FYI you have account pirates trolling. I just got messaged
Hey man awesome videos we watch them at the fire station all day. What would be a good starter gun for up around the crystal river area? You’ve gotten us all hooked now! Keep it up!!!
Do some pole spearing in the keys. Love your commentary!
I LOVE the name!
4 things I loved about this....1) you give the pros and cons about this gun, very upfront and honest 2) you own your mistakes 3) you always treat the fish the right way when you take them 4) you took your old wing girl with you. Amazing how many people don't think about doing what is necessary to insure the top quality of the meat. It doesn't take much.
can't thank you enough for the kind words! 🙏
Pure respect 💯
Right on all counts. Good observation. 💯
Just got 9 inches of fresh snow.....thanks for helping me forget my snow-shoveling induced body aches. Lime.
oh boy! stay warm!
Happy birthday Aaron! I may be halfway across the globe but I've been watching you a couple years now & you've been a big inspiration for starting my spearfishing adventures! Watching your content has made me appreciate how beautiful the underwater world is and I can't believe how much I took for granted the Great Barrier Reef here at home.
Thank you for everything you do, you are an awesome fella and it's been awesome watching you grow.
I can't free dive without hearing the words "Welcome back underwater everybody" in my head. Ahaha
Thanks mate, Enjoy your day!
haha thanks so much really do love to hear that! 🙏 keeps me going!
@@KeyWestWaterman Happy Belated Birthday Aaron 🌊🚣🏝️🏖️🌅🎉(I went a little over board with those. Lol. Over board, get it?) Lol
"The Grover" - Dope name!
As a Gheenoe classic owner, I cant wait to see your new ride.
so pumped for it!
Monday evenings I find myself reloading my RUclips feed consistently just for these videos, thanks for sharing your passion Aaron!
Hey Sir you got my brother's name 🙂, well first name at least lol
haha love to hear it!
I think my favourite part was the voice creak at 1:44 😂
lol
Key key West waterman unseen your videos in awhile I really like them really like when u have a good good catch and give us a commercial break down Vincent
glad you enjoyed it! I'll get to one next time I go commercial
Epic mate , keen!
thanks for watching!
Grover would be a cool name for the guns!!
I thought it was!
Cool looking guns buddy. I love how you show your misses and keep it real. You don't blame the gun or edit them out for the "highlight reel".
doing my best to do so! thanks for watching sir!
I lived in The Keys in the '80s & '90s and watching your videos makes me forget all my worries by transporting me back to what was, without a doubt, the best period of time in my life; so thanks! (before someone asks, *I had to leave* to take a job)
Worked at Eastern Express Airlines at MIA and we had tons of folks who lived in the Keys and they would commute to the airport. Weekends were Grand down with the Bean 👍🙏
really love to hear you enjoy them!
@@tonygville2969 I don't remember the airline names as that changed several times but in those days the 'Bandit' was prominent on inter-Florida routes and sometimes Cessna 402's would do the MTH & EYW run up to MIA. Towards the end of the '90s the SAAB 340 came into the picture and somebody flew Beechcraft turboprops for a short while.
@@Matt_from_Florida Eastern Express flew down to Key West and it would be a Cessna or the Saab 34B. They only had 17, 19 or 30ish passengers. The Saab was the only one with a can.
I got to clean the airplanes inside and out. The first night on the job, all 4 of my crew quit and I did them myself. Bar harbor Maine was stoked with the shiney planes. Got to go to Buenos Aries Argentina for a week , and lost my passport 😑
But from what I remember, I had a blast and they have the best steak, Ever 👍
But going to dinner at 1100pm is a little late, even back in 1986ish. ✌️😀
@@Matt_from_Florida We called them puddle jumpers 👍
Thumbs up on explaining the guns and letting people with less experience know what the guns are meant for... are you gonna have the custom Arron Young / Bob Ross line ? maybe with a Lil tree painted on it? Haha sorry Sir couldnt help myself.
😂
Love when you take the pooch fishing. Re growths: if you’re keen on learning more, I bet URI’s School of Oceanography would be too.
she can be a handful but loves it out there! and im gonna try to find someone who can do some test on them!
THE GROVER is a badass name. The stamp would be tight
🙏
That gun is so amazing. Definitely put the mangrove on it. We love when you do insure spearfishing and fishing. My family can’t wait for another video. Guys are awesome. Good job brother.
thanks as always!
