In Brenda Lee's autobiography, published in 2002, on page 293, it lists "I'm Sorry" in bold letters as being a #1 hit in France in 1978. It was backed with "That's All You Gotta Do".

I'd forgotten seeing this great clip. She was introduced by one of the girls from a popular TV show at the time. As always, the performance was outstanding. Even though MCA dropped all their big names Brenda went on to star in a sensational Broadway type show for three years at Opryland. I hope if you are a big fan you didn't miss those. It was Brenda at her most versatile best. Don Hicks
+Don Hawkins The 20 year contract was ended early, shortly after the "L.A. Sessions" album in 1976. Brenda wanted out. She didn't like the album, her experience making it or the direction that MCA was taking her in her post Owen Bradley period. Two years later MCA re-signed her to a new deal and she went on to have more hits for them.
+Don Hawkins Exact date - The 20 year contract was signed on June 27, 1963 (Source: Billboard magazine). Manager Dub Albritten hyped it as a Million dollar deal although it was less than that, averaging about 40,000 a year. Dub also took a 20% cut of BL's income. This was above the usual agent fee (15%).
Mini-fact: "I'm Sorry"/"That's All You Gotta Do" was released in France in 1978 and went to #1! One of many odd things that have happened over Brenda's now 60 years of performing.
Don Hicks What is your source? The single was released in Europe on the Brunswick label in 1960 (cat # 05833). They did release some greatest hits/retrospective albums about that time that charted in the UK and Europe. Perhaps someone is mixing up the albums with singles. I don't think any of them were #1 in France.
I like I'm sorry song . This song makes me listen every day because it's so good! i'm 13 🤗
Thank you. Brenda has been singing the song since 1960! Some years ago, she said "I'm Sorry" has sold over 15 million copies.

+Mostly Brenda Always good the hear about Brenda! love her!
+Don Hawkins 40k doesn't sound like a lot today, but, adjusted for inflation, would be over 300K in today's dollars.
we were cheering for Brenda---she is a home girl! became famous around the world..opened doors for others & down to earth!
There was a girl in the audience that looked just like Mindi Conn!
Correct! There are several others that you may be able to recognize.
