My biggest mistake in fashion was believing that I would dress better the more clothes I had, when in reality it was the other way around. Great video btw
Yea same. But once I built up a few basics to build around, it did create a door where when I do find a louder item I like, I can make it work with those sets. Like a black pant with a black coat and a tshirt with print. Or a blue jeans with a white shirt and a squared overshirt. Or a set with mostly basics and a pair of more visible sneakers. But then you get what Harry says. A wardrobe of mostly basics with some louder pieces that can go with many of those basics.
Yeah, I needed this is a reminder. I tend to find one piece I like and before I’m even sure I love it, I buy multiple colours of the same. Later on I find I don’t really love any of them
@@charliedalton1778 yea for basic pieces I dont mind. If the item is ry cool I dont mind owning 2. But for loud stuff, no... The loud things are there to compliment the basics, they cannot take over.

When I was 24 I figured my style from now on is just gonna be a checkered shirt and jeans until I die. Now I‘m 37 and dress like an add from a Sci-Fi movie lol 😂
The tip about boots and other shoes that aren't sneakers just called me out🤣. I have been sneaker heavy for a couple of years but I realized a few months ago that I need to have some more options for different outfits and occasions as I continue to enhance my style. Thanks for the reminder!

Buying into the advice of wearing according to your age was the worst mistake I made. A full circle and I am back to what I love wearing and it just works (thankfully didn’t take too long to realise). It takes time to fine-tune your style to your shape and overall personality which has got nothing to do with age imo. Great video Harry as always!

Just wanted to say that the 6:15 look fits you really well, especially the pants are perfect for you. I was surprised that it was an example of what not to do lol... But definitely wear what makes you happy! Love your vids mate!!
Harry, genuinely love your advice and approach to fashion. I was starting to get a bit self-conscious with my wider fits since I'm in my 30's now and all the menswear fashions are talking about how it's only a Gen Z thing but then you said the magic phrase "today is the youngest you will ever be" and boom, complete mindset shift! :)
Personally i don’t buy a lot of trends, but the reason why is not because I don’t want to look like everybody else, instead it’s because I’m afraid I’ll be bored of the trendy item too quickly, since I didn’t discover the item on my own
Thanks for the body and age positivity, your look is not what I would wear nor what would suit me (bigger man) but I love your vibe. Strength to you 💪🏾
First advice is golden. I had a stage where I just wanted to be simple and minimal, but at heart I am a musician and an artist. Eventually I started getting back into graphic tees tho a bit curated and I usually just buy from other artists (not generic mass produced shirts) and getting back into edgier clothing. Sometimes I dress preppy, sometimes a bit edgy. Basically, you can’t box yourself in. Don’t be just “one style.” People are wonderful complex beings so let your clothing be that way as well
I have tried changing my style few times. Three times at least. I wanted to wear more elegant clothes, as I was ageing I wanted to have more sophisticated wardrobe. It didn't work. I was always getting back to my casual, street style. Even though I just turned 50. So I guess my bigger mistake was trying to be someone else instead of being myself. Good thing it was just clothes that I have sold afterwards. I really appreciate the thing you said at the end. There are so many videos popping on my YT home page regarding fashion and messages what I should or should not wear. Ridiculous. That is why I value your content so much. Thanks for a great work.
That last one about age hits home. I’m tired of watching videos of people telling guys how to dress when you’re older. Style is subjective. Age absolutely plays a mild part, but some of these videos are so restricting that they take all the fun out of it.
What I really love about the channels from yourself and James Leung is there's a playfulness, a fun about fashion;l of finding your own style, but also a mindfulness of curating ideas for us to ponder. It's what makes Sunday lunchtimes such a joy to dive into. As an idea for a future episode .. a short while ago you mentioned the t-shirts from musicians you loved. It would be ace to hear about what the artist means to you , what you like about the t-shirt and how the two intersect. Also of the fashion options you've paired them with. Cheers again for an ace watch :)
Great to hear and glad you enjoy the videos. I would love to talk more about music but I did videos a long time ago and people weren’t that interested so I didn’t make more. I get it though. Music is such a personal thing. Have a good week
I can't agree you more. My biggest mistake was staying in the same style and avoiding any clothes that didn't fit the style. My style turns out to be boring.
