I've owned this 1970 DODGE CHARGER for awhile now and it finally came home recently. It was going to be built into a PRO STREET car but the owner went with a 1970 PLYMOUTH 'CUDA instead. So my buddy ended up with the CHARGER and eventually I bought it off him for a GREAT DEAL. Never done any 330' racing before. Would make for some interesting bracket racing! Good Times Jonny!
@@TsGoodTimesGarage It’s over quick. But racing is racing so I still had fun. And it’s close to home.
1/16th of a mile.....not even worth going to.
Jonny great video, commentary and the small cameo...and nothing against the Ford fans but its a Chevy. Love my Chevrolets and Mopars of course. Bummer about Ray didn't realize that happened
@@jonathanspragle4014 Oh cool. Glad you left a comment Jon. I spelled your name wrong. What’s funny is I spell my name J-O-N as well. Jonny is the nick name I was given. Yeah, it was a bummer for Ray and he just messaged me that it gets worse. Low oil pressure. He thinks he’s hearing noises too.
It is the right way to spell it...🤣. Have a great holiday my friend.
Great video Jonny, Dorothy is bad ass. Hope the Charger is coming along well.
@@MoparJimmy Thanks Jimmy. The Charger is still waiting. But I’m hoping this is the year I make some progress in the right direction.
Wasn't Lions closed years ago in Long Beach CALIFORNIA.
@@thomasthurston6656 Definitely many years ago. Shut down in 1972 and yes, it was next to Long Beach. That car was in great shape for a car that old.
@JonnyMopar I didn't even know of Perris. I have run at LACR and Pomona. LACR was shut down years ago, and they are also closing the dirt track that was next to the 1/4 mile track.
@ And Irwindale just closed. It’s last road course race was the same day I was at Perris. Ray actually left early to go to it. I think Ray went to the last drag racing event too a week or so earlier. It’s just Barona, Perris and Pamona in So Cal.
@JonnyMopar Yes, I knew about Irwindale closing. I never ran at that track, but it's about 20 miles from home.
Dorothy is a sleeper man. Super cool that it was built on such a short timeline and budget yet, has provided years of fun.
@@sorta_stock And….Doorthy’s got Ray’s number. He’s probably gonna have deep scars over getting beat by her twice now.
Were you able to find a partial floor and a 727 tailshaft for the blue charger?
@@TargaWheels My buddy Jeremy at Shade Tree Vintage Auto on RUclips gave me a floor. I still need a trans. And I need to get my butt back on it.

@@NathansMoparGarage Yeah, me either. But it’s close and definitely still fun. Had a great time Nathan.

Hey Jonny, cool vid but 1/16th of a mile? Yikes... low gears and big converters !! Sad to see old mate go home early but thats the way the cookie crumbles sometimes and at least it wasnt a major catastrophe...Nightwrencher must have been a bit devo but did come unprepared...he did show up though so kudos
I had a few issues with tech. 100% my fault. I was so worried about the mechanical stuff that I forgot about the things needed to pass tech.
@ it happens man .. been there myself … Dicked around for 2 weeks only to be fkd over by a shitty fuel pressure reg … That’s racin
@@PeckerwoodKustoms It’s definitely short. But still fun and pretty close to home for me. Well, you heard NW. His car will be done in about a week. So we won’t have to wait much longer to see the Challenger in action. lol.
@@JonnyMopar close to home is always a win...Im about 15-20 minutes...we have driven home broken a couple times lol
@ Nice.
Hi Jonny, I had no idea this track existed
@@Dons166 I think it just opened back up about a year or two ago. So it’s pretty recent. There used to be a track there then it was shut down and now it’s back. It’s not far from me so it’s a no brainer. I wish it was an 1/8th at least but it’s better than nothing.
That pink car looked good! Sucks for ray though 😢
@@NightWrencher I told him as long as he keeps going to the track he will eventually find and fix all the issues.
Man, those 1/8 mile strips are really such puddle hops, aren't they? But glad there's still a local place to race because I'm not naive to the fact it's not exactly popular nowadays... Keep those drag strips alive and support them!
@@pdiz This one is shorter than that. It’s a 1/16th. But it is close. And still fun.

Thank God someone finally explained a timing light in more depth. You, sir, are the best guy on youtube. It is very much appreciated.
@@Aaron-hd8ql Right on Aaron. Glad the video helped. And thanks for the comment.
I been looking for a video like this to whew what the timing light is doing and how to adjust the timing at tue same time. I get it as base timing but what about ad total advance timing? Do you do the same just with high RPM? Dial it on the gun then bring it to 0 with the distributor? That’s the part that confuses me
@@geostorm9351 I’ve been meaning to do another video with a dist not locked out for clarity. But yes, you have it right. Make sure your vacuum advance line is disconnected when timing. Run the RPM high, usually around 2k RPM. But you will know how much when you increase the rpm and the line on the balancer stops advancing. In other words, at idle it’ll be in one spot, in crease RPM and it will move. When it stops moving it’s fully advanced. Then like you said adjust the timing light till the line is on zero on the timing chain cover. The number on the timing light is your current total timing. Adjust if necessary.
@ Got it. Thanks you. Every video I have watched misses exactly what to do at the same time working with the timing light gun and how to adjust it. Thanks for the info I think I got it now.
@ Right on man.
Thank you, I’ve never used a timing light because I’ve only ever worked on modern distributor-less systems. But recently I got my late mom’s 1989 Honda Accord running again. I had to rebuild the distributor because the advance plate and bearing and all that was cooked. So now I have to set the timing but it has both mechanical and vacuum advance. Didn’t know how to actually measure that with the timing light I have but this summed it up perfectly.
@@Killian665 Thanks Killian. Glad it helped. I never had a Honda in mind but it makes sense they all worked the same back then.

