Hello there, first of all thank you for your clear and helpful instructions. If i try to equalize at home and i hear popping sound in both of my ears, does this mean i won't be having problem equalizing in water? Thank you

Every time I go diving I equalize and my face just kills, my sinuses are terrible even when I don't have a cold. It just seems like I have a cold even when I don't. I will try these tips out and hopefully I get somewhere. The Frenzal helps alot, it equalizes much cleaner and easier than blowing so will test that out too, also summer is coming around so I should be healthier.

if you have sinusis issues do not eat any dairy and milk products 2 weeks before diving, also if you still have issues clean your sinusus well(read about sinus wash, but always do it with NaCl solution from pharmacy (it is not safe if you do it with regular water, bacteria there can be fatal))

SPORTS AND GAMING :) also sounds like what is called a sinus block. Sudafed should clear it up. But as stated in this video it’s not good to use it often to dive. But it might clear it up and get it under control so then you can manage your sinuses. I’m no doctor it’s just what I’ve seen. I too have sinus and mucus problems. I practice equalizing mostly every day just to maintain communication through my Eustachian tubes and it seems to work.

I use the rinse bottle from NeilMed with warm distilled water and the saline solution, once or twice a day when i feel a little mucus or a tightness in my nose, and do it for a week or so. dont do it on the day you're diving tho.

I'm having trouble equalising for a long time. My problem is kinda weird, because I'm able to equalize down, but I fell pain when I go up. Although I'm able to make some dives without felling pain, after 6 or 7 dives it becomes very painful... I've already gone to some doctors to try to find out what could be causing the problem, but never had any improvement. Does anyone knows what might be causing the problem?? This issue has already made me lost some nice trips and fishes... and thanks for the videos =)

Thats the Reverse Block mate. Its mentioned at 5:00. I get that a lot too when diving in shallows after being in the water for 3 hours or so. I think of it as your ears are already tired of equalising lol and just get out of the water. The more you dive after having that first pain ascending, the more it will hurt for each dive. And it makes this weird shriek sharp sound when i equalise again on the next time, scaring all the fish away.. golden rule, something hurts, not feeling 100% well, a little seasick or something, get out of the water :)

I dont get the meaning of equalise. When you hold your breath without pinching your nose, do you breathe out, then pinch your nose? It would be very helpful if anyome could respond. :)

I got my 12m license with an instructor yesterday. I cannot equalise, I just stay at a depth and wait for a little bit until my ears are better, then descend slowly. Anyone else have this?

I don't know. I have been swimming for years--literally all my life--and I am unable to equalize. When I try to equalize, the pain is unbearable.
No one else seems to have this issue. There must be something malformed inside my ear. If I am driving to a high altitude my ears will occasional pop and it will be painful.
No one mentions pain. I guess I gotta go see a doctor.
