The fact that Jean actually did die again between recording and airing isn't just hilarious, it's also great accidental foreshadowing.
I got stares at the bus at that part when I laughed lol
It took me out😂😂😂😂
I mean powerful characters like her that are able to come back, die all the time. It's not surprising tbh, she's just supposed to be that tough guy that dies so that everyone freaks out and loses hope like, "If she was killed, what chance do we have?"
@@Tony73727You would think that after dying 16 times, those around her would think she isn't that tough after all, and maybe just a glass cannon.
@@Cervando Considering how often she comes back, it’s less she’s not that tough and more like she takes “life breaks”.
The fact that a Death Battle between Jean Grey and Raven is sponsored by BetterHelp, a mental health platform is too ironic.
Thankfully these two have people who would risk their lives to fight off their dark side to protect the universe.
Good on them.
If it was jean grey and wanda it would be more ironic

Ok, Phoenix being decimated to just a flickering spark and Raven blowing it out was kind of chilling

The music was absolutely on point. Matched the tone and rhythms of the most noteworthy eras of both characters, with nods to both individual themes, while still sounding cohesive and modern. Truly a great composition.
I think they’ve absolutely outdone themselves with this soundtrack
I love it when a match can be between beings of similar power levels with common themes and struggles, and still one can simply sum it up as something like “shadow bird fights flame bird let’s goooooo!”
Raven is nowhere near the power levels of the Phoenix.
@@getitboy83Me, Death Battle and I believe a majority of the other comments disagree.
@@usshared1649 I think you should revisit the comments because the evidence supports the contrary.
@@usshared1649 The version of Raven here is composite (I think) and the character overall is very inconsistent from what I've heard. Phoenix is considered one of the strongest beings in Marvel!
Jean was willing to die for the people she cared for. Raven learned to be willing to live for them.
That is poetically poignant.
Huh, I never thought of it that way. Nice observation

Beautiful
20:19 “Will the the Phoenix rise again, returning from that far shore? Quoth the Raven: Nevermore”

Indeed. Arguably Boomstick’s best closing one-liner
Probably because Edgar Allan Poe wrote it
@@evanholty2909
It’s based on The Raven but that line isn’t in the poem.
Works even more because Phoenix’s White Hot Room is located beyond the Marvel cosmological area “The Far Shore”
It sounds like a poem maybe
I normally will roll my eyes at Boomstick's puns at the end, maybe a snort or a chuckle if it's somewhat good, but the bit of poetry at the end with the Poe reference was actually pretty badass here.
The Music was phenomenal thank you for the attention to details DB!!!
18:13 Okay, Raven simply blowing the last little ember of Phoenix was pretty badass.
Except, Phoenix can't die. The whole Omiverse is connected to her and one time, Galactus tried do erase A SINGLE fragmet of Phoenix and ALL of the universe started dying as a result. He gave up destroying her so reality could survive. The funny thing is, Phoenix didn't even tried to resist because she knew the consequences and knew Galactus would back down.
Again, all of that was just a tiny fragment of the Phoenix Force. Can you imagine the kind of damage killing the entirety of Phoenix could do?

To the people saying Phoenix can restore souls, it doesn''t matter. Raven diedn't destroy Jean's soul, she absorbed it. And you can't restore a soul that still exists, that's soul cloning, which the phoenix has never been shown capable of.

I agree definitely
My kid cousins refrigerator art of the Phoenix Force did more justice than the movies … and he’s 12
They missed a good chunk of demonstrated feats of the Phoenix Force. I mean yeah better than the movies, but that's a really low bar.
It did not cause Raven definitely does not scale to Phoenix in no capacity and they miss huge chunks of Phoenix powers.

☯☯☯ YIN AND YANG ☯☯☯
And called it.
Called it
Yin and Yang? I thought for sure that the Cipher symbol was the question mark, to represent the confusion over the complete lack of any research you actually did on Phoenix because you were too busy chain-scale wanking Raven to infinite multiversal and pretending that Phoenix doesn't have the same ability as the Ultimate Nullifier, since she's destroyed cosmic beings who represent eternal abstract concepts, and beaten them. And then you also invented that she was weak to soul hax (She's not.)
In Phoenix : endsong Jean said she and Phoenix are one, so i think that Raven could not take or erase Jean Grey soul cause Phoenix is a entity and actually they are one, in the last official Phoenix movie a Blonde woman tried to do take Phoenix soul but Jean was in Control and didnt let It happen, another fact is that Marvel and DC or something like that Said that Raven is equal in Power in their own worlds( Marvel and DC worlds ) with Jean Grey or Phoenix i Heard this somewhere i think you can found the font of that info too, so we can say with total certaintity that Jean lose or Raven lose, Is all about the script and writer decision lol Sorry i tried to talk correctly but my english is not fluent, i am from south america.

