It's stuff like this that sets you apart from the others Sorin. I know how it is; for most of my life I lived in a place where we had to improvise and adapt for many repairs because that was in most cases the only option. This is as REAL as it gets.
Its a +0.75VALW power supply. IC chip is SY8386RHC.
If anyone wants to verify, motherboard model: LA-J481P
you know it's easier to place a crappy $1 buck converter, than spend 5 minutes looking up the chip... who cares the ssd will not fit anymore 🤣 simpletons will love him for the "genius fix" anyways.
Mouser does't have it, Ali does.
@@robertjung8929 i also don't like that cap removal everywhere... when caps are used and they die, for me that's a sign, that it's needed and even undersized... these times, where no manufacturer has something to give away for free, i don't think, that they place those just for fun
@@djtongi it is for quality control that's all .. myself I removed shorted caps before without replacing it the board still working more than 5 years no issue
@@robertjung8929 a 2230 ssd will fit
I'm from country that can't use ebay, in order to get IC i have to order from china and it take 2month at fast to get, this kind of way to fix thing are very inspiring for me, thank you Sorin.
Happy to help
@@electronicsrepairschool Sorin! I think it's wrong voltage! It should be 0,75V and also the one and only drive will not fit anymore! You blocked the SSD slot with the module. Not very clever
Sorin, you never cease to amaze me with how your mind works. You get stuff working that most people would give up on.
absolutely unique repair . everyone else would say cant be repaired . Sorin setting new standards of excellence and achievement today.
These videos are teaching the way things work. Only through repairs like this one will you understand exactly what is happening and why. Love it!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video Sorin. Not dodgy, innovative. Thinking outside of the box. Good work! Thank you.
This is one of my new favorite of your videos Sorin. You solved a problem. Restored operation when 99 out of 100 Technicians wouldn't even consider doing what you did here. Masterful. This is proof that when you say unrepairable, it's really really bad LOL. You are the first person I want around if we ever get stranded on a deserted island! Well done. Very well done. 73, de NZ5i
Sorin simply flexing how he truly understand each component and how it works, and using it to make device comes back to life again. In a perspective of a beginner, it's brilliant and amazing.
hello. ive been a computer tech/programmer for over 28 years. and i love the way this man does and explains things. your amazing.
I knew what you were looking in the drawer before you took it out😀😀, Sorin is not dodgy is resourceful. Great job.
Fantastic repair!
This folks, is a master at work. Brilliant workaround! 😉
Great fix Sorin, theres nothing dodgy about getting something working with an alternative circuit, especially when the component is unknown or unavailable, i love your work man ✌👍
yes.. he just use what he has... there nothing wrong with it
Dodgy Sorin, that's the content the community expects! Excellent service!!!!
This is beautiful, thanks Sorin, great job!
Well done Sorin! You are a good spiritual friend!
for so long ive watch sorin tutorials and vids now i mimick him the intro when repairing laptops in my own hehe
Sorin, I like your "Dodgy" repaire, becouse it is genius! You are greate! Consistens and professional and never, never , never borring
Salut Sorin, te urmaresc de ceva vreme si chiar mi-am pus intrebarea daca esti roman, ma bucur acum ca am aflat, spor la treaba in continuare!
Bravo Sorin, another practical and entertaining Fix/Video
Thank you sorin this video is so tricky, may God bless you
FANTASTIC!!!
I would happily use that laptop with my only meager suggestion being to add a little hotsnot to the new power supply and the wiring to keep it in place 🙂
W O W ! this one is an incredible cracking hardware system sir ! im Amazed totally 😮
Sorin, you are amazing, you surprise me every time, the Romanians try to fix everything because those like us learned that way, let's make it work
the problem is the space where you put the module is for the only ssd nvme available, thank you mr sorin for sharing
Great video and great work!!! I'd love to see more like this :) Thanks
Sorin, that's impressive! Thank you for your work :)
That was brilliant even though it is still so hard to me to innovate like solutions. Hopefully, in some day I will be capable of executing such solutions.👌👌
Sorin you amaze everybody, we enjoy all of your videos 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Genius . Come the apocalypse Sorin will be the only one fixing stuff.
