  • Beer for your Ear! (Swimmers Ear for Divers). Some divers may have the awful experience of waking up after multiple days of diving with an external ear infection (Otitis Externa). Lyell will explain the causes of this malady and how to potentially prevent this from happening with an "Ear Beer" solution! (NOTE:: We do not provide medical advice on this channel, and request you consult with your physician prior to attempting this recipe. Furthermore if you have ANY suspicion of ruptured ear drum, ABSOLUTELY do not use this solution, but should consult with your physician. Lastly, this will NOT treat an active infection and again recommend you consult your physician!).

Thank you for posting this. Just got my open water cert in upstate NY 3 days ago. Woke up this morning with the exact symptoms you had mentioned.

Hi, have you had burning expirience inside of an ear orbeven pain while using this solution? And does ti affect your "ear flora" or something simmilar when using it lets say twice a day? Thanks for the video btw, it helped a lot.

Thanks for the tip - great idea. I've used alcohol since I started diving - didn't know about the vinegar fraction. For a long day of diving, is "Ear Beer" something you would use before each dive or just at the beginning of the day?

Mitch generally if I’m doing multiple dives in a day I will flush my ears prior to the start of diving and at least one other time during the day, hence why the added glycerine. It will help reduce tissue irritation. Thanks for watching!

Currently on 12 weeks of antibiotics for Necrotising Otitis Externa. Very nasty.

Dive Monster Sr. claims he needs beer for his ears after diving,
...but he needs to drink it (and lots of it), so he can handle all the stories he hears at the bar, when (wanna-be) photographers sit there with their snap-shot mini-display and show each other the next rear-end shot of another fish/turtle while talking about focal-length and white-balance instead of how to get them from the front without scaring them away... 😜
