Race Of Remembrance 2021

- We were invited to get back behind the wheel of our donated Citroen C1 by Mission Motorsport for the annual epic Race of Remembrance at Anglesey. Joining a team of former service personnel that included Aston Dimmock, Laurence Roke, Matt Stringer, Ben Norfolk as well as Nurburgring specialist Olly Brand, we integrated smoothly but it wasn’t long before Nik had his spanners out.
As will become apparent when you watch it, it is far more about teamwork than the race itself and the injuries that people in the forces can suffer include many that the naked eye can see. It was an honour to take part in what we believe is the event of the year in the British race events calendar!

Can we take a moment to appreciate the filming and editing? This was above and beyond broadcast quality. Fantastic quality, Ben! Thank you for your hard work! It was truly a joy to watch.
Took a few months, clearly a lot of sweat and tears went into it.
Thank you very much Mark, that means a lot.
When you have 6 months to edit, it better be good. :D :D :D
Absolutely! To condense a 12 hour race and all that happens along the way into a watchable, followable narrative in 45 min is no small feat! Cheapeau gents.
I can't wait for their videos. Every one is worth the wait. The music is always great too.
Shout out to the Skid Factory " Lemon Squash" and MCM " In the bin". Fantastic episode, thank you for sharing the stories of the often forgotten veterans, thank you.
Next thing we know, our local lads will start getting the funk out or lusting over one-off brackets. Great vid. All the best to the drivers, crew, and any supporters. Would love to have a go even if I have no talent for it.
@@patriograysmark6328 I say 'go for it' 😁
I was hoping for a Freiburger "Mint!" and a Finnegan "Best day at work ever!" as well. Still great though!
Their tribute to others is a tribute to them.
*Nods back in MCM*
Thought the same thing. Episode was amazing. As an Aussie to get a few laughs as an youtube car channel follower was even better🙂
Massive respect to the bloke that brought the car home after a PTSD Episode. I've had my own mental health problems, nothing as serious as that and definitely couldn't have driven a car when I had an attack. Most of the time I'd be greatful to get to the bog in time before simultaneously evacuating both ends.🤣
Yeah, that bloke was a soldier alright! Can't imagine the willpower behind the decision to keep racing instead of parking it on the green with the hazard lights on.
100%! I used to get panic attacks and there's basically no way I'd be able to avoid a crash if one hit while I was driving, seriously impressive stuff
And massive props to the whole team for graciously dealing with it. From a mate who stands up and says you need to F' off for a bit to protect someone else, to the team that understands the situation and respects what needs to be done. Inspiring in all areas.
@@mikemusser seemed like they were unnecessarily rude about it tbh. I understand it was a bit of a situation, but the bom guys werent doing anything wrong, didnt even know what was going on, and some guy starts shouting and swearing at them. The 2nd guy was a little more understanding, at least explained to them so they knew what to do.
Basically treated the pair of them like a couple of complete areseholes before even giving them a chance to do the thing they would have done without question anyway.
@@Nbomber Yeah agreed, if my friend was having a problem like that I'd just want to get their attention and tell them to move asap and clearly, not just shouting at someone to f** off without anyone knowing what was going on. Was just bizarre and confusing until the second guy explained it...
"I brought a spanner. He's getting changed" My favourite line.
Mine too
yeah , Nic's one-liners are usually top class
Good on the BOM boys for being involved in such a fantastic initiative!
Desperate for an Escargot episode!
Same. I was in this for the wrenching, not the racing...
Hi guys, I am so happy to see this. I was there and hoped that “Bert” my assistance dog helped Ben in his own little way. This was only the second time I had been out in two years myself as a CPTSD sufferer myself.
To top it all it has only just clicked that the binky guys were in the same garage as our team 😃 Doh …
It was ace to meet you and Bert, such an awesome dog. You and he definitely helped.
Agreed. Cheers Keith - right place & right time ✊
@@bennorfolk276 👌 hope you are doin ok mate
@@keithhoremans Sup. Yes mate - doing okay. After Bert, I now borrow a Border Collie most weekends - Scout is mental (we can say that 🤪) but we bloody love him! Hope RoR was a good start for you getting back out more
It was an honour to be at this event and great fun to race with you guys! See you again in November 🙂🏁🏎
WELL NEEDED CONTENT from my Favorite YT channel!!! - Jesus it's been too long boys! Please post ANYTHING - sweeping the floor, mowing the lawn, washing your wifes car- We're dying out here!!!! Miss you guys!
Massive props to all the service men and women risking their lives in the conflicts around the world.
Heroes all of them!
Fighting your own PTSD while racing - respect to the man. I guess this, not only the fun, is why the event is worth it. Great video, thanks!
