So far - you have the best videos for easy, slow, clear learning!! I love ya! I should have taken this tutorial prior to my booties but all good because now I understand more. Thank you so much. Want to add how much it means to me to learn this in comfort of my own home. Don't make much in wages and expecting first grandchild. Your kindness in making these videos is just beyond!
I am learning to crochet am at complete beginner stage and I have watched dozens and dozens of instruction tutorials on here and would like to say to anybody starting for the first time that this is the most clear, easy to follow tutorial of all of them. The lady has taken the time to make sure she works slowly enough for those of us who dont just want to copy what she is doing, but also to understand the sequence of steps and what they mean for us. Anybody can copy something but with this you understand the process too. I am so grateful to this lady for her wonderful efforts, some others forgot to say if you had to yarn over hook sometimes and it confused me. Excellent ,many thanks ,the slowness allows me to write down each set of instructions as I am doing a baby bootie pattern on my lap top and cant keep changing back and forth looking for stitch how to's for the different stitches, so I have written each stitch on a seperate piece of paper for reference.
im so thrilled to have found your tutorials i have recommended you to lots of people on craft craft and more craft an english craft group online and to a few others also my elderly mother who is busy making crochet as i speak
Thank you for giving such good instruction, clear and slowly enough that it's easy to follow. I appreciate this very much. I learned how to crochet in the 6th grade. I'm now in my '60s but I didn't use the skill until just recently so trying to remember this stuff is not as easy as it used to be when I was younger. So your videos are so helpful thank you
I'm a crochet beginner and I just wanted to thank you for your series of beginner lessons. They are easy to understand, your voice is soothing and not hurried, you take it slow, so we aren't lost before we get the stitches done and you seem to really enjoy helping all us beginners. I've followed your entire series and still revert back to lessons I may have forgotten or just simply need a refresher course on. Thanks again!
These are one of the easiest videos i have ever seen. Even though the stich is difficult u make it so easy to learn . We have to do crochet at school n if i dont understand it frm my school tr i always have u to help me out . So i dont have to worry about learning at school . I tell myself , "dont panic if u dont understand , there's always crochet guru
Your demonstration was awesome and also very informative. When I first start out on any project I am always getting confused as to where I start and end. Thank you for being so clear on all of that! I am now a subscriber!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Im a beginner and sometimes need a refresher on how to do certain stitches. And your teaching is very clear and easy to follow. Thank you again 💜
Hi Manda... with the basic stitches you learn in crochet the height of the stitch is pretty much the main concern. So you are basically correct with what you said, but what is more important is that you understand the order of stitch height. So the slip stitch is first, then the single crochet, then the half double crochet, then double crochet and etc. So each stitch will create a different height!! Thanks for your post!
Thank you for the instructions!!! It was nice and slow and very clear!!! I only knew how to single crochet....now I learned this and will be going to watch your other videos to learn everything else you got to teach!
I found the video super helpful - I am practicing it now. I would love to use it with sheet yarn, which is why I am doing "experimental" projects, thank you so much and I have subscribed!
Your tutorials are so clear, Bobbie. I keep coming back to them as I need to, whether to learn new stitches or refresh my memory on 'old' ones. Thank you so much!
Never mind! I was skipping a step. I just had to watch the video a few more times to see my mistake. Thanks again for the videos. They have been such a great help to me as a beginner!!!
You are amazing thank you so much for 6 mths I have been trying to crochet I've watched so many vids and never got it and then first time watching your I am we'll on the way with my blanket in 3 different stitches, great vids so clear and simple thank you thank you x thank you
I really do think that practice will help. I remember when I first started and how awkward everything was and looked. You will get better... just hang in there!
