When you've got a that sort of problem player, then running a valentine's day special like that is asking for trouble.
Wow, op had the right idea the whole time. Should've never continued playing after their 3rd session. Oof. Hope they can play again one day with no problems
Yeah, he should of trusted his guy on this one!
I’d have probably booted him out the second he mentioned wishing for women to “act their gender”. That phrase meant he was either a trad or a sex addict and if he was a trad he wouldn’t be ranting about fat asses every few minutes.
What's hilarious about people correcting "bad" English is that language is a tool.
As long as you understand what the person meant, the tool worked. This is actually what I learned when I went to university to study linguistics, so it's actually a real professional opinion.
Not that I never correct people's grammat/spelling. But, I usually only do it to be a dick when they are being one, or if I literally cannot understand what they are saying.
I would challenge you to find one native English speaker that cannot understand what "gotta" and "ain't" mean.
For a lot of my family, English was not their first language. I’ve always felt that if I could understand what was being asked than it was “good” English. I see people critique speech and wonder… is it really a gotcha/flex to say that someone is less proficient in a language than you? I just don’t get it…
I appreciate your opinion and stance. I do enjoy the beauty that a good writer can evoke through words in books. There is an elegance when it’s done at the highest level, but most people day to day try their best to do things quick and easy… I don’t know why people would think talking would be different?
Ain’t is a proper word.
@@EvoWatches what is a proper word?
@@Nerobyrne exactly. A “proper word” is defined by the person and society around them. I could say “I ain’t got nothing” and in one setting and it would be viewed as proper but in another setting it wouldn’t. In a casual setting, everything is proper.
@@EvoWatches okay that's literally what I said
Ain't is in fact a word, is a contraction form of am not, originating from Victorian era english. Additionally, using short form in speech is in fact still grammatically correct. "You a hoe" while not formal, is grammatically correct as it follows english syntax. It just removes superfluous words.
AAVE isn’t even grammatically incorrect, it’s a dialect; every language has them…
"Australian femboy tiefling artificier". This is why I love RPG games. You can get such delightfully crazy concepts in them^^
Ooh, that changing ring is a cool item.
Pretty sure it's also the gf's fetish serious sneako vibes
Sneako oh no..
Most likely. A cheater and a cuck found each other.
ok but ain't is an old english word like it is the contraction of am not it has just become less popular over the years
like i know it's not the point but people who don't like ain't for no real reason besides "it's not grammatically correct" because it is not incorrect it is old style correct...
i know those people only hate slanglike american speech because it is ascosiated with african american and they are racist but still they aren't just racist they are also blatantly stupid
the kryptonite of bigots policing language: actually knowing about the language.
@@BlazingKhioneus i hope that one day i will tell someone who is using "grammatically incorrect" as a euphemism for being casually racist that no actually it is grammatically correct to use "ain't" and they will just start crippling in pain now having to deal with the fact that they have no excuses for their racism anymore
You have a great voice! These videos are great to play in the background
In my most recent campaign, I was an asimar fighter and sorcerer. I met up with my party, and we began exploring the kingdom we were in. Trouble arose when our rogue decided it would be a good idea to steal the cranes crown. This ended about as well as you would expect, and our entire group was put on trial. I came up with a Hail Mary idea, and decided to sweet talk the king. Rolling a . Nat 20 I successfully convinced the king that I was his advisor, and second only to him in the government. This lead to me pardoning my party, I did, however, leave the Rogue to rot in prison for one session.
I interrupt sometimes but i had informed them i had an attention deficit problem and they have been very understanding and yes i apologize every time i do it
Might be the East Nashville in me but that aint bad Grammer its a accent
I’m a semi-pro kickboxer. This is why my DM is very careful when picking new players, cause broken noses exist.
Edit: This is (mostly) sarcasm y’all. Sheesh.
Oooh scary 😳
You rn >🐶👺
Pretty sure threats of physical violence aren't conducive to a cohesive social group.