Fun as usual and sound advice. Biggest mistake? Knowing my style and wanting to adapt to what I saw on social media. Still got a bomber jacket in the closet. Liked the trend, liked the looks I did see - never did wear it. Happy Sunday mate and we usual, cheers from Germany 😊🙏🏻
I totally agree, my esthetic is 70% preppy and 30% experimental... Ever since I retired a couple of years ago I've been experimenting more and more with fashion. I am 57 years old and having a great time ... Cheers 🥂
idk man.. dressing to your image is good. it's fun. you learn from your mistakes. and that's what you'll remember for the rest of your life. It's a memory bank of your life man.
I stick to the same aesthetic because it makes me happy. If I’m wearing something I don’t like, I don’t FEEL joy 😂 I’m simple, basic black t, basic black Levi’s 501, Reebok Club C all white or 85 vintage…… or basic white t, white Levi’s 501, White Reebok club c or basic LIGHT LIGHT Pink t, EVERY VERY LIGHT pink Levi’s 501 jeans , WHITE or Vintage club c…… yes, monochrome minimalist and have been this way for over 20 years….. BEFORE “minimalism” was cool. I was born in The USA but raised in Nigeria and came back to the USA in my teenage and have been “minimalist” since because when I saw how difficult life is for the average human being in Nigeria(and many people on earth), it became impossible to make THINGS my priority….. so I simplified my entire lifestyle to leave more room for clarity, peace… more room to be able to provide support for those who need it…….I didn’t want to become a slave to my tools/things. I’m also an engineer so my mind needs as much space as possible so my fashion is very Marc Zuckerberg/Steve jobs/ Rick Rubin like, it is basically there to cover my nudity 😂 FUNCTION FASHION ! If I don’t need it, I don’t have it……. I keep it VERY CLEAN tho…… everyone has their reason for how we fashion ourselves.. as long as it gives you PEACE, confidence, joy etc give you room to be the best servant you can be to mankind ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ BLESSINGS TO ALL! love this channel ❤❤❤❤❤
Great video ! And I agree with so much of it. I’m 47, and I still love blending a little bit of trendy stuff, with classics. I’m currently absolutely loving the trend of the cropped tshirt or camp collar shirt. It breaks up my waist nice and makes me look a touch taller while also staying nice and comfortable around my less than 6 pack abs. And, THANK GOD skinny pants are gone!
Completely agree with the second point. What some people, including myself at a certain point, don't realize is that real life doesn't look anything like how social media is claiming it to be. The sambas have been trending for a while now but where I live, on a normal day out I could see two pairs of those, max, on the streets. Don't let other people's opinions stop you from buying what you like the look of, of course that is if you REALLY do like it
Made ALL of these mistakes lol. But going thru them all, you end up either keeping or ditching some aspects of those mistakes and incorporating them to your current style. Refinement is key! Regarding dressing your age, I always argue that there’s 70yr old men in Japan that dress better than even the most fashionable millenial! I’ve thrown off my 20yo/genZ coworkers one day when I asked them what year they graduated high school. When they asked me, I told them 2000. And they just stood there waiting, “uhh, 2000…what?” 😂 Sure, I might have good genes, but I’m sure my fashion choices is a huge part of it.
The Baggy trend absolutely does not fit to my body shape.. i look like an absolute clown when i wear lose / Baggy pants and they stack on my shoes.. i think the problem is that im only 5'10" and i have a very muscular upper body, like chest and back and a whide waist.. this in combination always look weird, even my GF says it looks weird. so like you said, dont wear trends that dont fit to your body shape, i just have to accept it.. slim / and cropped pants work perfect for me, i usually wear cropped straight pants... sometimes im really sad that the slim pants trend is over, i rocked this so much from 2009 to 2017 haha.. i guess ill have to wait, i will for sure come back some day..
A quick question. Everyone says buy pants according to your waist size. But waist is around or just above belly button then how does that make sense when everyone wears pants two inches down from belly button? Thanks.
