  • Yeah...but, what if the guy is punching you?
    This is the comment I got a few times on my other mount escapes video (which you should check out if you haven't). And it was kind of odd to me, because each of the escapes were mostly useful for sport or self-defense. But I thought I would make a video to try to clarify any confusion to that point, and film it no-gi just in case that was an issue.
    In this video, I mention striking considerations and how to escape the bottom mount position, avoiding as much damage as possible. I also include a submission toward the end that occurs frequently if the last escape is performed well.
    I hope these help! If they do, please like, share and subscribe!
    Also, my Instagram was deleted this week for some really ridiculous reasons, so if you would, please follow me on there when you can: @knight_jiu_jitsu_
    And as always, if you like this and want more detailed instruction in a class format, catch me on Patreon.com/KnightJiuJitsu. I apprecaite all the support!

    This is probably the most practical mount escape that I've ever seen. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    Great stuff. I was hoping the answer to "what if he's punching you in the face?" was going to be "well you'll probably get punched a few times"

    if you have mounted someone and there submissive you dont need to do any more to them. i chased and caught a guy who while i was out running when i saw him snatch a girls bag. when i chased and quickly caught him i grabbed and sat on top of him. he immediately submitted and we chatted for long time while i sat on him. the girl came up got her bag back and was happy. as i always wear very long socks just over the knee ,the guy whom i caught said he liked my long socks. when after about 30 minutes of me sitting on him i let him go and weve become good mates and he is changing his life around.

    Thank you. I’ve been doing jiu jitsu but just trained with the mma team and found out first hand how different things get when punches are coming at your face on the ground. I’ll be drilling these escapes for sure.

    Hip-escape-to-arm-lock is one of those combinations that seems like black magic when someone pulls it off.
    Someone just went from mount to tap in 2 moves. Crazy.

    Great content....would love to see an extension of this topic when your opponent has already managed to get high mount, and you've lost some of the leverage in your arms with your elbows pinned high.

      Have you watched this one as well? Toward the end I address the high mount.

    Great escapes. I like to bump and trap and roll for self defense situations. I always thought shrimping out would leave your face open for strikes. It definitely could be unavoidable when working an escape though.

    Nice video but you left out an important situation: The mounted oponent manages to get over your chest and his knees under your arm pists so it is not possible to bridge or use knee to get him of you.

      @@KnightJiuJitsu Very nice, I tried that with a friend on the mat not to long ago. I could not catch his leg as you did, but it worked fine. Also I found out that by steping up along body you put your feet in the danger zone. My mounted friend bridged, landed on my foot and rolled. I got a sprained ankle fortunatly it was not so bad and within a week it was ok. Do you have any tips how to avoid this? ... thanks.

    Please do a review of the pros/cons of the Gracies Combatives curriculum of months of drilling before free rolling.

    I once got into a street fight (My brother got into a fight with his ex's new boyfriend)
    While my brother fought the guy he started the fight with. I ended up fighting a guy that was with him. a big fat who was taller than me.
    While I managed to get three punches in, he ended up tackling me the floor and mounting me. He started punch my face and I tried to get him off of me but he was too fucking heavy. He would have probably fuck up my face if my brother haven't kick him in the face to get him off of me.

    i like your explanation, but when you get full mounted at mma, your chances are slim. I would rather make a video “Avoiding full mounts”.

    Hello sir, one question: at min 6.00 couldn't you hit the back of his head?

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  5 лет назад +2

      Yes, but it isn't the best idea for me if I am on bottom to concentrate too much on hitting him. It is likely to have little effect and to allow too much space that he may be able to take advantage of. Better idea for me on bottom to just defend and escape and wait until I have the positional advantage before throwing strikes.

    5:58 dont you think that from that moment forward you would eat a lot of headbuts? if punches are in the mix why wouldn't headbuts be also?

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  6 лет назад +3

      Pedro Sancho - when you switch that side to complete the escape and wrap his neck, it keeps his head too tight to you for him to be able to headbutt you.

    I feel like when he shrimped he left his face open for a face bite. In street fights they don’t play fair. I had a chunk of hair pulled out of my head and this is how I know.