Bro! Have you ever seen snapper with growth like that outside of KW? I grew up down there and we got them quite a bit, but I’ve never seen a single one away from there? Last time I gave the fish to FWC for testing, they confirmed it was NOT cancerous or anything, just kinda weird. Now I’m in Brevard County, and no more weird growth… Also good show as usual bro, keep up the awesome work.
honestly I can't remember I wanna so no. would love to hear the info on someone testing it though
Working now, order completed 😁 Thank you ❗️ Can't wait for the Torch Keys
thanks so much! 🙏
the first SMG spear gun! Like always a great video. 🐐
thanks for tuning in!
Cool video bro,I never get tired of you shooting mangoes
me neither! glad you enjoyed it
@@KeyWestWaterman always do
Very relaxing!! Definitely one of my favorite things you do on the channel probably because I think that's what I'd really enjoy doing. It's like exploring hunting fishing all put together
its my favorite never gets old!
The Grover sounds like an appropriate name for this gun. Great video. Really enjoyed it.
glad you enjoyed it!
You already have a gun named after a fruit. Why not name this one the mango gun and keep the fruit theme and the Mangrove snapper name!
not a terrible idea! I appreciate it!
Whenever me and my family are bored, we always relax and watch your vids keep it up 👍 ✨✨
love to hear yall enjoy them!
Congrats on a great design! John makes a great gun. I’ve been shooting a Koah for 10+ years.
he really does! thank you!
3 misses… very rare but like seeing them and the explanation on why. Learning experiences…. On the growth you should You should contact Mote marine and see if they want a fish with one to get some more info on them. Would be a cool video, fish geek in me….
actually not a terrible idea! would be an interesting video!
The Grover is perfect. Should do a stamp of a likeness of Grover!
haha thanks for the feedback!
you should put an outline of Grover is a blue Muppet from Sesame Street on it, maybe snorkeling or something…
love your work keep up the great job next time i’m done i’m booking some of your time
haha
I believe you pretty much nailed it with “The ‘grover”
haha glad you like it!
Wow. They look good. That seems like a lot of firepower for a dirty shallow water gun - (double 18/19mm bands). We do a lot of low vis / reef and cave shooting here in SA and anyything more than a single 16mm band on a 1m gun just destroys the fish and the pranger heads we use.
for the most part everything you shoot at is soft back here, but the fish are fast
Great video! Glad to see Tipsy on the boat! Thanks for all the great content!
thanks for tuning in!
Huge Fan! Love the name you chose! If you ever are in need or want some Dibs On Bottom custom tumblers made, I’m your girl! Looking forward to next weeks video!
thanks so much! and love to hear it! 🙏
Always good footage. Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉
glad you enjoyed it! thank you!
Great video Dibs! Some great shots out there. Really cool that you show yourself missing shots and you explain how and why you missed. Keep them coming.
try to keep it real!
I haven't tuned in for a while. Thank you for another chill underwater adventure.
Thanks for coming along!
Fantastic. Man, your videos are always stacked with beta. Always learn so much more than I’d expect. Thank you for all your efforts.
🙏
That's crystal clear compared to rhode island diving. I would be over the moon with that clarity
haha I believe it.
Thanks Aaron for sharing awesome videos
happy to!
Awesome, can't wait to get mine in. Thanks Aaron!
thanks so much! 🙏
Love your content!!! Never a disappointment. As soon as I am finished with school, I will be ordering a Grover! Thank you Mr Aaron and keep the videos coming!
love to hear it! thanks so much 🙏
I'm just enjoying the video until the explanation of the speargun and at that point Aaron made me go cross-eyed. But then lo and behold "there's will" swimming up out of nowhere to come to the rescue... Now I'm enjoying the video again...lol TNX 4 VID lol
Will,,, don't you dare try to cook that thing...
haha
The Grover, great name!
I thought so!
Aaron you never fail to provide knowledge and entertainment. Thank you for all your provide to this community! 🙏🏼
im trying! love to hear it!
Those mangroves are so cool! I can see why you’re out there so often. What a blessing of a backyard. Currently prepping for a Nor’easter up here in Boston 😝
never gets old out there!
Nice video Aaron. If you’re underwater, we’re happy. Look forward to these Monday night vids very much. Honest reviews too.
thanks so much!
Mangrove leaf sounds dope
thanks for the feedback!
Another outstanding video. The new guns look amazing..
glad you enjoyed it! love how they came out!
The Grover i like it. or The Nanner is cool. And don't worry about all the missed shot's that what you call keeping RUclips real lol. Very cool gun I like it. It would be great for us Midwest Guy's shooting carp in muddy river water
haha glad you enjoyed it! thanks so much
Still testing my first couple of solid teak guns. Built several laminated blanks as well. Ill be shaping and fitting those in the next few weeks. Thank you for such informative videos. Awesome inspiration 👏
thats awesome love to hear it!
