Great details for blocking the crossface The first escape is the same as what Keenan Cornholius does except Keenan does a granby roll variation after grabbing his own leg.
One thing to consider when thinking about using BJJ on the ground in a real fight is that 9 times out of 10 it will be on a hard ground. Unlike at BJJ training centers where you have soft mats, and the BJJ practitioners are wearing a thick heavy gi. Which means in a real fight can you even do all of these BJJ moves on a real ground without injuring yourself? So with this in mind I try to practice from the bottom where as my body isn't rested on the ground, but elevated from it.
#3 I use on a regular basis. #1, 2 and 4 I have never seen before and look like magic. Thank you for your wonderful insight and teaching! I truly benefit and am grateful for your channel.
Someone did this knee pin to me decades ago and I felt shame because I was completely helpless. I couldn't move in any direction. Thank you for the escape scenario where the opponent is firmly established.
Just more Eli Knight Jiu-jitsu wizardry 😁. Spectacular techniques that are presented in a simple easy to understand manner. I love it! Thanks for posting. I appreciate it.
Another open mat tired from graveyard shift got smashed on as a white belt super lightweight, now im back to your channel to try to aquire how the f*&^ to deal with that knee on belly... jui jitsu for life with tears of all it's costing me just to get a little better... fortunate to have people like you who share online 🤙🏽🐉🙏🏽💪🏽
Love this and all your other videos. I had to look this one up particularly cuz I’ve noticed I get in trouble with KOB position esp with other blue belts and higher. Keep up the great work on these vids!
Dude seriously I've used like two KOB escapes my whole life and you just made it fucken rain with escapes! I'm absolutely doing this all month!! Thanks guys!
Aloha Eli, I've been doing that first escape and love it. I'm now finding I'm getting caught with the inside Sankaku when I do that escape. I've wised up now and just have about abandoned that escape when I know I'm rolling with leg lockers. Thanks for all the different options.
Nice vid man, thanks, definately going to try some of these on some smaller opponents first :p the bigger and more techy guys will continue to get the bump on the butt leg grab :)
Thank you 🙏 And yeah, I hit something like that a couple of times out of desperation before I decided to try to learn the details of what was actually there. I had a couple of really good guys help me figure out some more specifics.
Just finished my 4th week of practicing. I got hammered with knee on belly and couldn’t figure out what to do. I’m going to drill the _____ out of this so that next week I can try to address this “miserable position”. Thank you so much for all your videos. They’re the best!
I love these videos from Knight Jiu Jitsu! This guy is so creative and obviously a BJJ genius. I am always impressed! I wish I lived closer as I would definitely love to come train for a week or so. I think I looked it up a while ago and I think he is in Kentucky if I remember right. I'm in WV, but unfortunately all the way across the state.
Hey Coach thanks for this! It definitely helps me off-balance them BUT they just post and I can't complete the sweep. I tried this and he just posts, look at 1:53 your guy just keeps his right hand on your hip and doesn't post.
The big nose move really worked. I did it on a black belt that has been doing knee on belly on my for weeks. Then he strangled me after i flipped him over. Lol . But i did it. White belt.
Opening the elbow of the far-side arm gives the opponent an opportunity to under hook, switch side then armbar if the timing is incorrect or not doing it fast enough. The first 2 escapes are amazing, though.
I am also curious about the sweeps from turtle :D When I get into that position I usually just step over one of opponent's legs depends on which side he is, his leg gets a little trapped, then i turn and replace the guard, works quite well for me, but the problem comes when the opponent is right behind you or in front of you :D Hope this helps anyway. (I am a white belt :D)
Sensei Eli, hi how you doing. Today we did k ee on belly. Teacher just let us go through escaping. I dove under the the person kind of like shrimping with the foot closest to the ground. I secured the ankle of the person who had knee on belly and then with feet secured x guard on his lower part of leg. Is this a type of escape you’d teach. Or did I just fi d something luckily. Cause when my teacher saw it he stopped class and made everyone watch me d it. And then we explored ideas that could happen from this position. Like sweeping opponent to face down backwards, turned fit into single leg take down an more. I’m interested I. Your opinion of you understand what I did.
@@KnightJiuJitsu I’ll try and make one next week at Grappling class. There’s a lot to come of It. Sweep Them to their face. Sweep them backwards. Single leg take down. I’m sure once I make video of it. Your mind will think of lots of follow Ups to it.
On the 1st escape whats stopping him from posting with his right hand? Ive tried that one and idk if im messing up but the guy just posts and stops it.
i tried the first one and my oponent had his knee very tight with his hamstring, so much i couldnt pass my knee through to grab my leg. is there anything i can do about it or should i just do another one of these?
Professor- great stuff. Thank you. I have a question for your Uke in this video. 1) what size is that kimono? And if it’s an A2 or A3 how much can I buy it from him for? I used to have the same kimono years ago. I miss it. Serious inquiry here. I’m ready to go with PayPal. Let’s make a deal!
The last one works really well for that. Otherwise, you have to catch him as he is attempting to solidify the position. Timing is everything on all of them.
I tried the one where you grab your own leg to form a clamp on theirs. Unfortunately, my brown belt instructor saw it coming every time, scooped my arm from underneath, and came around 180 degrees into an armbar. Careful exposing that arm, people.
That shouldn’t be possible…I’ve had people counter it different ways and have worked on shutting those ways down, but there definitely shouldn’t be an arm bar opportunity from there.
@Knight Jiu-Jitsu Sorry, I should have been more specific. I attempted this the wrong way. I neglected to secure his far leg. So, when I extended my top arm to hook my top leg, he was able to scoop that arm up and do the spinning arm bar around to my other side. In no way am I implying that a properly executed version of the sweep would fail. To any readers, please note that I’m in the “still suck at this” phase of the journey.
No worries at all, and I didn’t mean to come across accusatory or insulting. There are definitely issues with that escape and ways to counter, but it still has a big return on investment, I believe. Lots of potential with it, but I’ve gotten myself into problems in the process of trying to polish it up. Thanks for the clarification and respectful discourse man!
@Knight Jiu-Jitsu Thank you for your many videos! I’m just looking to have fun, maybe get choked, and not bother explaining to my wife how those two things can possibly go together.
Great technique. I am so sick and tired of hearing professors talk about what's illegal and what's not illegal for tournaments. Point-based jujitsu is the worst version of Jiu-Jitsu. Thank you for the great technique