I am so glad I found this channel! I have watched so many tutorials with no success. But yours are explained so well that it makes it so easy to understand and follow. Thank you!
Thanks a lot for this great tutorial. I'm trying to crochet a Kingston Hat & it requires me to crochet a half double crochet. However, in the past I'm only used to crocheting a double crochet for blankets. I like the orange yarn you chose cause it's bright and bold on the screen & I can easily see how you're crocheting. Also, you teach it at a slower pace. You're a fantastic teacher!!
Thank you so much! You really clearly explain it so well, I appreciate that. I’m using this stitch to learn another pattern, for a Ravenclaw scarf I’m going to attempt as a Christmas gift for my partner. Thanks again! ❤😊
I know you haven't made videos in so long, but you are such a good teacher and I would love for you to redo this video, since it is a little out of focus. :)
Thank you! I have a beautiful project coming out from this lesson and you truly blessed me! p.s. your contrasting needle and yarn color work well together.
This video is really easy to follow, great instructions and helps absolute beginners like me, but it was really hard to see thr stiches with the bright yarn and needle.
2:18 I am a little confused. You said not to do the first hdc in the first stitch but then it seams to me you are actually doing it in the first stitch. Can you help me to understand this? Thanks!!!
You're welcome and thank you for letting me know they are working!! I always like to know if they are okay or if they need improvement. So thanks again for the comment.
It is standard to place your hook into the 3rd chain on a half double crochet. This is also due to the height difference of each stitch. So basically in a single crochet chain you would place your hook into the 2nd chain from the hook because when you begin your second row the chain will meet the height of the next single crochet row. That is also why we chain after each row as well because that chain will meet the height of the next row!
With a new row you can start the stitch at the first chain because when you chain 2 to start those are included with that first chain in the row to make 3? I hope that made sense lol But also when you first start you count to the 3rd chain to start the hdx but after that you use the first chain next to the stitch?
just came from your double stitch video. and I'm confused if when you're going through the chain are there 1 or two loops you're passing through or just one on this stitch? 1:11 here...
I can never get my hook to go through the loops so smoothly in fact it’s so bad that I have to use my other hand to pull it over the hook. I made the chains a little looser but it always make it fall out completely. What do I do,
Twenchi Denoe I recommend you to start with a thicker hook. That used to happen to me but now I have a thick hook and I can crochet with no problems cx
Love your videos. So I'm going to try to explain the problem I'm having. :) I've made my chain and started the next row. But as I'm going, I get stuck on the three loops on my hook. I can get the yarn through the first loop, but I can't get it through the second loop easily. It seems too tight, but the first and third loops aren't too tight. Does this make sense? Is my problem too tight yarn or something else? Will I just need to keep practicing am I doing something wrong? Help if you can!
Yes! You can switch up these simple stitches between rows however you like! (It's the clusters and more complicated stitches that need precise numbers of stitches per row that get tricky to mix n match.)
Hmm, weird. I pots this question before and it seems it got deleted. I was saying that in the second row even though you say not to place the hdc in the fists stitch (2:07) it seems to me you are actually placing it in the first stitch (2:18). Can you help me to understand this? Thanks!!!
+Taimy Bringas This is also what I want to know. It looks like she points to the stitch that you should never start on, then the video jumps, and she then puts the hook right where she said not to put it. In this case, what does "first stitch" mean?
+Suzanne Nixon according to me, (as she explains it) you just have to make sure you don't start in one of your chains and she names the chains; stitch one
Hi Kira...go and check out my how to change color tutorial. In that tutorial I demonstrate how to change color with the single crochet but it will be the same for all of the crochet stitches.
This is the only creator that I was able to learn from!! Your videos are still very loved💚💚💚
I love the way you teach. It’s very straight forward. I also like how you just tell us what we need to know. Thanks for your videos

