My story is the same as Banaz, but I managed to escape at 17 before my family could hurt me. I wish I was living abroad, but my life was so hard in the Middle East trying to run away and survive on my own. I had no one to help and absolutely no support for years. It took me more than 10 years to be able to live a normal life and get over all the abuse and the beatings I went through. Even talking about what I went through was so painful. I know running away was not easy, but now I know it was the best disicion and I saved my life. I could've been dead too, but I'm alive and happy now, and want to tell my story to all the women who go through this so they run away before it's too late. RIP Banaz 😔

There's needs to be more awareness made for the women stuck in a situation as this. So that they'll feel safe when seeking safety. I know there's already organisations out there working to raise awareness but if they could somehow find a way to advertise more in places women go alit ,like public bathrooms. Just like all those mental health awareness posters. 💯 this is a just a tragic & what those evil bastards did to her while ending her life. 😢😢

As she was giving her statement, that female cop just sat there, no questions asked...and then just tells her to call them again if her life is in danger. How daft can she be?! And she switches off the room light even before Banaz exited the room. Shows the utmost disrespect for this poor girl. And another female cop even contemplated bringing charges on her for being drunk and making up stories. How sad! This girl had nowhere to turn.

It made me feel physically ill hearing that be said, pure proof out of the horse mouth that this is how screwed the system is when it comes to real complaints, esp in NZ, they just get dismissed, then told to come back when you start to feel worried/fearful?! 😑😠🙄.
What a blimmin robot that cop was, just ticking the boxes with her monotone voice and long silences, but to hear in the end she didn't even stick to the police word and investigate... did she even write any notes..?!?!? I bloody hope she got fired!
Anyone know her name, I want to know more... 🤔
      Rip BANAZ 💜✌
*This is the second video b2b I've watched about authority being slack and not doing their job to even minimum standard on the very first meeting of the person concerned and therefore results in death..
1 time is two many when it comes to professionals slipping up. Ugh it makes my blood boil.
Just sickening that the majority of the time when a person finds the strength to reach out to the police for help, whether how minor or major the situation is and whether its going to highly affect a person and get dismissed, and then they don't go back for the help ever again like they originally thought they could so easily but it becomes more humiliating being belittled from the ones who serve and protect.. 😕
From my own experience, I know the police are lazy, slack and willing to leave people in danger and with the feeling I have from the trauma, I will not put myself through that again, to be told to come back....okaaay umm so when lady, after the house has caught fire or when I'm home from hospital after the knife has already gone through the door and into my skull...
What is wrong with humans! Ffs.
Go home love and we will keep you updated with what your abuser says when we question him casually, yunno because we will get to you first to make sure your safe from his rage when he knows you went to the police.. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

This story is so sad. Just read that Rahmat Sulemani hanged himself 10 years after Banaz’s cruel death. The man was devastated and never found love again. He said that there was “no life for him” after her death, that Banaz was “his present, his future, his hope.” Rahmat had spent the rest of his years under witness protection. My heart breaks for Banaz and Rahmat. What this family did to Banaz is unspeakable. She was surrounded by the absolute worst kind of people and the criminal justice system failed her.

@Christina Reynolds The situations are not even remotely the same. Honor killings do not happen to people who are from the western world (when I say from, I mean originally from). Families in the west (with the exception of some recent immigrants from the East) do not kill their daughters if they disagree with their choices. For you to try to suggest that's the case is very disingenuous

Christina Reynolds So England would be the place to freely practice anti-secular tribalism?
Extemism is an issue, one that shouldnt be oversimplified. However, refugee status is granted based on religious/ethnic persecution, which stems from imperial coups, sanctions, and war. And they don't just let anybody in.

And even somehow got into contact with her. Maybe her, her sister and her boyfriend could have all changed their names and moved to New Zealand or something. ...Poor Banaz, I felt such deep sorrow for her. I hate my life and my fate, I always I ask why I was I born here? Why in the worst place in Iraq? Why to this family?
I have a brother who has zero problem with killing me if I did something wrong. Killing to him and to other men in the family is nothing.
That’s why I don’t dare to do anything or break their “rules”. At least not openly. I feel so hopeless but I know there’s nothing I could and that’s my life and I should just accept it. I erased a comment that I wrote the first time I saw this because I thought I maybe judged the FEMALE (and that's how I put it) officer too harshly. I know I did not misjudge her and I feel horrible for how hard it was for Banaz to go to police in the first place and that maybe, just maybe she felt a small sigh of relief when she saw that she was going to talk with another woman. Houyeme Nouali, well some families in middle east don’t follow the Shariah law which is good but majority do which is just awful. We stayed in Middle East(Abu Dhabi/Dubai) for a year, some decent Arab families just let their kids do whatever they like, like exploring other religions, having to choose their own bf/gf, etc... while also making sure they’re not getting involved with bad people. Some families are just so bad that the father would beat his wife, children, etc...
a family at the same floor we live in is actually a good one, but the one flat in the building got reported I think. Someone complained of shouting and stuff and I guess they contacted police?
Anyways, I kinda envy good families that love and protect each other while giving each other freedom since I came from a traditional asian family myself. Like, the type of family that would belittle you and call you disrespectful when you try to defend yourself, and would verbally abuse you when people start noticing you’re showing symptoms of mental illness.

@@crowarctia yes i'm aware of the varieties im the arab world since i live in tunisia my self . and i can somehow relate to you because my family is pretty traditional amd strict . I cole with showing them and telling them exactly what they want ( a perfect college girl that has absolutly no problems ) while in fact i 'm quite the exact opposite of that since i've had some mental issues myself . i just reach to friends instead . now , don't get me wrong , my family loves and stuff but they can't handle the truth that i'm more than just a quite girl

Houyeme Nouali, yeah it’s kinda sad that sometimes friends are more like family than your family. My family would just yell at me when I try to open up to them about problems so I talk to friends instead. I’m also losing motivation in school because no matter what I do, they’re still not enough for them. It’s like if I make a small mistake all the things I did for them fades away. It’s kinda funny tbh, it’s kinda funny how they’d just refuse medical help from our school after I got sent to the clinic multiple times because of panic attacks too and then blame me. Then they’d threaten to hurt me and my brother, they used to beat us when we were kids too just like any normal traditional asian family. Idk if it’s normal or not. I thought it was normal to fear your own family.

@@crowarctia i was taught to fear my family but as i grew out of my teenagehood i've realised that it isn't right . My good / bad school results are for me to focus on . I don't study to inpress them , i do it for myself . Bcause , as you said , no matter how good my results they'll never be truelly impressed . I've came to the conclusion that i'll work hard for the carrer , honor and self appreciation that I want and never for them . I've realised that i should live my life mainly for my self . they kind of understand me ( the carrer that i want ) and i feel that once i reach my goals and become independant they'll have to accept that i way differant than what they've had in mind . I've decided to completly shut them out of my mental concerns about 6 years ago ( they kinda regret it now ) but no . i'm not opening up to them cuz they'll shame me or misunderstand me . please try to seek help through freinds or even online , your mental health matters . as for school , trust me , you study only for yourself, not to impress anyone . I really enjoyed talking to you amd i wish you a happy life
