Hi Lachlan. Love the clarity of your explanation and the calm, approachable persona. I am going to have to teach the wife to put knee on belly ( my belly specifically ) so I can get some reps on this. I am an old man and I honestly like being on bottom up until I get knee-on-bellied so I need to learn some tricks. Going from knee on belly to top is just the sort of things that I live for in jiu jitsu.

Hey Lachlan, nice escape, I'm definitely going to try and add it to my game - one potential problem I have with this videois with you pushing the top knee. I know that in the video, your arm is very tight when you demonstrate because you understand the farside armbar risk - but maybe you should address this in the video for guys newer to BJJ?

Exactly what I was thinking. When I get knee-on-belly the first thing I'm looking/hoping for is to get my opponent to push my knee off of him. Scoop that arm at the elbow and spin into arm bar. So, "caveat emptor!"

I needed this. There's a purple belt world beater i will occasionally roll with, he's like 185, I'm 240 and he and KOB me for like 4 out of 5 minutes. And that first minute he's probably just chilling waiting to see if I can even threaten him.

How do you prevent them from diving for the kimura when you push with your far arm?

    Isn't pushing the knee a basic no-no?

most people do it wrong. Notice how he's framing on the hip too and turning on his side. That lets him start reguarding with his legs but the second escape is much better imo and my go to technique in no gi

I just started using it the second tech this week. Hitting it on whites and blues, but getting stuck on purples. I think the missing detail (for me) is getting my hips underneath my partner. I'll report back after today's training. lol