If you ever get an answer to what the growths are or what the cause is, will you do a short follow up video? Just curious, great videos, keep up the great work. Thanks!
I will gladly, gonna try to see if I can make a video on it.
Another great video, of course. New gun looks awesome, Grover is a good name, I do like the previous suggested Mang Bang, keep up the amazing work, stay safe my friend.
thanks for tuning in as always! 🙏 appreciate the feedback
Another great video. Congratulations to Jack on the win. Go Team Simrad.
Best wishes,
Micky C
thanks so much!
Great vid , very interesting . Pay attention and you can learn quite a bit
thanks for watching!
Great! It's gotta be nice to be able to work out any issues while using it, too! 😁👍
love the process!
KWW fam I’m here
Those little guns would do well in the shallow merky waters here in some rivers
thats what they were built for!
I still hunt with an AMF VOIT SWIMMASTER 1970. She has been rebuilt over the years.still a beast..not for shooting mangos.great video...
thats a hell of a run!
Love mondays for this exact reason, never change the upload date please lol
haha no plans to!
Open track with one wrap of line like you have is the way to go, easy and fast to load. Nice little gun
love them set up that way, double wrap is over kill.
damn that dog is so cute!!
she sure is!
Ninja snappers I like that😄😄😄 great content as always bro god bless
haha right
Living the life spearing with your pup waiting in the boat! Awesome video
Was a great day! She loves the boat
the grover is fire 🔥
love them so far!
I would like to see a vid maybe comparing different types/styles of spear guns, maybe their intended or practical purpose for each style, and a tutorial on the functions and use. Im sure there are other vids out there, but i feel like your explanation may be a little more clear and understandable.
I've had over 20 neck and back surgeries. I find loading my gun causes alot of pain somedays and is difficult in my bad days. I would love to know what gun is easy to draw the bands back and still be effective. I don't know how woman load the guns.
I will add it to the list! appreciate the feedback!
@@KeyWestWaterman yessirrrrr.... appreciate the content!
Great video the best wat to get into spearfishing , shallow mangroves or nearshore shallow patch reefs!
its a great place to start thats for sure!
Love it already… ordered already!! 😊
thanks so much! 🙏
I like the Grover !!!
🙏
Love the name Grover!!
🙏
Should definitely call it THE MANGO.
haha love it
Great video!
glad you enjoyed it!
Yess prototype!! Cant wait to buy one Aaron!!
also Grover sounds fire
can't thank you enough!
Great video, love the name for the gun, "The Grover"👍👍😎
thanks for watching!
Awesome. Good choice IMO on the enclosed track. Just ordered one! Would also be interested in buying a spare shaft.
can't thank you enough! and John has plenty you can send him an email could just throw it in when the gun ships. but to be honest one of my favorite things about these short guns is that shafts are extremely hard to bend because they are so short and stout. in the 12 ish years I've had my 36" I've bent one shaft ever.
@@KeyWestWaterman Good to know about the shafts. Looking forward to getting mine!
This video is next level💪 good job
glad you enjoyed it!
The Grover is a great name! Good video and very informative as always.. before you had said the grover I was thinking the "Mang Bang" but grover is better. Thanks as always.
haha thanks for the feedback!
FINALLY subscribed after enjoying all your great videos! I’ve seen them all!! Particularly enjoyed your personal journey to where you are and the “not an interview for every job”! Grew up fly fishing in Scotland. Fished for White Marlin on La Guaira Bank many yrs ago and now fly fishing in MI!! My best memories are of fishing the flats with Mike W down there in Key West. Not sure if he’s still guiding. Keep up the good work & for sharing your passion. Sincerely Nelson
welcome to the channel love to hear it! 🙏
4 for 7 ain’t too shabby. Grover Gun sounds good, and please bring back the intro so I don’t have to go to the old episodes for a fix 😂. Take care always Dibs
haha not a bad start. and I honestly just forgot to add it a couple times and no-one ever said anything so I just ended up leaving it out lol!
@@KeyWestWaterman The beauty of that intro is that it’s catchy, short and sweet and to the point. Maybe a vote! Love the channel, all the best.
yay the Grover is a great name!!! part of me feels the outline of a snapper would be better then leaf but the leaf would be classier for sure
thanks for the feedback!
I want to thank you for the great content, I was on just on a 2 week Caribbean Cruise and tried ceveche and poke for the 1st time and I'm hooked, if not for you And will I would of never tried it, thanks again..
love to hear you enjoy it!
NICE! Congrats! Good explanation.
😄👍👏👏👏
thanks for watching!
