Hi! I’m wondering if a low grade in your native language will ruin my chances for College. My grade in every other subject is sky-high (90-90) but I’m terrible in my native language. I’m still working on my extracurriculars, but I’d say they’re quite nice (math/science comps, debate etc)

I understand that you suggested attending a smaller college, such as Carleton College, for pre-med due to different reasons. However, if I don't get accepted into medical school, how will that choice impact my future opportunities? What should I consider majoring in? I'd probably choose engineering as my second option other than being a doctor but then that would affect my GPA

It looks like I have an unreasonable number of hours on my activities section because I switched activities mid-year. So basically, I quit let's call it activity A in the middle of 10th grade and then started activity B. So the time frame I did them doesn't overlap, but because I checked 10th grade for both it looks like an insane number of hours if that makes sense. What should I do?
Explain that in the aditional info section
your weeks/yr should show that this was the case, but you can also elaborate on this in additional info!

If we completed a college course that doesn’t give credit, like one of Yales Open Courses or something, that is on a subject we want to major in and spent our free time doing, can we list that as an activity since it wont be counted as a class in our transcripts

when applying for harvard or any ivy league, where do i write or post my independent research?? could i make it into a youtube video or does it have to be some article on a website?? im a freshman in highschool right now, when applying can you post a youtube video as one of you "Extra curriculars" regarding an independent research project. Or do you post a link to your blogging website?? which one is better im kind of confused on what platform i make my research project on so its time stamped dated. which platform or format will be accepted on an application. i have around 50% grades in 9th and 10th grades, 75% in my 10th boards and 85%+ in both 11th and 12th grades with 92% in 12th boards, i was in almost every club my school offered and did a lot of muns, extracurricular work, volunteering etc outside of school. i’m applying to some of the top universities in canada with 50%-80% acceptance rates for criminal justice and psychology courses. do you think i have a good chance of getting in? i’m not sure about how they evaluate the applications but i don’t feel very good about the fact that i didn’t have good results in the first two years of high school and i don’t want that to get in the way of college admissions

I'm from Brazil and here we don't value clubs, working experience and extracurriculars in the college application. I plan to apply to universities in the USA and Europe but I don't have any awards and extracurriculars besides playing on the soccer team of my school, I`m studying a lot for the SAT but i know that a lot of students have a good score and I`m afraid that I`ll be a "weak" student. So if someone has any tip or advide I`d appreciate.
hey pratik im basically a junior who did ab/bc sophomore year and ap stat this year. do u recommend me doing calc 3 through a local college and get that cred over or should i wait till college to take calc 3. im asking because i heard colleges want to see math all 4 years
I’m a current senior taking calc 3 and it’s actually really fun. If you like math or are just naturally good at it (which I’m guessing you are) I highly recommend it! Plus you’ll be ahead when you get into college

hey Pratik! I have a question - Common App lets me apply to ED1 at one uni and ED2 at another uni. But isn't this against the agreement? Can this be done?

ED2 deadline usually is after you hear back from ED1-so you can apply ED1 somewhere, then if you’re rejected, apply ED2 somewhere else.

What If my entire highschool experience was ruined by covid? Covid happened late 8th grade, I am now a ssenior. How would I explain that Ive had serious bouts of covid that put mer out for 1 1/2 months and ruined my immune system so im constantly sick for weeks at a time. Im currently fullt virtual njow, and went virtual 2nd semester of 10th grade. How do explain that my grades are a relfection of my attendancde and not my capabilities?

Im a freshman in high school and I am taking 5 AP classes this year: AP world, AP Art History, AP psychology, AP Comp Science Principals, and AP Chemistry. I’m also taking Spanish 2, La 9, and trig/pre calc. I have 97s and 100s in all of my classes but my La 9 score is a 92. I also had a very bad test score in AP chemistry (50%) and that dropped my grade down to an 80. It’s the end of the quarter and my grades are locked in. I guess my question really is what was your lowest test score and do you think I’ll still get into a BSMD program even with my bad grades?
Dude you’re fine. If interested in bsmd focus on ecs like research sports etc. colleges see ur taking 5 aps as a freshmen (which is crazy) and they’ll understand a few poor grades here and there
Taking 5 APs as a freshman is uncommon, in a good way. You've already set yourself apart from others in that sense. And you said you have all As in your classes except for AP Chem, which is completely fine. Having one B won't do any harm, in fact, colleges will most likely understand why you may have gotten a lower grade. Your courses are VERY rigorous for a freshman, I've never much freshman take AP Chem, and 5 APs in all. Keep up the work man, you're doing great.

End of quarter shouldn't matter just get it up by the end of the semester

@@rishijoshi7989 Ye ik common app only allows you to select 9 -12, but in the activity description can you say you have been playing since kindergarten to make it sound more meaningful or do colleges not care about continuation

@@pranavgunjala3045 I mean, continuation/being consistent is very important to colleges. If you feel like adding that you've been playing chess since kindergarten will help, by all means include it. Imo, it's a waste of characters, whereas you could use that space to actually describe what you did in high school, like awards you won in chess, etc.
