DJI Action 5 Pro: Why I Switched From GoPro

- I put the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro to the test in the mountains of Colorado filming fpv videos, vlogs and timelapses. I love that the front screen is touch which is super helpful when the action 5 pro is mounted on a fpv drone or when vlogging. The battery time is just insane giving you almost 4 hours of use. It also 4K 120 fps and filming in D-LogM 10-bit color for post color grading. A new tracking feature is also included which is pretty cool. Is this the best action camera over GoPro Hero 13?

I have a GoPro hero 12 and it’s GREAT in sunny, bright conditions. Luckily I live in Southern California! I recently got a pocket 3, and I’m sold on DJI now, so I’m about to buy an action 5 pro.
Here’s the one thing, though…out of the box, the action 5 looks jittery at night, and very over-sharpened and even overexposed. Here are the settings I’ve seen several reviewers dial in and the results are INCREDIBLE. Give them a try…
4K 30, EIS at Rocksteady (not +), Shutter 1/100-1/8000 (this is very important in night scenes, you can also use quadruple your frame rate to 30FPS at 1/120, 60 at 1/240, etc., Texture at -2, Noise Reduction at -1 or -2. EV -0.7.
In night mode, you can’t adjust ISO but you can reduce EV and texture and noise reduction. Looks insane with these settings. Try it!
@@babyboy1971 appreciate the settings tips however i barely ever use an action camera in low light, besides i was using settings straight out of the box with auto settings for the review; i usually use it for fpv and i have sharpness at low, iso locked at 100 and ss locked at 1/60 - 1/120
Hell yeah man!
@@DroneSupremacy appreciate you taking the time to watch & the advice bro!
Yes ! GoPro battery performance was the #1 reason why I switched to DJI. Always running out of power, my pockets full of spare batteries, always changing batteries. Duh. I got sick of losing footage because of abysmal GoPro battery performance. Happy with DJI
@@elmono3939 yep, the hero 13 batteries wont work with the 11/12 and neither will the enduro work with the 13; action 5 pro’s battery gives you almost 4 hours and it’s can work with action 4 and vice versa
Still waiting on Ace2 to come out before I decide. 1 more week.
@@TimDillardPhotography makes sense, however 8k on an action camera imo is overkill, high bitrate & good dynamic range with 4k is the way to go
Keep hearing pops while you are talking in the car. Also, to me the picture looks more yellow. GoPro had this exact same problem when they started chasing the megapixels. DJI may have made a mistake by not staying at 11mp.
@@TNRVG yeah i noticed that later too i think i was talking a little to loud in the car real close to the mic perhaps
maybe I’ll switch too
@@rahimalii you should! Thanks for watching
I will get soon. Bye gopro with your gp2 processor, overhead and battery life
@@jigbaiano till last year i think the hero 12 still had the edge over action 4 but this time the action 5 pro is just another level
Colors are flat, Hero has better colors, for night DJI is much better, all Hero cameras are rubbish with low light condition. If DJI would improve the colors and sharpness / details, I would definitely buy DJI
@@michalstepanek9155 last year i went for hero 12 from 11 over action 4 because gopro does have good colors; i use an action camera for fpv mainly and having d log m which is 10 bit and has the same color profile as my other drone and barely ever use it at nights however the bigger sensor is good and the action 5 pro has great dynamic range, the sharpness can be controlled just like a gopro and i like the extra fps options on the action and appreciate the 8:7 on the hero
