Liqcreate Wax Castable 3D Printer Resin [HONEST REVIEW]

- Wax Castable resins can often be tricky, requiring extra thick supports and tricky cleaning / curing processes. Liqcreate seems to be something different, so I was keen to give it a try.
I've tried a lot of castable resin over the years and the price generally reflects the capability of the product. For that reason I wasn't hopeful of this Liqcreate product. I expected setting issues, printing difficulties, burnout residue and poor castings. But I couldn't have been more wrong.
Liqcreate has impressed me. From the easily accessible support information on their website, right through to the final cast. It's certainly a product I'd encourage anyone to try.

That casting seemed flawless to me. Great job on modelling too!
Thank you very much!
Sunlu _used_ to use those same bottles for their resin, I loved them. Unfortunately they seem to have switched to the same ol' plastic bottles most other vendors use as of late. I kept all of those empty aluminuim bottles for storing excess resin from different mixes I've made; they're perfect for that. Pour in some IPA and shake it to clean out an empty bottle.
Good tip. They ARE nice bottles 😁
Being new to the 3d printing world I had no idea that these kinds of resins existed. Thanks for the introduction to new possibilities 😎
We're all learning all the time. It's amazing the things that are possible thanks to 3D printing. 😁
I just bought a phrozen printer and started researching stuff as a beginner. Man, I LOVE your channel!! You offer so much insight and your videos are so pleasing and easy to watch. U've got to be the best channel of this kind. Thanks for taking the time to do it man
Thanks very much 😁
Thank you for testing and reviewing our product! Looks great!
One tip for people working in colder areas, if you place the bottle (cap closed) in a bucket of hot water. the resin is easily heated up and you can actually print some hours in a cold environment. the leftover resin will turn solid on the part after printing, but in an ultrasonic bath of >19C it will melt and clean it properly.
Thanks for the opportunity to review your resin. I think it's clear from the review that I liked it.
Thanks also for the useful tips you've shared here 😁
Good evening! Do you ship to Brazil?
Glad to see you're still Vogging here.
What an excellent review! Your test part medallion is impressive.
Thank you very much! 😁
Excellent work! When you put the piece in the ultrasonic cleaner to remove the investment, what is the green liquid/if mixed with water what ratio? What temperature and time do you use for this step? I am thinking about buying a blasting cabinet to use with my pressure washer to devest but as a home hobbiest it it is more convenient to use the ultrasonic cleaner. Thank you for the videos!!
Thanks as usual, brilliant and honest reviews, it would be interesting to see how much power the kiln draws...
Have to see if these guys will deliver to Aus.
Great video VOG MAN ;) hope you are doing good bud, we like the resin and been testing it a lot lately.
Thanks for stocking this product in the UK for us. So often we Brits miss out on good stuff because companies fail to take the needs of consumers into account. I was glad to list and mention you in this video - you deserve our support 😁
It's affordable, easy to use (well if you can afford to heat your house this winter!) but I do like the sound of this stuff.
I'm moving into my printer enclosure. 😁
@@vogman Only if there is enough room for me too! 🤣🤣
@@vogman Why not move your printer enclosure to the tropics?
I'll pack my suitcase 😁😁😁
@@vogman It's a good option.