It was actually really good repair. That's reverse engineering at its best. Well done Sorin i would probably do the same if i couldn't find the chip to buy or i had to repair it fast.
Love the frankenSorinstein repair. It's great to think outside of the box and if we're ever in an apocalyptic scenario I can see Sorin like that go to DIY repair guy in a community repairing anything and everything with whatever he has laying around to just get the job done. Again, love the FrankenSorinstein repair and the critical thinking outside the box. 👍
it's so outside, that the SSD drive will also stay outside now... 🙄
@@djtongi OH NO, lol I just saw that as well... minus 1 nvme slot oopsie.
@@icommandoi145 and it's the only one... so the customer will be happy getting a working laptop which cannot be used bc it has no hard drive...
@@djtongi I can't wait for part 2 of this video :D
A very good repair there. Thank you.
Great Job Sorin, better like only change the chip. Many Thanks
a good way to demo the properties of the workings of what you are working on
You are genius Sorin
Much love Sorin. From Nigeria 🥂🙏
Sorin that is a master class and I am more than impressed. Spot on about poor countries and short of money. Here in the West we need to pause think out of the box with pros and cons before reaching the critical stage out of habit.
Sorin the surgeon...love it..Dr S !!
Nice bodge sorin. Kept another laptop out of the landfill 👍
Awesome job Sorin ;)
master sorin you’re a genuis!👏
brilliant for me. you can see the experience and knowledge.. 🖖
Toujours au TOP M Sorin!!!!!🤣🤣🤣
Hi, I say it is a good repair, just adding a different DC to DC converter (power supply) as a source for the 1V. One point though. The free space you used to place the PC board looks like the place for the M.2 NVME hard drive. You need to keep this free for the hard drive, you just have to find another place where the PC board would fit.
Necessity remains the Mother of Invention. Now and always. We wouldn't be here without it. 👍🏻🖖🏻
Excellent job done❤❤❤❤❤
sorin these are real fix i love to bypass and jerry rig everything
Hello🤝I'm glade to see you again🤗great modifications👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👋👋👋 P.S What happens with coffee time?
Brilliant work-around for missing 1v supply. Especially the enable voltage from the BIOS. Not a bodge, re-engineered, beating the manufacturer at their own game. Who cares what that 1v supply chip was? 😀❤
Champion. I love this..
Sorin , nice fix,
thanks Sorin!!!
Good job ur an amazing genius thanks for video u make my day
The legend is working
respect man and i have ask can i replace ic charger chip on acer nitro is the same blowup and replace like this ?
One word: Genius !
Hi Sorin, how are u today. 12:07 it’s common when we have a little component and it doesn’t have enough space to write the real name of product so ,alternatively, they use some codes
boot device not found because no ssd has been installed. you placed the circuit in the ssd slot space :p .... maybe you need to re-placed this circuit to other place or use mini size ssd . but grate job sir. love you from Bangladesh.
aaaaah ooh I do Salute you Sorin
Hi sorin, if it is possible in your next video kindly explain how did you modify your charger and connected it to your Dc Power Supply ? thnx
Manufactures made our life harder ❤
great repair, the issue is with manufacturers eliminating and basically not caring about protection circuits on the main power rails and mosfets to save $$$ and MAKE more money selling you a new laptop. Your repair saved the laptop from going to the landfill and becoming e-waste, something these big corpos claim they care about, but you are the REAL environmentalist!
Pure thinking outside the box 😂, the only problem is the ssd space, sorin you need to get smaler buck converter boards 😅
Love your videos, greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹
That was my thougt too. I could be wrong but it looks like he used the space where the SSd should go. So if the owner wants to put in a SSd as boot device, he will now have the buck converter in its way. Apart from that the repair was ok. Maybe he should look up the CPU Voltage table for the CPU. Do not know if 0,99V is enough for CPU at full load.
