So what I’m hearing is that Multiverse of Madness didn’t exaggerate Wanda’s powers, but actually kind of toned them down
Basically, the entire MCU tones down the powers of its characters. It's not always a bad thing, but you shouldn't be surprised when you hear surprising things about the comic versions.
Every super hero in the mcus power is toned down especially thor and hulk
MCU is super trash in terms of power scale compared to comics, heck some of the mcu characters's prime are weaker than their comic counterparts's base form.
@@micr9n992 I think that it's the opposite. The MCU is better at power scaling. In the comics sometimes you see Thor surviving a supernova without any scratch and others getting knockout by a falling building. At least in the movies you know how strong someone is compared to someone else and the movies more or less keep in line with that.

And then Zatanna would remind her that she's not only a witch, she's a *magician* and wouldn't you know it, she'd been carrying a pistol for her bullet catch trick later that evening.
I already pointed out how Wanda would not limit herself by saying no more sound. Instead she would take advantage of the situation and Say no more magic. The issue is that we have to look at the rules of Magic as set forth in both Universes. Under the rules of Magic in Marvel (how they always potrayed magic) Wandas powers are not actually magic in nature. She learned magic to help hone and enhance her natural abilities but they are not technically magic. This is why she not only was given a false positive on the X-gene but also registered as an OMEGA level mutant. Even false the only other being powerful enough to register under that level falsely is the Pheonix Force. So like in my comments on this Wanda wins because at the end of the day she really is far more powerful. Zantana requires artifacts to casst her spells without verbalization (same as all creatures in DC do.) So looking at the rules of magic in both universes Wanda technically won.
I feel like the biggest difference is that Wanda's power is still limited by a magical force/energy even if it is cosmic while Zatanna is purely limited by her imagination.

Actually, wanda's power isn't limited by anything, and zatanna is a magic user so her imagination isn't the thing that makes what she whats to happen, happen
The imagination argument applies to Wanda also. I don't know why Zatanna stans worship this argument and think that it is inapplicable to Wanda

Random Zatanna Facts (because I love her):
It is never usually her entire sentence backwards, it's just the individual words (ie: levitate me = etativel em, not em etativel) if the entire sentence is backwards, that means she's putting just a tiny bit more effort into beating your a$s.
It has been stated multiple time that Zatanna is not using her full potential, even during her greatest feats.
Due to the fact her father had magic, not all of Zatanna's magic comes from her mother, it's just enhanced in comparison to her father's. (might be wrong there, some origins state her father's magic isn't natural like Z's)

I didn't agree at first, but Zatanna just has so much more experience with actually CONTROLLING her power at the high end of things. Pretty much all of Wanda's big feats are when she's literally at her breaking point and she can't just harness that all the time.

Now this is what I call a death battle! It felt like it was so close of a battle, I didn't know who could win or how.
Wanda maybe more powerful but her temper always makes her reckless. Zatanna has critical thinking like no other which makes her defeat her opponents by outsmarting them.
The temper is what makes her unbeatable, you really think "no more witches" would work on a high nexus omnipotent being?
Chaos magic is the first primidal force which created the 1st cosmos she slams Zatanna negative difficulty. Zatanna doesn’t possess such power. Zatanna can’t warp her out of existence when Wanda can manipulate all timelines and universes it’s not even a debate. That’s like saying zatanna can beat the immortal dark phoenix

Zatanna never goes insane/loses control the way Wanda does. When it comes to magic and sorcery, its always about who is the most disciplined - not just raw magical talent alone. And yes, Zatanna is excellent at sleight of hand and non magical based illusions, in addition to her actual magical powers.

@@code066funkinbird3 Mages are often scholars with powers that require mastering it. A short temper could likely throw you off or cloud your mind, impeding your overall performance.
An angry Fire Mage, for example, is obviously dangerous, especially with their passion fueling their powers. But a disciplined Fire Mage won't only be able to control their emotion, they can think up various effective ways such as fire bolts for single targets, flamethrowers for crowds and buildings, etc.