I had to go to great expense to obtain them. It wasn't easy 😉😂🤣
Jeez, not only have you taken RUclips's inconveniences in stride, but you're absolutely running with it! Love the intro :)
We have to try buddy, that's what it's all about 😁
@@vogman yes sir!
Off topic, but, I think, a good question: Is Geoff looking at any 3D scanners? I will be doing my own research for a buy, but I'd definitely wait for Geoff's word if he has anything in the pipeline for review.
Who've you been talking to? I'm looking over a scanner right now 😁
@@vogman Hehe. It's just a logical step on the journey we are both on. And you are always many steps ahead! Look forward to your discoveries!
nice VOG/MAN. i live in the Netherlands never know that company so thank you i going to test it.
Hope you enjoy it! 😁
Have you ever dabbled with making your own alloys Geoff? I like bronze, but it's not always the color I want. Premixed white bronze is ok, but I feel like I burn out a lot of the zinc and haven't had great success with it. A little intimidated to try making my own alloys since it can be expensive to track down some of the trace metals.
Also, at least in your videos you're always using ancient bronze and it looks great...what temp are you setting your furnace to? I have noticed conflicting temps on Rio's website between the print on the site and the MSDS. When I contacted them the representative gave me a temp that was definitely wrong so I don't think that particular person knew anything about that particular topic. Just curious what works for you as I kind of feel like I've been winging it. Working, but always wonder if things could be better. Experimentation is great, but expensive in time!
Just wanted to say, you’re the reason I bought a d2
You'll love it. I do 😁
@@vogman so far so good. new to resin printing so a slight learning curve. but i've taken advice from you and others here on youtube and have been making successful prints for the most part. look forward to your next video.
What is the cleaning solution you use in ultrasonic cleaner?
Just laundry detergent and a little citric acid
I've used 'their' wax resin before, it was pretty decent to print with.
Has a nice texture and feel to it heh, even though it's meant to be casted and burnt.
Yes... a bit expensive for just "ordinary" resin, but as a castable resin, it's pretty good 😁
Are you meant to use the hotbox without the enclosure on the 3d printer? I dont see why you cant just leave the lid on, itll still heat up all the same.
If you keep the lid on, you prevent the heat getting in. With the lid off, everything is the same temperature 😁
Very nice!
I like it!
It looked like it burned out more cleanly than Siraya Tech Cast purple. Does it burn out more cleanly than Siraya Tech Cast Blue?
I haven't done much with True Blue yet so it's hard to be certain. I will say this was easier to print with, but time ultimately shows the answer.

I would like to point out that if you look at the casting the area below the sprue attachment spot. You start to get a little degradation , the top half is excellent . Your sprueing location is trapping ash and gasses can't back around the corner. You are using a tall enough flask to accommodate moving the sprue to the bottom. Also smooth out all transitions. I have been a caster for 45 years, it can be very rewarding.
Thank you John, I completely agree in honesty. I normally attach my sprue at the lowest point, as was done with wax casting to allow as much of the wax as possible to run freely from the flask. However in this instance I was being deliberately hard on this resin, testing if it really does completely burn away. I think given what I hard time I gave it, we can agree that it did a pretty good job. But thanks for your input. I truly value to opinion of those with real world experience 😁👍👍👍
Wow, that print came out so crisp! The cast was stellar, too!
Thank you! Cheers! 😁
@@vogman Beautiful cast, great review as always VOG! Liqcreate resins are amazing, you should test their engineering resins; in my experience they are competitive with expensive top-line industrial SLA production.
Hello, you describe flipping flask after an hour in the oven. Can you explain that to me? Isn't an hour too soon? The wax hasn't come out yet. Thanks for the info and your videos, they help me a lot.
Is that what I say? I can't be sure without replaying the video, but typically, you begin with the button upside down so wax, etc, can drip out. Then, after the hottest burnout temperature and at least an hour before pour, you rotate the flask 180 degrees to help any trapped gasses escape 😁
LONG LIVE VOGMAN! That cast was so super clean. Well done
Thank you kindly! 😁
i really dont know why you dont use a reptile heat mat. you can buy ones that can set temps and just put it under the printer. jobs a good'n. or since you have that whambam. you could just put it in the corner. ;P
What is exposure time you used?
Very impressive. Great work and cast.
Thank you very much!
1:45 Why does our wives don’t support our alternative hobbies. 😢😅
After your video about Photon D2 and I thank you for, I have purchased a D2 too. Please help me about how do you use Lichee Slicer if , as I know until this moment, Lichee does not yet suport The Anycubic Photon D2. How do you use Lichee? Thank you so much VOG . :)
Vogman, great job, wich one would you say is the best castable resin for Photon D2? Do you have the parameters to work with XOne (bluecast) on the Photon D2? :) Have a nice day.
I have a question about the vaccume rig that you use, how many items have you cast at once? im thinking about picking one up to do some small scale production work and if its only strong enough to do a a couple items at a time i dont think its what im looking for. For example, can you do (or have you done?) a pull tree of rings?
Have a look at the original review video, it may help. ruclips.net/video/tdxiZs0MDbs/видео.html
It's all about the flask size and how you stack the items. In the past I've cast several things at once 😁
I am a bit dense, so please bear with me. So despite name this is not actually wax, right?
Neither will my wife... Bugga!
Already printing parts for the home. Repaired the kitchen pan drawer with a resin part earlier this month, and the bathroom extractor has had an FDM printed cover for years! Also, Tim Burton and Danny Elfman are coming to sue you, or offer you a film deal, I'm not sure which prospect is scarier.
Ahhh... better change my Channel name again 😉😁
@@vogman How do you rate this new resin against Sirayatech Cast?
Time will tell 😁
Can i use 3d printed object instead of styrofoam in lost foam casting???
I've never tried it, but I can't imagine it working very well in the "Lost" method.
Thanks for reply, Sorry for bothering again. In my country investment plaster cost a lot. So is there any alternative of investment plaster in lost pla casting?
I tried without success to cast without proper plaster. I never got it to work 😥
@@vogman 🙂
Thanks for information 🙂
That casting came out nice! Seems like you're a fan of this resin.
I did enjoy using this resin, yes. Normally I have to figure everything out for myself and waste time and resin just tuning it in. Liqcreate have done all the work already, as all companies should. I applaud them for that. It prints great and casts great, plus the price is fair. It's a good one 😁
@@vogman sounds good, how do you compare it to bluecast X-one?
I like X One, but I get a lot of misprints as it requires large supports, which can overwhelm a small and detailed print. I had no such issues with Liqcreate. As for casting, they both cast equally well.
@@vogman wow, that sounds great. After your review I ordered a small liqreate bottle, which was surpicingly affordable too! Thank you for your review and answer.
yess
Only if they would send off proof prints per purchase would be a good marketing to the customer. Would lead ppl to know exactly type of resin to buy for different specific needs
It would be nice... but then the price would shoot up 😁
oh snap! Vohgmun! the best mun!
That's me 😁