Bingchilling
TFS Nappa: "I get it!"
Yknow considering how Archie sonic vs flash went I expected raven to lose
yeah blew me away with how good it was
Jean telling raven that she’s too dangerous to live is hypocritical considering how it’s Jean with Phoenix that can’t control her powers and causes more harm to the innocent while raven keeps her powers in check
hence the result.
point!!!
Yeah. And it’s REALLY out of character for Jean too. Though maybe not on her worse days.
Gotta love how they inaccurately portray a character they made fun throughout her character description. The writing was on the wall before the battle even began. All bias aside, Phoenix clears
@@khans9529 phoenix gets slapped

14:13 That really helped explain things a lot in the Teen Titan Go "Staring at the Future" episode.
As Boomstick points out, the existence of characters like this makes it all the more hilarious that they team up with people like Robin or Angel.
There's an old comedy skit called "Angel Summoner & The BMX Bandit" that kinda covers that trope. One can call forth the divine host at will to do his bidding, the other is really good at trick-riding a BMX bike. Together, they fight crime.

It's downplayed in the shows and movies she's in, but yeah Raven is batshit insane on the power scaling lol
remember Superman's "This world is like cardboard to me. I have to always hold back. If I lose control even for a moment, someone could die." ?
that speech is also easily... Raven's .
Yes you missed a fee things on Phoenix like how it can pull souls from future. And took down beyonder which from feats more powerful than trigon. Feel like missing some info here
Good job on the soundtrack
In my opinion, I think this is a Fantastic way to represent two characters that are Literally the souls of Light and Darkness. And that Darkness does not always mean Evil.
But the light will always win

5:00 This is honestly one of the funniest bits thats come about from Death Battle in a hot second. The phoenix's analysis in general just had me dead ☠️
Y'know, if comic books could bother to keep their dead characters, well, _DEAD_ then that might just improve their writing a teensy-bit.

"i think they could have talked this out"
@@mrreyes5004 but then the stakes are boring because nobody famous would ever die
@@mrreyes5004 it is a weird sorta ground for creators to try and approach cause while on one end it would make sense in the terms of the original story, these are characters that people really do want to see more of (and ya can't really have that if they hit an early grave). But on the other side of that argument, there are spinoffs or I guess in terms "what if" type of stories for that reason and in many cases, there have been characters who either just can't die or just too stubborn too die (I mean, the next match up is literally just too angry to die), can actually be worked into good writing, all be it gets super repetitive and unoriginal now a days. But I do see a point even if I'm not fully on a side of completely killing off a character.
Nice one guys :) I loved it. Very sweet end of intros for both.
In one of the sources Raven's name, given to her by Trigon was Pride. And for me it always made a weired amount of sense - while all other Deadly Sins that serve Trigon exist in multitude, Raven (or rather Raven's soul) is a sole existing Demon of Pride. So while pride exist in any form, Raven can not be trully killed.

Great video man and phoenix and raven fighting in this video is so amazing :]
What about Spawn VS Raven? Might be just as fun to see. Think on the level that both of them killed gods or at least contended with such with ease. I think it might still be Raven as the winner though, due to her soul never dying...Anyone for that idea? Spawn VS Raven?????
how about doctor fate versus darkseid

In all seriousness this was definitely a battle of sun and moon, blazing light and casting shadow, almost Yin and Yang. I'm glad that they actually showed off Ravens full potential.
I thought that it supposed to be the Phoenix not Jean as the host of the Phoenix against Raven 😂😂😂😂😂😂

This is an unserious battle. A woman who's the daughter of a demon against a woman who's the host of a cosmic entity.
It seems your judging this base on backstories
When they're both functionally immortal but only one has the ability to destroy the soul of the other, it wasn't hard to figure out how this was going to end.
At least in this one it's a canon power. Dante vs Bayonetta was stupid (he supposedly can't lose because he's just incapable of death, although the creator of both characters suggested otherwise) and Tifa vs Yang was poorly based (I love RWBY and would otherwise be happy for Yang to win, but Aura doesn't have ridiculous levels of durability. Remember the part where she literally lost her arm to a (yes, powered-up) sword slice? Punching a pillar with a person sandwiched between still does most of the force to the PILLAR, her Aura largely just prevented her being fully crushed by what forces were actually on her.).
@@JarieSuicune these clowns get their info from google search and are really biased based on the fanbase. these vids should only be taken as a entertainment.
Phoenix Force actually can destroy the soul. Dunno how Death Battle missed one of the most basic things, but Phoenix Force consumes souls. It actually learned how to manipulate souls too in the wake of Rachael Grey, it now borrows souls from the future to resurrect people. And with Phoenix Force absorbing part of The Beyonder and it's powers, it's a multiversal entity.
Raven would have to purge the entirety of existence of it's souls in order to snuff out the Phoenix Force canonically, assuming the Phoenix Force didn't do it back to her in the interim.
