Hey man awesome videos we watch them at the fire station all day. What would be a good starter gun for up around the crystal river area? You’ve gotten us all hooked now! Keep it up!!!
4 things I loved about this....1) you give the pros and cons about this gun, very upfront and honest 2) you own your mistakes 3) you always treat the fish the right way when you take them 4) you took your old wing girl with you. Amazing how many people don't think about doing what is necessary to insure the top quality of the meat. It doesn't take much.
Happy birthday Aaron! I may be halfway across the globe but I've been watching you a couple years now & you've been a big inspiration for starting my spearfishing adventures! Watching your content has made me appreciate how beautiful the underwater world is and I can't believe how much I took for granted the Great Barrier Reef here at home. Thank you for everything you do, you are an awesome fella and it's been awesome watching you grow. I can't free dive without hearing the words "Welcome back underwater everybody" in my head. Ahaha Thanks mate, Enjoy your day!
I lived in The Keys in the '80s & '90s and watching your videos makes me forget all my worries by transporting me back to what was, without a doubt, the best period of time in my life; so thanks! (before someone asks, *I had to leave* to take a job)
Worked at Eastern Express Airlines at MIA and we had tons of folks who lived in the Keys and they would commute to the airport. Weekends were Grand down with the Bean 👍🙏
@@tonygville2969 I don't remember the airline names as that changed several times but in those days the 'Bandit' was prominent on inter-Florida routes and sometimes Cessna 402's would do the MTH & EYW run up to MIA. Towards the end of the '90s the SAAB 340 came into the picture and somebody flew Beechcraft turboprops for a short while.
@@Matt_from_Florida Eastern Express flew down to Key West and it would be a Cessna or the Saab 34B. They only had 17, 19 or 30ish passengers. The Saab was the only one with a can. That gun is so amazing. Definitely put the mangrove on it. We love when you do insure spearfishing and fishing. My family can’t wait for another video. Guys are awesome. Good job brother.
Very relaxing!! Definitely one of my favorite things you do on the channel probably because I think that's what I'd really enjoy doing. It's like exploring hunting fishing all put together
Great video Dibs! Some great shots out there. Really cool that you show yourself missing shots and you explain how and why you missed. Keep them coming.

Love your content!!! Never a disappointment. As soon as I am finished with school, I will be ordering a Grover! Thank you Mr Aaron and keep the videos coming!
4 for 7 ain’t too shabby. Grover Gun sounds good, and please bring back the intro so I don’t have to go to the old episodes for a fix 😂. Take care always Dibs
Another great video, of course. New gun looks awesome, Grover is a good name, I do like the previous suggested Mang Bang, keep up the amazing work, stay safe my friend.
Those mangroves are so cool! I can see why you’re out there so often. What a blessing of a backyard. Currently prepping for a Nor’easter up here in Boston 😝
Thumbs up on explaining the guns and letting people with less experience know what the guns are meant for... are you gonna have the custom Arron Young / Bob Ross line ? maybe with a Lil tree painted on it? Haha sorry Sir couldnt help myself.
I would like to see a vid maybe comparing different types/styles of spear guns, maybe their intended or practical purpose for each style, and a tutorial on the functions and use. Im sure there are other vids out there, but i feel like your explanation may be a little more clear and understandable.
I've had over 20 neck and back surgeries. I find loading my gun causes alot of pain somedays and is difficult in my bad days. I would love to know what gun is easy to draw the bands back and still be effective. I don't know how woman load the guns.
can't thank you enough! and John has plenty you can send him an email could just throw it in when the gun ships. but to be honest one of my favorite things about these short guns is that shafts are extremely hard to bend because they are so short and stout. in the 12 ish years I've had my 36" I've bent one shaft ever.
3 misses… very rare but like seeing them and the explanation on why. Learning experiences…. On the growth you should You should contact Mote marine and see if they want a fish with one to get some more info on them. Would be a cool video, fish geek in me….
Wow. They look good. That seems like a lot of firepower for a dirty shallow water gun - (double 18/19mm bands). We do a lot of low vis / reef and cave shooting here in SA and anyything more than a single 16mm band on a 1m gun just destroys the fish and the pranger heads we use.
Bro! Have you ever seen snapper with growth like that outside of KW? I grew up down there and we got them quite a bit, but I’ve never seen a single one away from there? Last time I gave the fish to FWC for testing, they confirmed it was NOT cancerous or anything, just kinda weird. Now I’m in Brevard County, and no more weird growth… Also good show as usual bro, keep up the awesome work.
I want to thank you for the great content, I was on just on a 2 week Caribbean Cruise and tried ceveche and poke for the 1st time and I'm hooked, if not for you And will I would of never tried it, thanks again..

Thanks for all the great videos Aaron, I enjoy the heck out of them and I've learned a ton. I only got into spearfishing a few years ago here in Santa Barbara, CA using a hand-me-down A.B. Biller mostly for reef fish. In the past I've used pre-made bands from JBL but I've started getting in to tying my own bands, guided by Rob Allen's videos. If you can get to it, it would be sweet if you did a video on tying bands - general guidelines for length, width, different knots, etc. Given your wealth of experience in multiple conditions with multiple setups, it would be great to hear your two cents with a couple tricks of the trade. P.S. The Grover is a killer name. I dig the mangrove leaf idea, and/or even some roots if it can be done in a small space with a stamp. All the best man, thanks again!
thats awesome love to hear it! and I've been tying my bands since forever, I try to encourage everyone to make their own. not only to save money but to ensure quality. I'll try to squeeze a video in! thanks so much for the feedback really appreciate it!

But then lo and behold "there's will" swimming up out of nowhere to come to the rescue... Now I'm enjoying the video again...lol TNX 4 VID lol Will,,, don't you dare try to cook that thing...
Watching this video as the snow flies, nice break. For a gun intended to be shot into holes and the probability of bending a shaft on a larger fish, would the enclosed track be more of a problem than open track with a slightly wonky shaft. Just a thought.
haha stay warm! and we took that into consideration. but a shaft this short is very hard to bend. my original 36" I've had for about 12-13 years now and have bent one shaft ever with it. shooting black groupers up to 30 lbs. also to avoid the possibility of ripping the track out on short hole shots we kept the front 1/3 of the track open longer than the normal open section on enclosed guns. hope that makes sense

The problem with al enclosed track is when your shaft bends. Best option is using a slip tip shaft
if your shaft bends you should't be shooting it, a shaft this short is extremely difficult to bend.

Have any ideas on where you think the growths could be from? Looks like some are near the corner of the mouth, maybe from a hook?
Ya my guess as well. Some sort of injury.
honestly I have no idea, I've seen them all over the bodies.

Could be a benign growth as a response to an injury. Not necessarily an environmental toxin induced cancer. Would be interesting to see the pathology.
may be a good idea for a video! I appreciate the feedback!
NICE! Congrats! Good explanation.
