My thought exactly, Mel always was. Hollywood wants you to push out crap every year for da money. Legends take their time.

I really like Mel and have been a fan since the late 70's, but i'ver always felt he's quite a tortured soul for some reason. Great interviewer!

It seems to me that from "The Passion of the Christ" and this movie (especially the scene where the Japanese general is having himself beheaded in ritual seppuku), that Mel Gibson has had spiritual experiences that I can only theorize about.
I think that Mel has seen "hell", and knows, or feels that he is going there. I feel the same way but 1000 times less strongly. Perhaps I will gradually get twitchier, and more sort of paranoid ("is death's angel coming for me now?") as I grow older. Mel looks kind of terrified.
I hope he can stay on the straight and narrow, find peace, and anyway, I love his films.
"For some reason..." lol ya he's had very public alcohol issues and made some pretty crazy remarks over the years.

MG is a passionate talented actor-director who has created and acted great artistic films. But he is also a human being just like everybody who has flaws and foibles. We all need forgiveness.
I hope that he continues to fight and win his personal battles.
I hate he shaved his beard off on Kimmel. But I love Mel Gibson! I'm glad he's back working but I still want to see him star in more films as well
John Rainey he only grew his beard out for a role and decided after the role was completed was time to shave it
Mel is a great 8 man with great flaws He is a man who is always striving to be a better person
and knows he can only achieve that through GODs help daily
He reminds me of David in the Old Testament like David he was built up by his peers became absorbed in himself to the point he made his own decisions focusing everything on himself instead of focusing on GOD then it all came apart and he fell from grace only for GOD to intercede and show his unconditional love and for Mel / David to realise they cannot survive without GODs direction / love in their lives . So then they became humble before GOD . That’s the joy of personally having a relationship with GOD , GOD will ALWAYS show forgiveness and Love . Blessed us he who walks in the way of the Lord as Mel is

I worked with Mel on Forever Young in a very small part. The whole day was cut from the film.. BUT I was close to him all day and those beautiful blue eyes and smile. He was a really nice and funny man. I enjoyed him. I did NOT enjoy everyone in Hollywood. I was one foot away from him when after getting ice cream all over his shirt ( part of the scene) he ripped off his shirt and was naked from the waist up. He was People Magazines Sexiest man in 1992 and yes he was! :)

@@raziamondal8007 I worked with both Mel and Elijah Wood in those scenes. All 3 of us have intense blue eyes. Mel had kind of dark blue eyes with that dark hair, Elijah had the biggest bright but lighter blue, and people are always telling me my eyes are ocean blue. I was sad my parts did not make the cut. The scenes really did not drive the narrative, but I still enjoyed the day.

Kjersti, you are the best celebrity interviewer I've seen... I love that you ask deep and meaningful questions and you seem genuinely curious about their answers. . Every interview has an authentic quality that most other celeb interviews lack. Have you ever asked a celebrity if they wanted to live forever, if the movie had an immortality plot? That would be a fun question.

No. You're right. Noone sane would ever wanna live forever. At least, not if they can help it.
I think that is an important question. Because, people with faith in Jesus Christ as the Saviour of the world have hope of eternal life. Jesus took our sins upon His sinless body and died the death penalty we are all under. He then resurrected to defeat death! Our hope lies in a resurrection for us who trust in Jesus' work to save us. We are all going to die. Our only hope lies in a resurrection. The only one to have resurrected, never to die again, is Jesus Christ, God who came in the flesh to take our sin and death upon Himself to defeat it! People talk about faith faith faith but it means nothing when it is just an idea with no foundation or hope lying ahead. The Bible tells us that if we trust in Jesus, we have eternal life. That is a sure hope. That is someone to place our faith in.
I'm not a Christian, but I think "eternal" in Christianity is not the same with "immortality" in physical sense, as Mel suggested. Eternal in religious (any) term is just fine, and I quite agree, since it's a matter of faith. But to actually live forever physically as a human being? >shudder
I love you Mel! Hacksaw is absolutely amazing!!! You deserved an Oscar no doubt about it!

Mel and Andrew laid it out perfectly on where the cinematic world is and it's center in "Hollywood". This view also applies outside the movie bizz, but stretches out to humanity all together. Indeed the focus has become ourselves. But there is a far greater in God. Christ is where the "Kidney" should lie; all our thoughts and actions should feed into that kidney which is God, therefore what we put into our kidney should be healthy, or it will be rejected... not filtered by the most high.
Mel is the most honest down to earth "actor" you'll ever see. He hates hollywood for good reason! His heart has always been in it but unfortunately HW didn't like it so he'll remain a legend always because he didn't succumb to the BS HW really is. I really wish I could say the same for some of my favorite actors. Well use to be my favorites. Mel is and always will be my fave!

He can come across as being...frenetic. I remember a story he told about his odd medical condition of having a horseshoe shaped kidney which means extra amounts of adrenal gland. Do not know if he was serious with that story or not.

Amen! I want a deeper sense of my spirituality. I long for a closer connection to God! I’m really tired of main stream. I don’t let my kids watch tv like that either. Veggiestales and documentaries haha. My six year old and I watched the passion this Easter. :)

We love you Mel. I think it's pretty obvious from all the comments below. A lot have realized that you were on to something. Creating our own platforms will ensure true expression.
Mel may have his share of demons that he's constantly fighting, but he's a good man. You can't be a bad guy and direct a movie like "Hacksaw Ridge" (which I haven't seen but I know it's good) and "The Passion of the Christ". You can't. It's impossible.

I think it is easier to act when you believe in it. Andrew Garfield act in another great movie about faith - Silence. There is few people left that are not afraid publicly consume faith, but that is all we take, few decent people in this harsh times. I hope that these two gentlemen's keep doing superb films on the delight of all spectators