Could you do a tabletop, breakdown tutorial of the anatomy of a spear gun so we can see all the parts up close, and how it actually works?
I will try to cover it!
Do you take clients out on the small boat? Was just thinking about how awesome and less intimidating a three hour charter/instruction/introduction into spearfishing in shallow water would be. 8am-11am, get some exercise, maybe get some fish for dinner, learn or get better at spearfishing and still be back to join friends on Duval by noon. Great vid as always.
I haven't in the past but i'm considering doing it once I get the new boat made.
@@KeyWestWaterman I think there is a real opportunity there. Family comes down for a few days, dad (or mom) needs a breather, gets out on the beautiful skinny water, sees the Keys like no other boat can show...learns to spearfish, gets a few snapper for dinner... and you spend $2 in gas. I'm heading down right after mini season for a big family function, I would happily spend a few hundred to get away from them for a couple hours!
The Grover is a dope name! Definitely go with that
thank you!
Good looking spear gun! Will defiantly consider buying one ! After all cant have enough of them ... need back ups you know... lol Wifey has 40 pairs of shoes .. seems fitting to have another spear gun !!!!! Be a nice turning 60 year old b-day present to myself !!! LOL Looking forward to the boat build !!!!! Thanks for sharing Aaron!! Cheers !!!
haha love it! 😂
As a veterinarian those growths remind cancer. Next time you find one cut it, refrigerate, and if you have a vet for your animals ask him or her if willing to test the growth. Would be interesting if it's cancer what type and why in certain fish. It appears that sharks do not get cancer. You might be into something. I would test for free if you are my client. Cheers.
Dr. Arenas D.V.M
Could be a benign growth as a response to an injury. Not necessarily an environmental toxin induced cancer. Would be interesting to see the pathology.
may be a good idea for a video! I appreciate the feedback!
Seen it was ur birthday brother... happy birthday and hope u enjoyed ur day
thank you!
caught thousands of mangroves in the gulf and tampa bay and never seen a growth... wild
yea its wild I feel like I've only seen it down here.
always love your videos, hope that swell Pro drone link sparked your interest.
thanks for tuning in! 🙏
I’m missing your cooking segments! Hope to see return to that format sometime soon 😉
they will be back I promise!
Thanks for all the great videos Aaron, I enjoy the heck out of them and I've learned a ton. I only got into spearfishing a few years ago here in Santa Barbara, CA using a hand-me-down A.B. Biller mostly for reef fish. In the past I've used pre-made bands from JBL but I've started getting in to tying my own bands, guided by Rob Allen's videos.
If you can get to it, it would be sweet if you did a video on tying bands - general guidelines for length, width, different knots, etc. Given your wealth of experience in multiple conditions with multiple setups, it would be great to hear your two cents with a couple tricks of the trade.
P.S. The Grover is a killer name. I dig the mangrove leaf idea, and/or even some roots if it can be done in a small space with a stamp. All the best man, thanks again!
thats awesome love to hear it! and I've been tying my bands since forever, I try to encourage everyone to make their own. not only to save money but to ensure quality. I'll try to squeeze a video in! thanks so much for the feedback really appreciate it!
Great video
glad you enjoyed it sir!
Move over rover and let The Grover take over. Love the name!
haha!
Good looking Gun! In my opinion Koah makes the best dive guns around!
John for sure has it dialed in!
Hello guys welcome back again
thanks for tuning in!
Nice gun 👍
love how they turned out!
Ordered mine this week, I bet it's the first one you're sending to Kentucky😁
Watching this video as the snow flies, nice break. For a gun intended to be shot into holes and the probability of bending a shaft on a larger fish, would the enclosed track be more of a problem than open track with a slightly wonky shaft. Just a thought.
haha stay warm! and we took that into consideration. but a shaft this short is very hard to bend. my original 36" I've had for about 12-13 years now and have bent one shaft ever with it. shooting black groupers up to 30 lbs. also to avoid the possibility of ripping the track out on short hole shots we kept the front 1/3 of the track open longer than the normal open section on enclosed guns. hope that makes sense
love your vids
love to hear it!
Must be a good gun, Will got one :)
haha!
The Grover. sesame street Grover Blue G on the handle or a Flying Grover with a cape
haha
Who's your buddy in the boat there with you. Don't remember seeing him around the hacienda. Mabe I just missed him/or her. Love dogs, especially one's that like boats and water. Another very cool video AARON. Good lesson for me as well.
thats will, he's my roommate. probably been in about 100 of my videos. lol
@@KeyWestWaterman I know Will,LOL, I was talking about the Dog I saw in the Geeneew, LOL. THANKS for the respond though.
