      Being raped is a horrible situation, but it's not the baby's fault whether the mother *wants* to bring it to term or not. The baby should still have rights in that situation. It's a terrible, dark situation for the mother: It makes my blood boil. They 10000% get the short end of the stick (to put it lightly), but there's no need to make it even more horrifying by ending the innocent baby's life.

    The way Constance tried to guilt Alexandra about her abortion even after she stated she mourned that unborn baby's life by saying " You know it had a heartbeat." is so low.

      I really don't think she was guilting her. Alexandra said her baby wasn't a living thing, and Constance pointed out that having a heartbeat is a really hard-to-argue point of being a living thing.

      @@donutpete The point is it's up the woman herself. You think its a human at conception, they think its a human way later down the pregnancy. And you said it yourself, its an opinion, so they get to chose if they want an abortion or not. And you can't control someone's life. You may think it's human, but it's barely a human. It doesn't feel, doesn't think, doesn't see, or hear, it doesn't have emotions, it doesn't have a conscience, it doesn't have morals, and all these things define what a human is. And that clump of cells you have in your stomach at the beginning of pregnancy has none of it. So whether you think it's human or not, is completely irrelevant. Because at the end of the day, it's not YOUR BODY, so you don't get to control them.

    it literally sickened me how constance talked to alexandra. when she was describing her abortion, how she was grieving, and how it felt for her, and then constance cut her off and said “did you know that a baby has a heartbeat at 5 weeks?”. there was absolutely not respect towards her, which is just sad.

      That’s just plain misinformation at 5 weeks if you are able to see a heart beat it is actually a group of around 200 cells and it is around 4-5 mm across, calling this a “baby” is wrong scientifically.

    The way Constance berated Alexandra after she told such a vulnerable story was so disgusting. You don't have to agree but she is still human and went through an incredibly difficult time. It shows more and more how anti-abortion people do not take into account the experience and well-being of the mother. I'm so impressed by how well spoken Alexandra was after being so disgustingly attacked because I would have been sobbing.

      Why would she? Going through a hard experience doesn't justify her decisions and reasoning. That was her entire argument outside the usual silly bodily autonomy argument she made.       Neither are wrong. There's truth in what both are saying. However, they are looking at the situation from totally different vantage points. One is looking at it as " I'll have to carry a baby by a person who violated me", and the other is looking it as "Though the child was conceived through ill means. It doesn't make it any less worthy of life than a child she actually wanted. Also, it wouldn't make the trauma from that experience any less than it already is". That's what I'm taking from what they're saying.

    i'm actually apalled when wylan talked about being sexually abused at a very young age-young enough to not know what was happening to her body, and constance reponds with "what about the unborn child" without so much as thinking about how wylan *WAS* also a child in that situation! a child that could have been forced to carry ANOTHER child to full term. that is something that i genuinely feel is horrifying and was not even close to being made out to be as horrifying and gut churning as it is when it was over looked so quickly and insensitively instead of actually digesting it even when wylan implies she was very young.

      I’ve met someone who was impregnated by their father when they were 13, and it depends on the person, of course, but she said she didn’t regret giving birth, she was actually upset that her mom gave the child up and her and her mom’s relationship is terrible now. My grandpa had two girlfriends whose parents took them to Detroit for an abortion unbeknownst to my grandpa, the girlfriends only going through with what their parents told them. Sad that parents can encourage their child to make such a life-altering, possibly world-altering, choice and even more sad that she felt she had to go through with it when one of them at least felt horribly about the whole experience. I’m tired of the lie that abortion doesn’t effect men, and I’m tired of the ridiculous argument that even if it didn’t, we shouldn’t have a say…

I hope nobody is paying for it . . process. Sex is a much faster decision. It leads to pregnancy. Adoption never leads to pregnancy for those adopting but it does lead to baby and child care. So the outcomes eventually are the same but the roads to it are totally different.

    Something I purpose to anyone who sees this: why not value human life for simply being human life? Trying to come up with prerequisites such as consciousness, memory, development, impact on the world, etc. NEVER work, they always result in hypocritical slippery slopes. The ONLY consistent basis for valuing human life is to simply value human life for being human life. A living human organism with human DNA.

    My oldest was conceived thru rape. My second was conceived thru poor decisions and unhealthy coping skills. I was 17 when my first was born. 19 with my second. I love them as much as the two I conceived in a loving, healthy marriage, but my experiences led me to be pro-choice. I know the toll pregnancy takes on a body, the emotional fallout after rape...and I can't imagine forcing (anti-abortion legislation or religion) anyone to give birth.

      I’m so sorry that you had to endure that and I have so much respect for you.
      Imagine someone being raped and being made to keep the pregnancy.
      When this woman is raising this child, she isn’t capable of loving it and treating it the way you love your baby.
      You are so strong.
      You are very intelligent to realize that some women aren’t able to handle the situation the way you have.
      No child should be mistreated but no woman should be forced to keep a pregnancy especially if it is the byproduct of rape.
      Looking into that little innocent baby’s face, but all she sees is the rapist.
      Any sort of anger or animosity could just become extreme.
      You are a strong, beautiful, and intelligent woman.

    constance just because you have pent up rage and resentment does not mean you have to be disrespectful. everyone was VERY respectful in letting you say what you wanted to.

    Constance was a sour spot of the conversation. Inconsiderate and willing to provide empathy to a concept of human, but not the people sitting with her in the room. Grilled on my nerves the whole time.

      She was great. The sour spot was the one defending herself, not abortion, Daphne. She was invited to debate and she rolled her eyes and made faces faaaaaaarrrr more frequently than anyone else on the panel.

    Alexandra continued to sound collected and respectful throughout the entire episode despite being berated and slammed over and over again. props to her! cant say i’d behave the same.