I've no idea what you mean 😉😁🤣😂

Ow you make same satisfying things thank you
My pleasure 😊
So I got this resin for my phrozen 4k mini and 8k mighty. I'm still messing with settings to get it right but I had a question if you have the time: I'm running into the resin drooping/pooling in some of the tighter areas. I assume this is because of sub-surface scattering from the resin being semi transparent. Do you think there is a solution aside from playing with print angle and doing it in multiple parts?
You are the best as always.. Please, i have One direct question, for one direct answer.... Is this product better than Bluecast Xone? 🤔
I personally prefer the Liqcreate over X One. It's easier to print with and it casts beautifully 😁
@@vogman Thank you, am going to order liqcreat soon, i have anycubic d2 now. My new 3d printer. 🙂🙃🙂😊
You have a wife? What’s that like? Jk
Expensive 😁😁😁
Thanks for the video. Is there a video about the heater you had in your hotbox?
Try this buddy ruclips.net/video/SZW9vBppQ-A/видео.html
Thanks!@@vogman
You say this is a wax based resin, is it possible to melt it with little heat after printing? I think I read somewhere that most casting resins (Siraya for example) dont really melt at all, but rather burn up at high temperatures.
I wouldn't think so. These have wax content, but not enough to make them melt like wax. They typically revert to gas in the burn out process.
@@vogman Ah too bad. Thank you for clarifying
@@vogmanso will they still leave ash?
Wow that came out amazing VegOilGuyMan! It makes me want to do this too, but the setup for casting costs more than I can afford haha
It does cost a lot, just like most hobbies 😁😁😁
Okey Great ! I will stay with this resin. You confirm my opinion. And for my burnout i left 2h, its engought. Cheers VogMan
Great to hear we think alike 😁
Thanks for doing this, been interested for a year in it but lack of reviews is a killer for me these days when buying castable resins 😂 Cupboard full of crap ones with lies for marketing lol
There's always plenty of rubbish ones 😁😁😁
It was my first castable wax resin, it gave me nice print and nice casting results from the professional casting shop. Recommend it
That's great to hear 😁
Awesome review as always!!!
I appreciate that 😁
Hey Vogman :D between this and siraya tech cast, which do you feel is easier to use?
Which is EASIER? Probably ST Cast. Even though ST Cast likes it warm as well, it is still runny when Liqcreate has frozen, making cleaning easier. But if you have a warm environment, well... both are easy to use.
Thanks!
The result were very fine and clear . Good job. Can we use used investment again for next batch ?
You can't recycle the investment powder. It only works once I'm afraid.
