    Pretty special to have someone keep you company while making a project like this. My wife comes around the corner in my small wood shop with her hands on her hips usually, haha. Epic build and thank you! Did you find the benches were stable? Would you prefer a slightly wider base?

    quick questions for anyone who can answer. I was taught when gluing up boards to have the end grains running opposite of each other (minute 3:03 has them all running downwards). As having one upwards and other going downwards, that way when lumber shrinks or expands it has to fight against the other making it not move as much and keeping it as straight as possible. I am an apprentice carpenter so just curious that's all. Amazing work btw!!!!

    • @stoiawooddesign
      @stoiawooddesign  3 года назад

      @@jocelyngarza5490 I’m sorry to hear that. All wood will naturally expand and contract with the seasons but oak and walnut should be more stable. There is a chance your wood could expand once the temperatures warm up. However if the wood had a lot of moisture to begin with it might not go back to its initial size.

    What happens if you use treated? Everything I’m seeing says treated lumber

    • @stoiawooddesign
      @stoiawooddesign  4 года назад

      I’ve personally have never seen pressure treated lumber used on interior tables. I can’t speak to if the chemicals inside the lumber are food safe, but I would also think stain and finish are going to take/look differently on pressure treated vs non.

    • @stoiawooddesign
      @stoiawooddesign  4 года назад

      @@MixingGBP A breadboard can definitely help ensure cupping does not happen over time. However, using pocket holes to secure the breadboard would not be my recommendation. Using pocket holes and glue is a nice DIY option, but I have seen breadboards sag over time when using this method. If you could use the Festool Dominio instead that would be a viable option.