Good clean job johny.thanks for showing 😃The process.
thanks for sharing johny,I fixed my satellite, the problem was a loose negative wire to the coil😄
@@josepenate7367 Right on Jose. Glad you were able to figure it out.

Wire, plus I changed plugs, wires new ecu module, new starter relay, ballast resistor, cleaned grounds, check out bulk head, fuel sending, unit, everything was good,oh and i changed fuel pump pushrod,it was worn about 2 millimeters, but I know it was the coil negative. new coil also.
@@JonnyMopar I forgot the capacitor on the positive wire the wire was also barely holding on,it just broke off the can,had to buy an oem replacement, the manual says its for radio suppression, and coil spark,so that could of been part of the issue of stallings.
@@josepenate7367 You’re welcome buddy. Glad you’re making progress on your Satellite.
Another thing I learned from this video. The heads I put on my 440 (borrowed from a 383) had that extension bracket still on it, so I removed it, lol.
@@pdiz Awesome. It’s usually the Low Deck guys that don’t know you need it but it will definitely throw off your 440 if you leave it on. Glad the video helped man.
Oh man, so much good info. Currently struggling with a '73 RR. Originally a 400 w/ AC now a 440 w/o AC. Using the original '73 water pump housing (exits on the passenger side) and I think my issue is trying to use the triangular bracket/bolts. Going to try the A/C style one you showed.. Second issue is the P/S pump seems to sit slightly too forward, and cockeyed unless I push back on it, then it straightens up square. I'm sure it's my confusion of where to bolt up the BACK P/S bracket as I believe the original 400 block had an extra provision of some kind for it to bolt to the block. Front bracket seems to mount to the water pump just fine. The struggle is real!
@@pdiz I did a power steering change video on my 69 Coronet Wagon. It’s probably a different set up than yours but it might be worth checking out. I’ll see if I can link it in a response here.

@@stevodakine1 I’m still looking for the Silver bullet. I think mine isn’t too bad as long as it’s not over 90, I keep the RPMs low and O don’t climb hills like in this video.
I always love the Mopar wagons. Had one myself, 66' Fury III. Put a 440 in it with a 67' Plymouth hoodscoop, did a paint job on it and cruised it around with my family. Loved that car. Sold it in the San Mateo area in 2013. Hopefully, it was taken care of and not wrecked.
@@hemihog6250 That’s a cool wagon. Bummer you had to let it go. Wagons are cool. I think you had to have one to appreciate them. My grandfather gave my dad his 69 Chevy Kingsman. Hi Johhny , going through some of your older videos and enjoying them. I bought a 1967 383 big block off craigslist a couple years ago. It was red. I have a 65 Dodge that is a factory big block car. So my car is turquoise. When I looked it up and found out that the engine is turquoise, my heart sank. It’s just too much damn turquoise under my hood when you pop the hood. But my engine compartment is black because my car was factory a black car. When I learned that this is Mopar sin to have a black engine compartment. I like the orange look better of a big block under the hood of my car but it’s just not correct. These conundrums are quite fun, but they are big decisions. Thanks for the video.
@@maximuswedgie5149 Lol. It’s definitely a dilemma Max. My 68 Coronet is turquoise which is correct and I did the same on the 68 Charger. But on my Mom’s 72 Charger I just didn’t feel like painting the engine Blue. So I painted the 70 383 Orange, correct for the block but wrong for the car. And I got some criticism. Oh well. lol.

Hey Jonny just wanted to see how you're doing. Haven't seen a vid from you in a while. Roadkill was cancelled. From what Finnegan said, the hosts got dibs on the cars, before they're sold off. Neither him nor Freiburger mentioned wanting Mayhem. Was thinking if you had any interest in Mayhem, you could contact Freiburger to pull it for you, so you can get it back? Just a thought. BTW I'm sure those roadkill magazines are in demand....maybe high demand now. Especially the first issue. People out there still looking for the first issue. Hope you're good. Looking forward to another video from you. 👍
Hi Targa. I’m good. Been spending some time on my sons channel, Nut Job Garage. And money has been tight so can’t do any big expenditures. I would totally be interested in General Mayhem but I’m sure I’ll easily be out bid. Mayhem is actually owned by Freiburger. It was his then he sold it to Motor Trend when it got the Hellcat. Then he bought it back and rebuilt the OG motor home 440 which is in it now.
