Hear extended lows in the Black Dog, and more grinding mids and high mids in the Detroiter. It is also a bit more open. I owned a black dog and that represents well my experience. Cool pickup, solid basses, but never understood the "throaty" description. For me it was a real polished, not wild pickup. A bit like what I would imagine a Dimarzio being. Very clean, and I wanted something more Rock & Roll. Replaced it with a Cream T BFG.
Great sounds man.......I own a Black dog and was curious how it compares to the Detroiter. What guitar and amp are you using in this clip? Thanks for posting this.
Such subtle difference omg! I would say Detroiter a bit more focused and the Black Dog a bit more complex. Great playing, wow!

The Detroiters are have a better low end growl to me. Both sound great though.
Dig the more open sound of the Detroiter here. How does the Detroiter compare to the VHII?
