    Wow! The prices you could get old Mopars for back in the day. It’s amazing that people are asking serious cash for completely rusted out shells. When I approached my wife about getting into a muscle car we originally started looking for 3rd Gen Chargers. You could get complete cars for around $2K. The wife basically told me if you really want a 2nd Gen then get what you want. Had to cask in some of my 401 K money to get one but I know I could probably triple my money if I wanted to sell. I’m glad she pushed me to pull the trigger when we did. 2nd Gen’s are just about priced out of reach for your average car enthusiasts. I love hearing the stories. You have been blessed with so many cars in your history.

    Always like your stories. Young guys in their 20s...even in their 30s, don't realized how low buck these cars were back then. Even my Chevys were a hard-sell back in the 90's. The Dukes of Hazzard, Bullitt, and Dirty Mary Crazy Larry, didn't jack up the value of these cars. It was all because of Barrett Jackson, and now Mecum....and a bunch of wealthy people (not necessarily car enthusiasts) that blew up the value. Good for the people who already own them, but bad for the younger guys trying to get into it. Maybe time to sell a couple cars to fund the keeper-cars? Keep the stories coming. Your stories are definitely worth hearing. 👍

      @TargaWheels Thanks Targa. I would add to your assertions that I think the car TV shows were not only a hit here but also over seas and widened the popularity of American Muscle Cars to other countries, increasing the demand and creating a shortage here in the states. Higher demand and an ever depleting inventory leads to high prices. I think it sucks too for the younger generations.

    Jonny, great stories. I love 3rd gen Chargers and you have some cool ones. the work on the blue one seems top notch. And I think the sunroof thing would have given me some anxiety as well. Cant wait to see whats next. I'm itching to get on my 71 Sat Sebring

      Thanks Adam. I’m a big fan of the 71-72 B bodies. The Blue one should be a pretty Bitchin car when it’s done. It’s unfortunately been waiting a long time. And I think it’s still a long way out. I can’t wait to see the magic you do on your Satellite. The Duster has been amazing.

    My first car ever was a '72 Charger, in that exact color except I had flip-up headlights. 318 car. Paid $650 back in the late '80s/early '90s. Drove it daily for a decade before rear main seal blew and I didn't have the means or knowledge to fix. Not a scratch or dent on that thing. I also realized I was driving it without a kick-down rod forever until a friend pointed it out. Oops. I didn't know ANYTHING about cars back then. Live and learn.

    • @JonnyMopar
      @JonnyMopar  9 дней назад

      @@pdiz That’s awesome. That was about the going rate for a running driving Mopar back then. I think it was the late 80’s or early 90’s seeing a 69 Charger and 71 or 72 Charger on the side of the road for sale. Both were $600 each. The 69 was primered and I think wiring was hanging out under the dash. The 71/72 still had nice factory green paint, nice interior and was a cream puff running driving car. I wish I had the money to buy both but $600 was way out of reach for me.
