    As an architect and growing up working in construction in the past, I do hope you allowed for at least 1/2 inch slope into the sump pit from all external forms. Failing to allow for a slope will allow water to pool in the wrong area of an underground room should the joint between the walls and slab should fail.

    Diesel fuel will work as a release on the forms also. For folks who have never done concrete work, it is not an easy job at all.

    Guys, it is generally accepted that concrete take 28 days to fully cure. Perhaps, on your next concrete pour you specify a concrete anti freeze in the mixer. Same applies to mortar as you build up the walls....Regards Robin....

    Thanks a lot for using the correct term concrete truck and not cement truck. Most people seem not to be aware that cement is only one ingredient of the concrete recipe. I even heard a man say cement slab and cement curing. But I simply can't remember who it was. 😁 ;-) 😜😝👅😇😘 2) Happy new year 🎉

    One of my brothers did footings and foundations, and they always had a can of old motor oil to paint the wood with to prevent the concrete from sticking to the wood. You can easily understand why that's so helpful, I'm sure.

    • @Chr.U.Cas1622
      @Chr.U.Cas1622 9 месяцев назад

      😱 What???You cant be serious to give a heart to this comment. Because only people who still want/like to pollute the environment and the concrete use old, used engine oil as a separation layer! You also don't use Diesel or kerosene. So please be a good role model for your kids and all the viewers and either use a special separation oil for concrete construction work or simply boiled linseed oil. This makes your life respectively taking out/off the formwork much easier. It becomes also easier after the wood has lost some of the moisture and it has shrunk back to it's former size again. And yes, amongst other things (for instance being an inventor), I am respectively was a construction specialist in Germany.
      Best regards, luck, health and wisdom.

    • @Subgunman
      @Subgunman 9 месяцев назад

      @@Chr.U.Cas1622this was a common practice to oil forms with old motor oil up until the early 2000's. Some people have resorted to using crisco or lard to oil the forms for small projects which are less likely to pollute the environment. You have to heat the stuff in a pot and apply it quickly with a coarse brush used for painting on cement based sealants.

    • @Chr.U.Cas1622
      @Chr.U.Cas1622 9 месяцев назад

      Dear @@Subgunman
      😱 What you write in public was/is maybe common where you live (see the comment from the man who still recommends to do this in 2023!)! 🙈 But it was/is definitely not common in countries respectively by people who care for the environment. I'm in the construction and engineering business since 1979 in Europe/Germany. Fortunately I've never heard of this kind of messing around with used black motor oil what you describe as common practice. I'm really shocked because this stuff is simply poisonous and bad for the concrete too. Unfortunately way too many people all over the world still give a 💩 about the environment/nature (although living in and from it)!
      Best regards, luck, health and wisdom.

    • @dionh70
      @dionh70 9 месяцев назад

      @@Chr.U.Cas1622 Since you've said that you lived/worked in Germany, I'm going to attribute the tone of your reply to a language barrier instead of outright discourtesy. I did not suggest that they use old motor oil, but I can see how it may have seemed that I did. I was simply relating an anecdote about how I'd seen things done in the past. Given Jacob's experience in construction, I'm quite sure he's aware of a number of options, and in fact, some other comments on the video suggested that he use non-toxic oils/greases. Furthermore, the channel owners typically "heart" most or all comments as a way of showing appreciation for the viewers.

    • @Chr.U.Cas1622
      @Chr.U.Cas1622 9 месяцев назад

      Dear @@dionh70
      😂😂😂 Between us might be a huge mind barrier but certainly only a slight language barrier if any. Just look at your highly aggressive guggl imagine photo. 2) Please kindly allow me to suggest that you try to read your own first comment as a stranger = objective. If you are able to do so, you will see, that it is written like a suggestion how to separate formwork wood from concrete. Absolutely no suggestion in it how it could be done better respectively how it should be done! Way too many people are simply not aware of what they write/suggest or show in public. Even more are not aware that it's dangerous for mankind to harm nature respectively the environment. Simply because it strikes back sooner or later. 3) If a channel owner gives hearts to comments like if he is watering a lawn, the given heart is meaningless = wasted. Usually a heart is a thank you respectively showing respect for a viewers comment/answer. Much more than a thumbs up. If hearts are spread only to gain viewers respectively their attention, they are simply meaningless.
      Best regards, luck, health and wisdom.