I love your videos! I go to your channel first whenever I need to learn a new stitch or I need a refresher! Thank you so much!
Your demonstration was awesome and also very informative. When I first start out on any project I am always getting confused as to where I start and end. Thank you for being so clear on all of that! I am now a subscriber!
I like the videos. They really help me but the orange yarn against a white background is really hard to see! Consider changing it!
I found it okay, but better would be a not-so-bright color. Great instructional video!!
I agree...that orange against white is a bad choice of colors...
Thank you for making this so easy to learn & explaining the abbreviation too! ❤️
You are so welcome and thank you for your kind words!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Im a beginner and sometimes need a refresher on how to do certain stitches. And your teaching is very clear and easy to follow. Thank you again 💜
TYVM this is the best video yet I have found. Thanks for sharing!

You are an excellent teacher!! Thank you for doing these tutorials! They are so helpful!!!!
Ha, I have to agree with Felicity. I have just learned to double crochet with this video. Thanks!!!!

Thank you so much! I've been trying to learn this for a long time and when I watched you do it slower it was so much easier than the other tutorials!
Thank you for this video! I'm making my mother a bag for Christmas and the pattern I'm using uses this stitch! This video was very easy to understand!
You're videos are the easiest to fallow I have seen. Thank you!

Hi, the thing I'm finding difficult is that the orange wool is too bright against the white background, so it's really hard to follow
You are very clear and explicit in your explanation.
I am so glad I found this channel! I have watched so many tutorials with no success. But yours are explained so well that it makes it so easy to understand and follow. Thank you!

Thank you for the videos they're extremely helpful! 😊♥️♥️
Thank you! I have a beautiful project coming out from this lesson and you truly blessed me! p.s. your contrasting needle and yarn color work well together.
Thank you for not having overly long distracting fingernails. Yours are neat, pretty and well groomed but do not interfere with seeing your stitches
I find it hard to see with the bright colored yarn
Thanks for letting me know!!
Your videos have been an amazing help!! Thank You!!!!
This is a wonderful site.Helped me so much

Great video, it really helps me every time I need it. 😍
Thankyou your video really helped me a lot
lol ty for this! it rlly helped me for my school project
I needed to learn how to change colors and weave in ends.
2:18 I am a little confused. You said not to do the first hdc in the first stitch but then it seams to me you are actually doing it in the first stitch. Can you help me to understand this? Thanks!!!
Saw that too. Might've been a mistake from talking and showing at the same time?
My TLE teacher summoned me here

This has really helped me

Hello,
could you do an update, or do you have an update of this video that has the green yarn? The orange yarn makes it difficult to see the stitches.
Hi Cat, I am using an aluminum Boye USA hook. I hope that helps.
Thank you! ❤
thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
No problem, and thank you for your comment...I really appreciate the feedback!
With a new row you can start the stitch at the first chain because when you chain 2 to start those are included with that first chain in the row to make 3? I hope that made sense lol But also when you first start you count to the 3rd chain to start the hdx but after that you use the first chain next to the stitch?
Hi... yes when you chain 2 that is considered your first stitch so just place your next hdc into the next stitch!
Do you have to chain two on every row
just came from your double stitch video. and I'm confused if when you're going through the chain are there 1 or two loops you're passing through or just one on this stitch? 1:11 here...
After the first half double crochet are you yarning over and inserting in the 3rd chain from the hook again?
Thank you!!
Great, thanks! I am using a susan bates, my work looks messy. Is it just a practice thing?
If i were adding a color into the half double crochet stitch would i just pull it on through the three loops since theres no point of two loops?
Hard to see exactly what you’re doing because of the orange yarn, but I just went by what you were saying.
Hi! I'm just wondering how to change colour for each new double crochet? Thanks
Can you go from a double crochet to a half double crochet in the next row?
Yes! You can switch up these simple stitches between rows however you like! (It's the clusters and more complicated stitches that need precise numbers of stitches per row that get tricky to mix n match.)
THANK YOU!!!!😭💕
clear instructions, but it's hard to see the neon colored yarn
can you tell me what brand of hook you use? it looks more rounded than mine, i wonder if it is easier to work with? thanks
I think a different color yarn would make it easier to see the stitches easier.
I just crocheted a lot of rows in the wrong stich 🥲
Does this video exist somewhere where the green yarn is used? I can’t see the detail in the orange. Too hard on the eyes! :(
Kayo ba yung nasa teach me?
Why start at the 3rd chain ? why not the 2nd chain ? Is this standard for HDC ?
Thank you
May

Hi Kira...go and check out my how to change color tutorial. In that tutorial I demonstrate how to change color with the single crochet but it will be the same for all of the crochet stitches.
How do I do a double stitch on only one stitch
my work are curling i cant make a straight crochet how can i avoid that
So, every single stitch, you skip three? Or is it just the first stitch? Both look really awkward