@@botarakutabi1199 You have never been to Eastern Europe, my friend
Hahaha what
"I dont believe in that kind of thing"
Uhhh? What? Like, he doesn't think it's real? Pretty strong evidence it is. What a moron.
I would probably not have kicked them out over the starting issue.
There have been many times running games in public settings - at game stores, etc. - where I've had players argue for inappropriate power levels of gear. Usually, this is because they came from a DM who is looser with magic items than I am and runs their games at a higher general level of power. And that's fine.
However, when the player became routinely disruptive, they have to go. You can't spend the session yelling at each other - the other players aren't there for that and unless you have really good snacks, they're not going to come back if the entire session is just two people arguing over every little thing. The harassment, likewise, is a "they have to go" situation - I do want to emphasize, there's a difference in tables here and behavior that is appropriate at Critical Role's table may not be appropriate at your table - those people have known each other for decades, they know where their lines and veils are. They know each other and work with each other daily - and they might push a button here or there sometimes, but they're respectful of each other and their views.
If someone is, ICly, being an ass and the whole table is laughing about it - that's fantastic!
However, that's not what was happening here. It wasn't Sam Riegel being an ass and the rest of the table laughing about it.
And so, I would have removed them - to be honest, the first time they went to Capi, I probably would have quietly contacted the entire table and asked for opinions discreetly and - regardless of that - would have had a quick discussion with Rat. It sounds like they were being pretty disruptive and disrespectful to everyone, and the harassment of Capi was really just icing on the cake in terms of reason to remove them from the table.
rat is so evil also cat is probably getting abused or something like why would she defend him
I love how most of the words he was saying are real words. Also the people who say those are black things weird me out. Words like ain’t and gotta come from southern accents.
So, first off, before everything else, OP made a campaign planning mistake. In a pickup campaign like this, you don't give your players free reign to make their own homebrew items. That's something best left to tight-knit groups who already know and trust each other. But it seems like that didn't really come into play here.
Anyway, I came in here thinking this was going to be a Magical Realm situation. I didn't expect it to end in _actual sexual assault._ Holy shit on a brick.
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK LOL, LMAO EVEN
The problematic player should have left when he uncovered the linguistic difficulties of the GM.
I feel bad for cat, chances are she was abused and gaslit into believing rat preferring capi over her was just normal boyfriend behavior, that him blatantly ignoring cat was ok. I hope she got help afterward. It just hurt to see her go along with being abandoned with a smile and fervor.
could also just be polyamorous, or it could be a kink thing. hearing how rat violated capi's boundries and consent though makes me think you're right.
it's never just one thing with Those Players, is it? gotta also be criticizing someone's way of speaking in an informal, supposedly friendly setting???
If someone tells me ain't isn't a real word multiple times I'd probably punch them.
instead i'd fire back "no words are real! Theyre all made up! Whats your point?"
OP: "this guy is being racist"
also OP: *calculates the percentage of black people at the table as if that was at all relevant*
How is that racist?
It was relevant…
AAVE is "African American Vernacular English", or African American slang.
Since Rat hated bad grammar, he had a problem with AAVE.
While this might be the DM being overly sensitive, it IS relevant.
Do you like, not understand fractions?
AAVE has long been a talking point for racists to call black people unintelligent as it's a common vernacular among said ethnicity and has been deemed "gramatically incorrect." This is what we in the trade call a racist dog whistle. Nitpicking a black person's grammar when they speak in AAVE is often times subtly being racist in a way that your average joe wont recognize but other racists in the know would, hence the term dog whistle. Theyre used to get your catharsis of hating this group unlike you but with the plausible deniability of "what do you mean im being racist? I'm just a stickler for grammar." Now, they could possibly be just that much of a stickler for grammar, but that would require a severe lack of social awareness to constantly press the issue the way they did without realizing how that might look.
God, I hate AAVE, but I have no room to really talk as I slip into texmex with lots of regional Hispanic slang.
