i love how he shows the intensity in which the moves might actually work. so many tutorials show the move too slow and with not enough resistance. I like the sharpness and explosiveness he always implements

Who else remembers that classic elbow push escape video from years ago!!? That was one of the first bjj videos that really helped me through my initial stages as a white belt getting trapped under people! I remember I hit that escape on a purple belt in a different country, and he smiled and said “ah, you’ve watched that Marcelo Garcia escape video” and we both had a chuckle.

Just started training again and having a ridiculous hard time to escape side control. It's so frustrating, when im on top, ppl just roll me around, bench me up, do whatever they want, it's like im a feather. When im on the bottom, its like a building is on top of me and i have no strength to create any space with any of the arms. Their arm pits are stronger than my fucking legs so i cant create hip space either. Its a boomer man

Bruno Soares Rodrigues I like to use a philosophy I call strong point philosophy. I’m like 140 lbs but when big guys pass my guard, this just means that you analyze and figure out what grips or limbs are the ones giving the opponent the strength to close distance or the base so they don’t get rolled over. A pyramid will always fall if at least two sides get knocked down, humans are like that in the sense we have four limbs. Just go for the points/grips of strength or points that allows them to keep a base and remove them using leverage, be creative and keep putting yourself in those bad positions. It might take some time to develop the sequence of moves but eventually you’ll start seeing them sooner and being more deceiving with them and should be able to get out of these positions. I’ve been able to do so now with guys near the 240lbs weight on me, it wasn’t always the case and more so if they move to different positions, but one day at a time brother. Hope this was of some help, good luck in your journey!

@@AV9000x LOL!!! I once rolled with a big blue belt who said he felt he could pin Marcelo Garcia forever in side control because he was strong and he never saw Marcelo play a lot of half guard from being in side control. The blue belt was admittedly big and strong, but only weightlifting strong, not grappling strong. It seems he could never develop the connection to use all that muscle towards grappling techniques. So I choked his bitch ass with my feeble 150lbs.

I think you should of explained the importance of transitioning your hand/forearm from his back to under his chin better than just saying "it needs to be strong infront of his face" - the guys head and body weight will be stronger than your forearm. One suggestion that my black belt coach taught me was to bridge towards the guy to create a small gap to transition your hands/forearm from the back to under his throat. Otherwise you run the risk of getting americana'd, especially if the guy is in a static position, quick and putting alot of pressure on you. However, good video nonetheless, the single leg is actually one of my favourite escapes.
