I started out my email adventure by deleting entire folders. I had tons of them that were very specific ie: 5th grade, soccer, "specific event" 2002, etc. There were even folders with argument emails between myself and my ex and myself and my family. They all went without even opening them and it was good to let go of the past. Next I sorted my in box by sender. Deleted a TON that way. Now I unsubscribe as newsletters come in. If I order something, the resulting emails to go my "Expecting Delivery" folder and are deleted when they arrive. I am not down to manageable amount get but I work on it when I feel like it. My new system is in play every day so it shouldn't get so bad again. Great tips!

... I have NEVER had an inbox with 0 in it. Never.
Now I have an inbox with 0.
I have like 20k messages in an Action folder, but I have 0 in my inbox.
You are a miracle worker, thank you so much!

Brilliant. I have been running away from my inbox for months now. But people keep asking why I haven't answered the messages they send, and "I don't really do well with email" puts a very confused look on their faces.

You are now officially a shero. I have muddled my way through computer literacy since forever and have no idea how to set things up in a better way. Until now! You explain things so well. 💖🙋

Definitely took me more than five minutes, but both my work and personal email inboxes are cleared out for the first time in years! This is so satisfying and makes me feel like I'm successfully adulting. Thank you so much!

Loved this, this is definitely an area I need to get on top of, my inbox has far too many emails and recently I’ve been unsubscribing from those that I realised I just didn’t even look at anymore. Thanks for the ideas, will need to implement them 😃

I have folders for each child- info they need for school, ACT results, medical test results, etc. I just now had Gmail nest them all under the label “Children”. The left hand bar of my Gmail looks much better! I wish I had the option to get rid of folders Gmail comes loaded with automatically, like Snoozed, Chats, and Scheduled which I never use.
Thank you for the easy-on-the-eyes video today! I don’t know if it was deliberate, but it was a visual delight for me!

YAY! And yup, those folders are annoying, aren't they? At least you can hide them from view.

    • @margaretjohnson6633
      @margaretjohnson6633 3 года назад +1

I just hid those today, I didn't realise how you did that, but if you got into your settings you can hide the ones you don't want to see. I then Number the other other main folders as Laura has chosen in the video so they appear in the order I want. This

Great. But if you do the Unsubscribe thing, its also taking a couple of emails I want to keep. Can you tell me again how I keep those ones, because under the Settings its not listing this email in the filter.Do you have to go to the TRASH folder and do it from there? You could end up missing the important ones.

i have my very first email i created, a hotmail, that i use for everything, since 1998. that's 25 years.
as media increases in quality and size, microsoft is only giving 5GB + 10GB bonus i got and i am reaching 15GB limit fast in last 3 years that I actually had to bother to find out ways to deal with size and no. of emails.
I rarely organize my emails. i got a few folders. and i just rely on search, i can find anything.
The problem is that, I now got 131K emails total, 113K unread. i really felt like deleting all of them sometimes. since i got so many junk, though microsoft auto filtered most of them.
I was just thinking about the equivalent of the magic hat solution : leave the past behind, start afresh now, save the time to organize the 131K emails, which isn't important obviously, as i can use search to find anything. start organizing now onwards.
but i am also a procrastinator and perfectionist, so i will start tomorrow lol, and if i can't completely complete everything, i won't start at all lol.
    anyways, magic hat

Are you using Gmail, Glenda? If so, click the little checkbox that you see on the top left of the selected emails. That will select them all for you. Then click the little trash can icon to the right of it. =)