@@svenhoff2653 yes, i agree 👍
Sorin avoids Dodge jobs.
@@johniga21 😂👍
I admire to you sir..
Nice one 🎉
The circuit is SY8386RHC from Silergy
Nice job as always but where are you going to put the ssd when you have the psb on its location?
Awesome!
Sorin strikes again !, I can imagine the head of a guy in another repair shop opening this laptop .. after a time.
Please make a video about the first laptop with a bios problem as well, it should be very interested to me at least
Sorin, one more question. Can I just remove the coil ?
Great job but the customer will be surprised when he realizes that there is no place to put the M.2 ssd because Sorin "found" lot of space for his power suply :).
Yo estaba pensando lo mismo
Was waiting whole time when he will notice this. "No bootable device" and still missed it :) This looked like 13" or 11" laptop. It is as small as it gets. If there were free space they would make it even smaller. I guess this one will not pass three month warranty. A bit too far dodgy :) Anyway great video for learning what this channel is all about!
Nice work around!
But how about when it is working on battery ? Is the 1v kept stable ?
Haha I have done things like that before with my friends laptop, the 5v is missing and i do the trick with that step down module, the exactly the same module, and the laptop still work until now
very nice
How has nobody commented that the power supply is put in the m.2 hard drive slot? The laptop is fixed, but where will he put the hard drive? Maybe he can get a mini m.2 and glue it to the board. LOL love the fix nonetheless and watch all your videos Sorin.
nobody? have you read every comment here?
Very clever
well done sir,but where is ssd m.2 drive you put the power supply from the m2 drive area?
You're a genius, HP are muppets. Great job Sorin.
Hello Mr Sorin.
Can you tell me which reference and where you purchased the universal plugs including cord for connecting the different brands of laptops to their power input port. I see that you have a special plug for DELL, HP, ACER, etc. Please return your answer. Best regards and thans in advance. Andy.
Nice one! One problem solved. Now you have to solve the storage problem, seeing that the laptop has only one m.2 slot.....🤔
Sorin you have to move that pwr supply it is on the way of m.2 ssd slot(boot drive).
i love dogy.amazing video.
Lol crazy repair 😂😂😂 brilliant thumbs up 👍👍👍👍
Once is a 1v power supply, could you get it from an existing power supply of the needed output, like for instance ram, or even pcu power supply?
they made that patent for usb to prevent all kind of dust etc filling usb ports. smart idea.
My question is how do you put the hard drive back in with the power unit in the slot?
Wow I learned
sorin, just a question, where did you exactly injected the 1volt? in the coil?
Sir . what is the work of left tracks..is it work properly..I can't believe 😊
Great repair,you should be made a genuis🎉🎉🎉🎉
Obrigado!
Thank you!
So what happened with the first laptop in this video? Mine has the same problem as that one so I need to see the fix 👍
Good job like always, but I think it would be better to check the schematic first. One volt may hurt other parts in thelong time if it's out of the suitable range
If there is one available. But even without one we already know that this can be only VCCIO (0,95V), VCCST (1,05V) or VCCSA (1,05V). Only other possibility would be VCCGT but that would draw much more than under 0,5A.
So in case of VCCIO is 10% over spec and in case of other two 10% under. In case of VCCIO running it at 1V is not a big deal (most OC desktop boards give you option to go much higher than that) and other can in theory make system somewhat unstable but I'd be surprised if it make any difference on laptop.
@@gorjy9610 thanks, it enlightened me a lot.
@@Hejazi1365 np, Sorin should take some time to better explain why he choose to set it to 1V in a video, sometimes he forget that channel is named "school" :)
this kind of knowledge is very important and valuable to us,cause I am from third world country
I think the wire you soldered for the enable pin is dangerously close or even touching a leg of the potentiometer of the little board psu.
Very good , i ller a lot!!!!
This types of ic are from Silergy-Corp. I think that this is a