These are the best options I know. I didn’t put these up as the best options for smaller, weaker people, because you don’t really need much Jiu-Jitsu for that. Jiu-Jitsu is designed to use against someone bigger, stronger and more athletic. If you have better options that you think would work better against a larger, more athletic opponent.

Are we all here because we got knee on bellied today?
Hey Coach thanks for this! It definitely helps me off-balance them BUT they just post and I can't complete the sweep. I tried this and he just posts, look at 1:53 your guy just keeps his right hand on your hip and doesn't post.
He can attempt the post with that arm, but it isn't sufficient to stop the sweep. You can cut the angle if he posts and still complete the sweep.
@@KnightJiuJitsu Ahh that makes sense! Thank you!

Knee on belly / body triangle.
Worst place to be after eating a huge meal :(
I've tapped to it!
Dont eat before training. I got choke once, and I vomit.

Knee on Subway ;)

Dead serious about the kimono.
Haha! That is his pride and joy kimono. I’m not sure he would want to part with it but I can ask him. Pretty sure it is an A3
hell yeah! first one I ever owned in like 2000!
Knee on belly is so effective but I barley see people using it when I spar at practice
I only ever see mat bullies using it.
The first one becomes hard when he puts he`s arm put, the second one is better but was hard to get the knee in..
What to do if the top Guy keep changing the knee on belly left to right and vice versa??????
The last one works really well for that. Otherwise, you have to catch him as he is attempting to solidify the position. Timing is everything on all of them.
Tried escape 1 and the player on top shuts the sweep down by posting with the hand that was gripping your hip.
I got the bump part but my partner kept moving Im get him on wednesday thou
Why is your bar blue ?:)
I’m a black belt under Royce Gracie and he uses the blue bar instead of red for his people. It’s an homage to Helio Gracie.

Is the last one legal under IBJJF rules? Reaping or not?
It is IBJJF legal. There is no reap on the knee on this one. It is a straight knee bar and no lateral pressure, so it would be legal.