Zatanna was usually underrated and often still is. Her only limitation is her imagination and that's amazing.
It would've been funny if Wanda had used her "What mouth?" trick, only for Zatanna to snap/wave her fingers and say "This mouth".
She can't even do that. The lady time her mouth was removed she needed to cut it open with a knife and it took time. Scalret witch would kill her if at that point.
I mean zatanna powers are limited on her imaginations so probably saying a backwards magic words wasn't always her ability but on her thoughts as well
The backwards words thing was never a requirement. It was a concentration exercise her dad taught her.
The worst thing DC could ever do is not introducing Zatanna in the main DCEU (movies and tv shows) when we already know what she is capable of. Everyone loves Batman and Suerman, but it would be amazing to see others characters besides them in special because there is a lot of characters with potencial
Dude I love them, but I was introduced to other characters through animation and i was even hoping to see some in live action.
Thank God Atom, Dr Fate, Cyclops and Hawk Man are gonna be in The Atom movie. Really hope the movie is amazing and the characters are awsome and accurately portrayed and written

I hope they really do a movie/tv show but don’t nerf her (of course they will use the mnemonic incantation as her weakness in the beginning, but I hope that changes along the way).

I think my favorite distinction between Wanda and zatanna is that they both have access to infinite power but only zatanna is actively trying to make peoples lives better with it.

Zatanna is my favorite DC babe, but she also is powerful AF. Its wild how unknown she is as a character to people that are not comic fans, and even then I have known people that really don't know who she is that are. They think she is just some trickster. For scale, when I am describing her to people that don't know her but know Wanda I usually say "if you understand why Wanda is so powerful then you would get why Z is as well. But even more so, she really has no limit other than her imagination."

This was by far one of the best death battles I ever seen. The Superman card punch alone, was worth it - even if Zatana would have lost. That was hilarious. The whole battle was very fun to watch and worth the build-up. Well done!

A surprising case of Skill vs Power
Wanda very much had the potential power to blink Zantana out of existence if she had the chance, but Zantana's skill was sufficiently high enough to use her (comparatively) weaker power to bring Wanda's power down to the point she could take her out.
Zatanna isn't that weak. Only person in DC to use instant death magic ever. A bit stronger than Wanda on that front..
I love Wanda but zatanna takes the win

The fact that Bruce learned all of his escape artistry from a modern day Houdini with the real magic, and they use this opportunity to introduce Zatanna to heighten the concept and the abilities tied to ou. It’s dope.
To think that Wanda could be beaten by some old-fashioned stage magic. Zatana is so classy.

well animated, lot of fun shenanigans going on, and was fun to see the different personalities / fighting styles of the characters come out during it. I know of both, but haven't really read Zatanna's comics, but it was fun just seeing her play the magician role throughout the fight

While it is true in my opinion that Wanda is one of the most powerful magic users I've seen, the biggest weakness was indeed her mental state. It doesn't matter how strong you are, if you start to lose yourself like she did, you become erratic and careless, which is how Zatanna was able to deliver the final blow. It's almost unreal the amount of power that Zatanna possesses!
The overplayed that mental card Wanda is damn near invincible when she wants to kill
very easy to beat Wanda who is very slow, and easy to get a headache, because of a severe mental disorder. with her unique spell upside down.

Zatanna is one of those characters who has the same potential as wanda or even more but never gets shown truly unless you read comics. Zatanna is basically she can do whatever she wants and she will do it with a smile while putting on a show. Just like when she was in a fist fight she used her magic so she would have the same capability as black canary fighting. Canary is an amazing fighter even batman himself has said. If DC put in the same effort as marvel then characters like zee wouldn't be forgotten and underestimated because she isn't shown much or shown what she can truly do.

There is actually a lot of similarities both are Kind hearted protagonist with the power to channel their special abilities thanks to the art of breathing which are weaknesses for Demons/Vampires creatures weak of Sunlight,both have siblings who turned into the creatures they slay and the villains are somehow related to the main protagonist

I love how they listed "Somehow puts up with Constantine" among Zatanna's greatest feats.
One that may be able to be physically overpowered, but the fact that she can survive world breaking attacks just shows she probably has more potential in that department as well. Combined that with her chaos magic, and just an affinity for the round in which all magic comes from in general, she’s literally a self made goddess.
That “presentation” line was easily my most memorable takeaway from this fight.