Ooh man that sliding seat saga was some legendary high-pressure bracketry, the sort of stuff that makes endurance racing so exciting (and exhausting)
reminds of topp gear 24h racing when the whole car got in parts to fix it.
Love the “TotalD” oil stickers hahaha
Also the racing number;-69!Other than it’s usual connotations, handy for identifying the car if it’s arse upwards!
@@dennislane100 that’s awesome! Hahah
What an honour to be driving with such a tremendous team.
Sometimes dreams do come true
Thanks guys, as a veteran and now a volunteer, I muchly appreciate what you and Mission Motorsport does for my brothers and sisters, Thanks
Who's your best cyclist in this generation
Fantastic film guys, really well filmed, narrated and paced, felt like it told a real story. Respect to the team on and off the track. Finally... In the bin!
Another fantastic video. Most viewers don't appreciate the hard work in filming and editing these videos. Like Mark Lindsay CNC said lets take a moment to appreciate your hard work. We also need to thank Mission Motorsports, all the other sponsors and especially the volunteers that made and make this race series possible.
awesome episode, great to see some racing. also, thanks for the nods to the local boys The Skid Factory and Mighty Car Mods in the edits - legends.
This made me feel like I was there! Like I was one of the crew. Felt the pace of the ups and down, and the heart everyone had in it.
Respect to your understanding and explanation of the challenges of coming home with mental health difficulties, it’s too often gone unseen and disregarded in the mainstream.
Thank you to everyone involved and the excellent editing from Ben.
Looks like it was a fantastic event for a great cause. Pleasure to watch.
Seeing Rich get all emotional for what the weekend was... awesome. Great camera/editing work - must have been so many hours worth of footage to create this piece of art/entertainment! (I miss Binky, but that doesn't take anything away from this awesome piece of content.)
Love the "IN THE BIN" MCM reference
Congratulations BOM on superbly capturing the event and for helping a great cause.
Yes, some people had a great racing weekend, clearly others just got out for the weekend and for a time, forgot about the things going on in their lives and within themselves.
This to me is the most important part 💙
That was the fastest 45 minutes of my life.
Don't you find every episode goes past so quickly? Feels like 10 minutes everytime.
Congratulations to all. Brilliant video. Well done Ben. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍
Thank You. I could say many words but thank you sponsors, Drivers, Film Crew, Editors. Everyone. Great Job.
Absolutely amazing guys. Brilliant cause and a brilliant race.
Rich... please get your glasses fitted properly though. If you're ever in East Sussex let me know and I'll fit them for you 😂
Bloody brilliant thank you all .
Just Wonderful! Lest we forget.
Inspirational, and one of the best events in UK racing.
Outstanding racing for an Outstanding cause. Cheers from Canada!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to our servicemen and women who gave so much for us. Hopefully events like this provide some road to healing from the mental and physical scars. Top work BOM 👍
Great show, thanks for bringing us along.
Normally when I watch a video about fast cars at Anglesea, it's Chris Harris thrashing the living daylights out of some elite piece of exotica whilst giggling his head off.
This was even better.
Well I for one could quite happily sit through another 45mins of that, thanks for filming it guys, & thanks for posting it!
Always a treat to see what you blokes are up to. Great race, great people, great fun, and quality production! Thank you for your hard work!
6:48 Absolutely iconic moment.
Huge respect to you lads and the rest of the boys for taking this on, looked like a brilliant time.
Errr..... Dear Mr. BOM; I used to 'modify' cars and you took it to another level. Your challenge (if you choose to accept it) is a 1990 2.1d CitroenXM and a 2001VW 100bhp(lowest-powered) 1.9 diesel..
When ah were a lad I fixed/sorted old Landrovers as a business (totally word-of-mouth) but now I'm a mental cripple but appreciate your work......
Thanks for taking us along for this wonderful fantastic event!!!
I love that you give back so much to the community and motorsports!!!
Awesome video! Glad you guys got to go and see your car again. I love the extra non-build stuff you have been adding to the channel, as long as it's great quality like this, keep it coming!
Massive respect to you all for racing the event and helping these men heal. I hope those who suffer from PTSD have systems and procedures within thier own families to help them. Well done to the team member for reacting quickly to prevent a full on episode flare up.
Keep up the good work all ❤️
I suffer from non military ptsd, I am fine. Until I’m not.
Thanks for the reply! Keep doing what you enjoy most 😁
A great vid guys. Hats off to you all for bringing us this great event in such quality too. To all our heroes, thank you for your commitment. Well done to the organisers and volunteers for creating an event worthy of our service personnel.
Well done to all concerned. Awesome stuff!!
