I just ordered myself a nice little minipc, which will be partly used for this. Having a quick breakout to present the layers of the setup helps get a clear/quick overview.
Thanks.
This is by far the best media server vid I've seen in years! Could you do a longer format walk through?
Seriously, great vid!
Great video mate! Very helpful for someone like me that is just getting into setting up a home lab.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome stuff, I'm currently running SMB and media server using vlc to watch on my TV.
This is really cool. May be I can use my old laptop as a server
Thank you!!!! Loved the video
Wow, I have spent all day searching for videos to help me with my first server and yours answered all the questions I’ve had!
Looking forward to learning how to use usenet
More like this please!
great video. i got my setup running just now. it's amazing with sonarr and radarr, don't need to look up torrent files manually and etc
I know.
It absolutely blew my mind when I first found out you could automate all of it.
For years I was doing everything manually it was such a pain 😂
@@techwithdavidolding I didn't think I needed a nas because I found a mega streaming site that crawls the Web for all shows, but I guess a nas would good though now 😂
True Gem 💎💎
Great video! What's your desktop wallpaper? It looks great!
Thanks!
It's "Night By The Lake" published by "Rolua" on wallpaper engine.
I've just released a video detailing how to get a desktop setup similar to mine with that wallpaper --> ruclips.net/video/-V1MC9Ygjmk/видео.html
Almost the same as my setup. Although I am using Jackett instead of Prowlsrr and I’m using Plex instead of Jellyfin.
What hardware config do you use for running your server? Like your videos.
Thanks
I'm running my entire media server on a raspberry pi 4.
Using the default Raspberry Pi OS with default hardware config settings and most of my services running in individual docker containers.
Doing literally the same but with casaOS @@techwithdavidolding
What hardware are you using for the Media Server? Is it really just a Raspberry Pi? I am asking because I would like to upgrade from my current setup, which runs Plex on my NAS (TerraMaster F2-212)
Yep -- everything is running on a raspberry pi 4.
It works really well, just need to make sure hardware transcoding is disabled as its not powerful enough for that.
The only thing I would change is to move my raspberry pi boot drive from a micro SD card to a usb powered SSD.
I would even go further with docker compose and say that it is faster to have 1 docker compose or stack that has in it all the containers you need. So if you have to deploy again the containers you can just run 1 command and everything is back again.
True.
I like having the logical separation with many smaller files for some reason.
Either way - I should definitely put these files into some form of source control in case my SD card ever fails and I lose all the config 😂
cool
Can you make a Video about Usenet?
Sure,
I don't know much about Usenet yet - but it is something I want to learn more about.
I'll do some research and share the findings in a future video.
im using tailscale as a private VPN so ill have access to everything
This is the way.
Needs Tailscale!
Absolutely agree!
I discovered tailscale a few weeks after I made this video 😅
For everyone else tailscale lets you access your media server from anywhere in the world... not just while you're connected to your home network.
There's an install guide here if anyone is interested: ruclips.net/video/ZtYhL9hCdMw/видео.htmlsi=vTl2ffxOVSLX_BQX