Had a tutor at uni who dressed like those RUclipsrs who tell you what not to wear over the age of 40. We called him Next catalogue. So basic and boring imo !
Got any tips for someone who has been set in one style for a while and gets ridiculed if he tries new things? [for example, a cropped jacket, a ring, or a necklace]. The thought of getting laughed at stops me for trying the pieces out that I buy
I wish I knew that dressing for your body type was a thing, before I had to figure it out myself the hard way. Now I'm transitioning into more fits that would work with my build, that really contradict what I used to like
Tbh, as we grew older obviously we have developed a style for each our own, as for me before there was a goth emo era, now I prefer to wear some comfortable clothes with minimal esthetic. 😂
My most recent fashion regret was buying *that* Ferrari jacket about 6 months before it blew up on TikTok, and all the fake F1 fangirls got their hands on it! I wore it to a race event last weekend, and the amount of sarcastic looks and comments I received was concerning! I sold it on Vinted the next day. Technically not a fashion regret, but definitely another example of social media influencing society’s opinions! Great video as always mate!👌🏼
Another great video Harry. I definitely relate to the dress for your body one. I used to be skinny but not so much anymore. So I’ve changed to relaxed fitting clothes. Have a good day. ✌️
I like making the misbuys still somehow work Like with shoes that I bought but quickly didnt like anymore because I was still searching for my shoe style. End up in the hallway and hallway shoes are the beaters. I will wear them during dogwalks, out on rainy days. Its the easy and accesible shoes and if they get beaten up and break down, its fine. But I also got a bright pink tshirt a few years ago. And it is super comfortable but its quite bright. But then I found that when I wear a whole bunch of neutral things that has like not much on it, that tshirt does add a little pop of color. Like a dark jeans and a black or grey vest over it. And when I really cant make an item work, I often give it away. But since I somewhat found my basics, I have found ways to get pieces to work on top of the basics. I do lean more towards the 2000's skate style, but with a more adult touch to it. I just never grew out of that and with my bodyshape, this fits me best and looks best on me. And due to my shortness I have to stay away from a few items. Like long coats. They look like I rolled up in a blanket on me because they are just too long for me.
Awesome video, mate! You definitely should ask yourself about how I know I can't do something, if some restrictive thought appears in your head. Often, it's someone else words from the past, e.g. mother didn't allow to wear wide jeans.
I'm currently struggling to find stuff that I even like enough to wear... That's my biggest issue. Most pieces I try out just don't feel right. In the last few months, I have ordered and returned over 50 pieces, worth over £15,000, and ended up with only 2 things I like and 3 things that are just okay enough for me to wear when I'm in need. I still have older pieces I love, but some of them are starting to wear down, and I simply can't find anything I love anymore. Fashion isn't even fun anymore because it's such a hassle finding pants that I can wear to work without being uncomfortable. I would have regretted not trying things, but what do you do if you don't like any of the new things you try?
I go through phases like that. Went through it very recently myself and it lasted months and months. I just have to ride it out and then eventually I’ll get a spell where I see loads I like
Thought of a video idea for you. Do a vlog style video where you go in to a store and pick out a few things. Then talk about how quality can be spotted and compare certain things. I think a lot of us dont know that well enough.
Excellent watching! And totally relate. Specifically on the rocker look and having a most muscular build. How about a video on dressing a slightly more muscular build? Thanks, Harry!
Good sound advice as always, Harry! Personally, l only have one rule: does it look good/work on me or not. That's it. Even if I don't really like something but it looks good on me I'll buy it, and vice versa. I'd rather look good than only wear what I like. Cheers! (btw some of that acting totally betrayed your Emo roots! lol)
It was all good in the end. Luckily I didn’t have many problems with these. I did only wear them for short periods at the start though, which might have helped.
A big one for me is, growing up too fast. Thinking once you hit 20, whelp time to look like a finance bro(I'm not a finance bro)/Grandpa. Also don't be caught up in ideas of "masculinity" and "femininity".
