Race Of Remembrance 2021

  • We were invited to get back behind the wheel of our donated Citroen C1 by Mission Motorsport for the annual epic Race of Remembrance at Anglesey. Joining a team of former service personnel that included Aston Dimmock, Laurence Roke, Matt Stringer, Ben Norfolk as well as Nurburgring specialist Olly Brand, we integrated smoothly but it wasn’t long before Nik had his spanners out.
As will become apparent when you watch it, it is far more about teamwork than the race itself and the injuries that people in the forces can suffer include many that the naked eye can see. It was an honour to take part in what we believe is the event of the year in the British race events calendar!

Massive respect to the bloke that brought the car home after a PTSD Episode. I've had my own mental health problems, nothing as serious as that and definitely couldn't have driven a car when I had an attack. Most of the time I'd be greatful to get to the bog in time before simultaneously evacuating both ends.🤣

@@mikemusser seemed like they were unnecessarily rude about it tbh. I understand it was a bit of a situation, but the bom guys werent doing anything wrong, didnt even know what was going on, and some guy starts shouting and swearing at them. The 2nd guy was a little more understanding, at least explained to them so they knew what to do.
Basically treated the pair of them like a couple of complete areseholes before even giving them a chance to do the thing they would have done without question anyway.

@@Nbomber Yeah agreed, if my friend was having a problem like that I'd just want to get their attention and tell them to move asap and clearly, not just shouting at someone to f** off without anyone knowing what was going on. But I will add that PTSD can be caused by any traumatic experience, it doesn't have to be combat related.