@41:26 "Where should we put that, Martin?" 😆
Such a great film. I really enjoyed it and am thankful for all the wonderful people that helped make this event happen. It’s a great cause and an awesome race!
I thought that this was really fantastic. Bravo to everyone who had a great time, and also took care of each other. Brimming over with 'totally awesome'.
Adding value, Lads. Impressive. Thank you.
What a brilliant event, that looked like a lot of fun!
The videography is above and beyond
Great content and editing - handled everything with enthusiasm and great care.
Great to see you back guys and what a well worth cause . Least We Forget 🇬🇧
What a great video lads, congrats to all concerned from the marshalls to the sweeperuppers, and great to see you two numpties too, well done.
Well done lads ,true heroes helping people out doing something you love !! great production quality as well 🎬!!
Watching this on the eve of ANZAC day here in Aus.
Massive thanks to all the lads that served, couldn't imagine returning home and trying to live a normal life ❤️
Thank you BOM for sharing, really well put together story or inspirational motor racing event
That was true fun!
A truly brilliant event. Long may it continue. ❤❤
EPIC! Well done to you all.
Great show. Always best quality.
Excellent work all around.
11/10! Grazie Mille.
Thank you too our service people :)
Hugs for everyone.
You all did a great job. 😃👍
"In the bin!" - lol. Nice tip of the hat to Mighty Car Mods.
Very cool. Thanks for sharing. 🇨🇦
Nik cracks me up. “I brought a spanner, he’s getting changed” 😂😂😂😂
Love everything about this episode! Will watch you blokes do shit like this forever!
Excellent!
Fantastic video team! And a brilliant event from Jim and the team behind it.
Superb effort by all. I have ridden the Ride of Respect several times and have experienced the comradeness, having served too it was really motivating for civilian life. To be with similar folks for a while, really does charge the system in a fantastic way. Here with the racing it looks so cool. Especially for those on the mend, so to speak. I have a little shell shock myself, but these guys are the real deal. So proud to see this. Hope it goes on for a long time to come. Thanks :)
fantastic to watch, well done lads
Great vid as usual. And it come up on my feed on Anzac day. Thanks for your service, and lest we forget. ❤
Great event and fantastic cause. 2x👍
ANYONE who steps up to the plate gets my TY for your service, even if they are medicaled out of the service after 2 weeks of basic training... they STEPED UP!
ty all
What a fantastic event!
Was great to see you both there (and at Silverstone). And cheers for the picture 👍🏻 Hope to see you both racing again soon. Great video too!
That was so good I'm kind of speechless.
Pink Floyd got it right: "Forward he cried, from the rear, as the front rank died".
I have a touch of that P thing myself.
Or When The Tigers Broke Free. My dad was in the Royal Fusiliers (which I didn't know). I was playing it one day about 20 years ago, and he said to mum (who told me) that he had never heard a song before that didn't glorify war. Dad very rarely spoke of it. Like many who experienced conflict.
Applause all around!
Excellent filming and editing and great story. And dropped just in time for ANZAC day in NZ which is our remembrance weekend. The new, non Binky content is excellent, please keep it up!
Big up to Ben for allowing his PTSD episode to be shown. I cannot begin to imagine what he went through and what it is he is re-experiencing.
But I will add that PTSD can be caused by any traumatic experience, it doesn't have to be combat related.
Many people suffer PTSD and the more understanding of it the better. I came for the bracketry, but what I have seen here is much more important.
Thank you so much for showing this.
Well done to all of you
Nice.
You're all welcome.
Fantastic.
Well done lads. Great cause
great event.... always a great video...
Fantastic episode! So well filmed and edited! :-) But Nick looked like me when I am suffering, man get some sleep! Respect for entering and supporting this.
I was going to go to this but I forgot 🤦🏻♂️ jokes aside we should never forget our heroes 🙏🏼 we are always in debt for the sacrifices they make
Well done all around fellas.
Nice one lads. Thank You.
Top notch on all levels!
Make the noise
Well done Rich and Nick. Ben, very nice job, well done all! I've have great fun with this series. Now let's get back to Binky and the carrier snail if you don't mind...Quite looking forward to rally footage with Binky! What say you?!
Came for the Binky, stayed for the great content like this video!
That safety car wrap is a thing of BEAUTY!!!
Loved it! If I can't have binky, or escargo by all that is holy, keep racing!
What a great race and for such a good reason 🙂 well done lads
Great video guys!!! I'm sure that was hard but a lot of fun.
All respect.
Great video. Well done!
Excellent! 👍🍻
That was a short 45 mins seemed like 25. Congrats on a fine effort and a great vid to all involved.
