reflect that change in amount of effort given and show an uptick in your performance, so unless you have something real I would stick to using your space in that section for something else
can you talk about better speech or public speaking skills? they way u explain things in videos, or other self improv creators do truly like gets the attentions, i want to know how do you do it? (i suck at it)
im a rising junior and i feel like i really messed up to go to my dream school (cornell). my gpa is alright (final grade reports havent come out but it seems like its above a 3.8). i feel like i've not been taking enough aps (my curriculum path allows for ~13 APs but i'll only be taking 9) and my extracurriculars are mid at best (2 clubs, held officer in one,

And one BIGG question if I'm good at swimming and basketball should I keep pursuing that? However I don't think I have any plans on going and playing during college...
@@enjoywithamayraaandvihan6157 It depends on how much time you are spending on those activities. If you spend more than 10 hours on each sport that is a lot of time that could go to something better so I would recommend stopping. But if you don't have to much activities to the point where is having large impacts on your life feel free to keep on playing.
