I've heard that all the touchscreens are the same head unit throughout the range, and it's just the software that differs, and GPS etc can be put on with a software upgrade.. any truth in this ?...

Hy, I recently bought peugeot 208 and have touch screen device like Yours. It has no navigation under the menus, but it sometimes popups "GPS fault" message. Is there any chance that the current software version can be updated to the version which supports navigation, or is this some silly peugeot "GPS fault" message :)?

From what I know, but I no longer have that car. Is, hardware will need to be updated at the dealer. For example the motherboard. But the firmware as you can see in the video does updates, without the dealer in fact the dealer does use the same software update. Just remember that if the USB stick is still plugged when the device restarts .it tries to start loading the firmware again.
I can't find where to download updates can you provide a link? (current software shows smeg3.15.B.R1 Date 100113. Also, have found that over time, reception of AM channels has degraded to virtually zero. DAB is patchy, and FM suffers more interference than in the past. Could that be result of old solftware?
I originally found the software on the 208 owners forum,. I had terrible reception in the 208 but I no longer have the car. So can not advise much more.

The software update I found with a Google search. The screen i found on ebay. Sorry to say I do not have the software or that car anymore. If you Search SMEG Peugeot software. I belive in the video there is a version number but that must be out of date by now. So I would also suggest Peugeot Forums. Hope that helps a bit. All the best.

Hi , I have a registration 2016 Peugeot 2008. I wondered if I can add the maps function to my console as it doesn't have a maps function. Also can I upgrade it to accept mirror link
The radio did have an issue with mute getting stuck on that update resolved that, but nothing to notice from a user point of view all grafics remain the same.
if there is no sat nav then it can not be updated by software. from what I have read the radio unit would need to be upgraded not just the software. I have never seen gps fault on my radio.

my head unit has no sat nav so can not advise on sat nav. the head unit will be different with sat nav.

You cannot upgrade smeg 3 to 5/6 unless you change the headunit itself and activate it

What did the update actually update, apart from the firmware number? Did anything change on the layout, functionality etc?

The SMEG ca not be upgraded to SMEG+. neither can a job GPS system upgrade to be a GPS. either would need a replacement head unit.