@@HarryHas Oh weird it corrected itself when I looked just now, just 14 downvotes. Might be the add on I'm using that was wonky. Was so surprised why you got down voted so hard lol.
Definitely true of trying to dress like an image in your head and one for a different body shape - I've recently bought so much stuff that fits the look perfectly, but when I wear it, it just doesn't work. So many fashion bloggers seem to be 5ft 8 and want to make their legs look longer with their clothes - which their outfits do a great job of - and they look awesome - but I'm slowly realising that what suits me is quite the opposite!
I have linked what I can from this video in the description. Cheers for watching and have a good one 🤟

Tbh, as we grew older obviously we have developed a style for each our own, as for me before there was a goth emo era, now I prefer to wear some comfortable clothes with minimal esthetic. 😂
what did you think about using a elegant style like nordic style and using some sports itens like nsltd boots from yeezy and oakley sunglases?
My most recent fashion regret was buying *that* Ferrari jacket about 6 months before it blew up on TikTok, and all the fake F1 fangirls got their hands on it!
I wore it to a race event last weekend, and the amount of sarcastic looks and comments I received was concerning!
I sold it on Vinted the next day.
Technically not a fashion regret, but definitely another example of social media influencing society’s opinions!
Great video as always mate!👌🏼
The age thing relates. Im 42 now and look it and I worry abiut looking too try hard in a leather jacket
Great video
Only one problem… they’re called trainers!
You should be a Ralph Lauren runway model. Good RUclips videos too!
again a perfect video thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it bro
My inner monologue voice has a slight whistle on it s’s when it’s being harsh but I don’t 🤔
doesn't have to do with this video but the link for your belt is always broken can you reshare or list the name of it
All this video it’s to convince yourself that it was a good deal to buy the new shoes 😂😂
how did you think you were going to rock the wafflestompers?
Banging content as always Harry
Thank you mate
the guys in yoga pants trend is really weird to me, but if you feel good do your thing
Uh Why are you styled like how we grew up in an image ?
Another great video Harry. I definitely relate to the dress for your body one. I used to be skinny but not so much anymore. So I’ve changed to relaxed fitting clothes. Have a good day. ✌️
Thanks mate. Have a good one too
The year is 2024 and Harry keeps throwing facts.
Appreciate it bro 🙏
I like making the misbuys still somehow work
Like with shoes that I bought but quickly didnt like anymore because I was still searching for my shoe style.
Big thumbs up from South Africa 🇿🇦 👍
I agree with all this
James Leung and Harry upload timing 🤔
The best part of the video was, “see you latah!”
More crazy sneakers! Because its important to push back on what people think you are. 😅😊
L take on buying 'dress' fashion loafers that can't be resoled. should've done the thing where you buy the different thing better than the trend.
I enjoy them and very happy with them
liked the vid immediately when he did the fake cry face
Excellent watching! And totally relate. Specifically on the rocker look and having a most muscular build. How about a video on dressing a slightly more muscular build? Thanks, Harry!
3:05 - 3:10 should be a part of Shakespeare somet
6ft skinny dude with 22-23 inch quads checking in 🙋♂️. It's tapered life for me 😭 even though I want to dress like a YSL model.
You look like the guy on Baby reindeeer. 😭
Good sound advice as always, Harry! Personally, l only have one rule: does it look good/work on me or not. That's it. Even if I don't really like something but it looks good on me I'll buy it, and vice versa. I'd rather look good than only wear what I like. Cheers! (btw some of that acting totally betrayed your Emo roots! lol)
How is your heel looking after breaking in the docs? I love mine but damn the beginning was tough
It was all good in the end. Luckily I didn’t have many problems with these. I did only wear them for short periods at the start though, which might have helped.
You look like the singer from Ultra Sunn lol
A big one for me is, growing up too fast. Thinking once you hit 20, whelp time to look like a finance bro(I'm not a finance bro)/Grandpa. Also don't be caught up in ideas of "masculinity" and "femininity".
wtf is going on with the dislikes. 1.7k thumbs up and 3.4k downvotes? what on earth.
Where are you seeing that? This video has a 99% upvotes
