If your comfortable replacing your own shocks, you have the talent to rebuild them as well. Great videos here on you tube to walk you through it. All the special tools you need including a nitrogen tank is still cheaper than paying someone to rebuild them. I did the same thing, bought a used set, rebuilt them, then replaced the original. Now I have a set to rotate through as needed.
I used texas shock works! They send rebuilt shocks to me, springs included, for extra, "none of my local mechanics wanted to beal with those springs!" They arrived, my local mechanic put them on, and I sent the old ones back Fed-ex with a prepaid shipping sticker. What a night and day differance!!!!!!! Got $400 back off price of rebuilt shocks,core.... Check them out! SK

Probably the most informative video ive found on the raptor that's actually useful. Still trying to figure out the issues with my raptor and this video didn't mention it but it's still a very helpful video.
that driver side passenger door is an issue with ford. both my 2016 ford explorer and my 2006 explorer have that issue as well. i also know other ford vehicles do this as well.
I recommend changing the UCA to a Uniball control arm to eliminate binding OFFROAD from the ball joint or if you you raise the front higher in the future this would also help with caster and camber I suppose .
I saw a video that said the reason the pump goes out is because not enough fluid circulating, look into an aftermarket reservoir that mounts behind the grill.
Who are the guys in North Carolina that rebuilds the Raptor shock's, I live in north Florida and I need to get mine done as well. Good information because I bought mine in August has 225,000, on it, and I love it, good show my man ✌️👍😁
Don't slide your ass out the seat use your steps . I'm 6'3 and 325 and have yet to break my raptor seat trim. But I'm careful how I exit the truck. Lol
As previously mentioned, what is the story on that air bag setup? I have a 2013 that I use for work, have the Decked storage system full with tools so it's heavy AF. Not to mention everything I have stacked on top of it. Been thinking of getting an airbag setup to help alleviate squat.
Have you run into this??? I have a 2012 F150 Harley edition. We tow it and last time we towed it the computer said it was in tow mode and to leave it in N. Well we got back to the house and i smelled trans fluid. The computer didn’t have the transfer case disengage the trans so the trans just spun in N for 640 miles. That cost me a new trans. Trans and instal was 10.5K. It would be nice to be able to confirm that the trans is disengaged.
The only thing I’ve had a problem with my GEN 1, The fuse that controls my power seat and the power mirrors blew out. So I put a bigger fuse in and the motors and everything still work but that fuse blew out shortly so it has a short somewhere
Great video. I have a 2014 raptor and I've had number 3 and number 4 issues. Still tracing out the wiring for my rear passenger door lock. Where did you find your break?
Shocks are needing rebuild at 50,000KMs with half off road and on road duty. Shock tear down and rebuild takes 5 hours to do all 4. Did the plugs on mine. Front lower wheel well plugs on both sides are a bitch. You need long extensions and wheel removed for better access for all the lower ones. Top are ok
Great video! I have a 2011 Molten Orange Raptor with 40K on the clock. My AC blower motor crapped out at around 30K miles and was a real bitch to replace. The next issue is that the rear sliding window defroster does not come on and the slider gets very temperamental when opening/closing, I believe the switch needs replacing.
Heater core on mine and oil pan gasket. 2010 5.4 Raptor. Some leakage from the front driver side of the engine... and of course the notorious cam phaser, and header could be leaking. 10+ year old truck...
I notice the airbag assist on the rear leaf springs. Is this a factory option or supplied aftermarket. I have one in Australia and I could do with a little more lift when towing on the rear and mine doesnt have the airbags.
I just bought a gen 1 raptor with a 6.2 V8 with 95 thousand miles. And I also bought the first gen 1 raptor brand new in 2010 with a 5.4 V8 both raptors bounced if I hit a bump while in a corner and they both felt out of control. I think the gen 1 shock's lack adequate rebound damping. So my question is, after they rebuilt your new shock's did that stop the out of control feel over bumps while driving in corners ? And did the rebuild shop use different viscosity shock oil or modify the new shock's? I'm addressing that same issue this weekend.
@@albertayo7035 Yes, I did. The fluid looked good and didn't create any other problems. I have some issues with trans and will be covering in the future
It’s basically just the seals fail / if you live in NY, & never hit any bumps, probably not a big issue..... but if you live in NY, why have a Raptor. Your just putting in new seals & returning shock to factory specs. That’s the best / Fox & Ford teamed up on this suspension. Rebuild, yes! Alter from factory specs, no

They are the Air Lift with on board compressor and added the Day Star ( www.4wheelparts.com/p/daystar-air-bag-cradle-ku09140bk/_/R-BKCG-KU09140BK) air bag cradle to help gain back some of the suspension travel that was lost. Great for towing and no leaks in 4 years. Not recommended for high speed off roading
On our 2010 Ford F-150 5.4L Raptor, we had to rebuild the front shocks because they were worn down to nothing! so bouncy. The rear ones didn't need to be replaced yet because they were still good.
Thats average mileage for a vehicle. As long as the carfax and the previous owner kept up the maintenance you should be good. You can also get a Ford pre inspection for it before you buy
Bro buy it that's a good deal and as long as u check the trucks history it should ok I think the raptor 2012 is better looking than alot of new trucks lol

Thank you for the video. My 09 king ranch had the fuse 27 relocation installed due to the fuse melting. Off topic but do you mind looking at the cover on your pcm and sharing the part number that’s printed on the top? I have rain that gets past the cowl and drips onto those harnesses. A few other electrical ghost here and there. Thanks again
My 2014 raptor needed a new transmission at 69k miles and a new transfercase at 81k. Its been so unreliable. My 2010 ram has 261k miles and no major problems😮
Are you a teenager!?! Where did your plastic fridge go to the filter? ? It is very important. It cools the air from the filter. Are you better than an immediate engineer who designed the engine ?!🙄🙁😲
I’m sure he’s not. But that’s a K&N Cold Air Intake (I have AFE & AFE Exhaust on mine.) And yes, it’s wayyy better than factory. Wayyyy better air flow, more power & better fuel efficiency. However, GOTTA keep it clean & filter charged (oiled) properly.
You missed the “thing” that none of us Raptor owners wants to talk about, the less than robust forward bearing in the rear differential. A tragedy for sure!