Fun fact: the original Justice League vs. Avengers crossover event established that Wanda's power actually increases if she is in the DC universe, because the DCverse has much stronger and more accessible levels of Chaos Magic. Of course, this WAS before Wanda's baseline power levels crept upwards in Marvel as a whole in the 2000s...

Even if they were to use this, Death Battle uses a neutral battle field that doesn't favor one opponent over the other so the fights are fair.
For the most part. I'm thanos vs dark side, most of the fight is CLEARLY in the 616 universe, though tbf, dark side is just powerful enough that it wouldn't matter.

Alright after a while and doing more research on both characters I kinda have changed my mind. It’s way closer than it was before but Zatanna still wins and even though Wanda may not have mental instability anymore she’s still not as experienced. Granted she still has decent experience just not quite as much as Zatanna.

What makes this a win for her is that, unlike Scarlet Witch, Zatanna has no obvious weakness to exploit and she's just far more experienced at battling foes as powerful as her. Wanda lost to Strange multiple times despite being much stronger than him. Zatanna is as strong as her. Wanda would get owned.
And preventing Wanda from reviving is hardly a problem for someone like Zatanna.
I like how this was probably the closest fight and also the most big in scale and the overall result coming down to the fact that Zatanna’s magic that she had from the get go has no drawbacks at manipulating the omniverse, while Wanda, no matter how stable she was was going to go crazy the moment she uses the life force to augment her Chaos Magic to match Zatanna (and yes, the life force and Chaos Magic are two different things. It’s only through accessing it that Wanda gets as strong as she was in house of M. And no, her recently absorbing Cthon doesn’t help her because using life force augmentation is going to forcibly drive Wanda nutty regardless of her stability improving or not, it’s been stated officially (it’s like the sorcerer equivalent of spiking someone’s food with psychoactive hallucinogens). Zatanna even now doesn’t have such drawbacks.)
No, I do think the concept of Wanda needing to maintain her mental stability. Using the amount of power she wheels I do admit that it could be exploited as a weakness, especially when zatanna’s bad ass has fight, multiversity threats, while still keeping her will power and wits about her. I need to read some zattana and Scarlet comics

Originally I was rooting for Zatanna but thought this was easily a win for Scarlet Witch. But when I saw that Zatanna broke through comics (which is essentially the most OP thing any comic character can do), then recreated the multiverse with Swamp Thing, I knew this would be a very interesting battle.

I think it's interesting that their mental state affects them in pretty much opposite ways:
For Zatanna, losing confidence directly impacts the scope of her powers. The less sure she is about winning, the lower her chances.
Wanda on the other hand only ever dares to tap into her larger supply of powers when she's desperate. The more her mental state deteriorates, the more risks she's willing to take with her potentially volatile abilities.
If the fight had dragged on, the scales may have tipped in the Scarlet Witch's favor - but she has to overcome a huge hurdle to get there...
So seeing therapist would put Wanda around Franklin Richards or True Darkseid level.
I just find the power scaling in DC so meaningless and inconsistent. Like the writers didn’t care so long as it looked and sounded impressive.

I'm so happy with the outcome, Zatanna is one of my favorite heroes. But another thing that works in her favor is that most magic wielding folk in DC are also accomplished con artists (Constantine being the most accomplished) since it's more akin to an actual community than Marvel's magic based characters and they regularly come in contact with higher beings they need to outsmart.
The juggling bit was adorable and absolutely zatanna.

I like how you show Wanda yeeting an 18 wheeler at Thor, but she then turns right around and admits she can't defeat Thor, even with Havok's help lol. She even tapped into that chaos magic right after Thor told her he knew all about her powers and how they worked, she tried to cast a hex on his throat shredding it and his insides, but it didn't work lol. Also, Wanda and Hope didn't erase the Phoenix. What was more impressive was Hope being able to resist the Phoenix and use its power to restore everything it destroyed. Hope used the power of the Phoenix and Wanda for them to be able to "erase" the Phoenix as Hope had the Phoenix when they said "no more Phoenix" so that can't really fall to Scarlet Witch considering they used the Phoenix to beat the Phoenix.
That no more sound no more mutants reference was just superb and then I started thinking about hesitant I can think her spouse
