This video is a godsend! Ive had a QNAP for a while and was interested in dockers but there's very little guides on how to set it up. I've been struggling with container station and due to this vid might give portainer a try. Subbed.
Wow. I just saw dozens of hours of configuring, condensed in a few min RUclips video. Can i just hire you to set all this up for me one day?
Very excited to dive into this myself, I'm pretty new to managing my library I've built over the years and am ready to get it automated
Whaaaat !? That setup is crazy, bravo ! ! ! Also 100 TB 🤯
This is above and beyond, so many helpful containers I didn't know existed. 🔥🚀👏
Awesome information, I moved and need to upgrade my NAS. I can't wait to get more info on each container.
What do you have now? Definitely check out some of the QNAP models. Highly recommend if you are already familiar with NAS systems and looking to upgrade
Fire vid, I did not know about prowler been using Jackett and putting everything in manually, absolute life changer
Man, that's crazy! Tnx for showing what is possible 👌🏻
You bet!
Thanks, Mr. Buckwheat! I needed this.
Cool video! Gonna try some of this applications on my server with Plex.
Go for it!
What a great video. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video!
I have a 6 bay 72XT and only use it for Plex, i would love to be able to use it for much more like you have yours setup.
Look forward to seeing your coming videos for getting the most out of a QNAP NAS.
Thanks! stay tuned, new one will be uploaded soon
@@mrbuckwheet Hi friend, I’m enjoying the series so far.
Could I please ask, what M.2 SSD’s are you using in your 72XT? You said you have QTS and apps installed on it and everything is fast. Also how hot do they run and do you use a specific heat sink on them?
I am yet to buy any M.2’s, I was initially going to for just caching for Plex but held off.
I have my system and apps installed on a single 1TB SSD in bay 1, but would like to have the option to increase my storage pool with adding another HDD in the future, so the M.2 slots could be for the system/apps etc.
Great Video and am very jealous of your plex setup. just a heads up at 19:50 the movie “9” was actually released in 09/09/2009 not 2005.
Thank you and nice find haha fixed now
i'm here from reddit. thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Glad it was helpful!
Can you go through what network security you have applied. Going into your network architecture at home and the various configurations you have set up for inspiration to improve home security posture?
Mans made his own streaming service.
Edit: I thought the humor in my comment was pretty obvious, and that it was harmless, but since this comment made someone so upset, I just want to say that it’s just a joke.
Ummm, what? I don't think you understand what a "streaming service" is. FYI, he uses plex for his streaming service.
@@ROBERT-ml7ml its just a joke, buddy. With my Plex setup at my house, I jokingly refer to it as NotFlix when I share my severs content with friends and family.
@@ROBERT-ml7mlWoooosh smh
@@ROBERT-ml7ml Do you take everything literally at face value?
@@ROBERT-ml7mlDang. It’s not too late to delete this lmao😂😂. Dude was joking.
I'm definitely interested in some Tdar help. I have a pretty similar setup with the basic arr apps, but I've never figured out Tdar to make my users' life (and mine) better for streaming.
My tdarr has a couple of profiles set for tv and movies. Every couple of months I'll trun on a special profiles for my tv shows and convert to custom 265 setting. Turn off monitoring for that show and done. Kind of like archiving the show but not deleting
great video. subbed
Wow! great tutorial. I'm a complete noob and completely lost. With container station already installed, do I also need to install docker like you did in the Ubuntu VM, or can I skip that step and go straight to installing Portainer via putty? Thanks
Very cool! Why plex over emby/jellyfin? Is it better?
In my opinion, yes. Now I'm sure people disagree, and that's ok, but plex has more market share for 3rd party apps and support than any other media hosting app. I have not had any issues using plex over the years and have also tried emby and jellyfin and still prefer plex. Even the issues people had that caused them to switch work just fine for me, hense why I'm making these tutorials.
@@mrbuckwheet Very cool. Thanks!
Here from reddit. Subbed!
Thank you
I'm newish into all of this. Ive spun up and messed around on TrueNAS, OMV both on baremetal and within a proxmox VE.
Would/could something like this best be ran within TrueNAS or OMV? or best to use ProxMox for it?
Sorry i'm lost and trying to figure out which OS/VE I want to run on my server I built.
There are many factors that play a role in deciding which OS to use. Personally I recommend to K.I.S.S. You have to run docker in a VM with TrueNAS or ProxMox. So really you are going to use another OS that supports docker on top of whatever you decide on using. If you are building a custom machine and spending over $1500 Id say OK to trueNAS or even UnRaid. If not and you have 6 or fewer HDDs just install Ubuntu as the OS. Also don't run a full Windows VM just for containers because at that point you're just wasting resources, don't care what anyone says as the whole point of this is to be efficient
@@mrbuckwheet Currently I have pieced together a i3-8100 cpu, 16gb ram (another 32 on the way), 3 1tb HDD's and 2 256gb SSD for storage. OS for server runs on 256 NVMe M.2. I have a rx480 inside for pcie passthrough and 4 more 2tb drives on the way. (also just won an auction on an intel raid controller... no idea what to even do with that one lmao)
Currently running Proxmox VE and so far just 1 VM running OMV.
Do you have video how to set this all up together? All this rrr apps
Soon. Problem is everyone has different systems and devices so the idea is to show you how to get Portainer installed first since its the same regardless of what device you are using. Future videos will use portainer as the installer since all setting/configs will be universal
@@mrbuckwheetthanks. More interested in those settings and how they all work together
Also is there alternatives to plex?
Yes. jellyfin, emby, infuse, kodi are just some of the alternatives. Keep in mind that plex probably has the most support from 3rd party developers and seems to always be prioritized when looking for integration with other apps.
How do I join your server? Haha! It's absolutely amazing.
Haha Thanks
How do we join your discord server?
My discord server is still setup for personal use and only my friends and family who are using plex have access. Since this channel is still kind of small I do not have a public one yet. Once it grows a little more ill set something up but for now you can DM me with any questions or if help is needed
@@mrbuckwheet thank you! How do I go about DMing you? I can't see such an option on RUclips
info@mrbuckwheet.com or on discord @mrbuckwheet
it's possible for me to subscripe monthly payment to your server?
Sorry my server is for friends and family only
My man called subtitles "bloat" gtfo here
I explained why I removed them from the file and keep the srt separate at 21:12
Wow. I just saw dozens of hours of configuring, condensed in a few min RUclips video. Can i just hire you to set all this up for me one day?
Haha absolutely
