Possibly the best slide of my life in this introduction 😂 Let me know you’re thoughts in the comments people. Are you a GPS or Laser Rangefinder golfer??
@coachlockey I have the ShotScope H4. In your honest opinion, would you go with the X5 or just keep the H4 until years later when something newer comes out. Seeing as they have the same features minus step counter, dogleg and new Gen tags
Just ordered mine - agree that the strap upgrade looks really good as my V3 comes undone quite a bit when I’m using my small carry bag. Taken to wearing it on my right wrist to combat this, so happy about this feature on X5. Also like the fact that you can correct the score on the watch and that they are offering the free whole hole view upgrade. As a V3 user I was very pleased to be offered a discount for the upgrade - makes me feel like a valued customer. Always enjoy your content and reviews - thanks 🙏🏻
Word for word agree! The V3 was good, but this just looks great. I was debating going down the rangefinder route but I just couldn't. Always think people look like Captain Jack Sparrow with his telescope trying to lock the pin for an accurate yardage
Thanks coach. I ordered mine a couple of days ago and as a previous Shot Scope user, I got a £100 discount! Unbelievable price for what this watch offers 👍
Ive used the G3 gor gps only. Loved the accuracy but wasn’t patient enough to put up with the gps/tracking. Too much time distracted in the course & time in revisions at the computer afterwards. Just did an initial 7 quick holes with x5 an really like the improvements & potential. As i grt more proficient I may even start using gps/tracking as well! So far I LOVE it!
I was a previous V2 and V3 user. I changed last year to a Garmin S62. In my opinion the Garmin is a far superior product overall. When it comes down to it, I only want to have one watch for on and off course. The X5 is trying to address some of those issues, but it's still not a full smart watch and in the modern world, that feels like a bit of a miss on their part. I'll admit the stats available for free with Garmin are nowhere near what ShotScope offers for free, but at the moment that's secondary to convenience for me. The Garmin does have a slope option as well, so Coach saying GPS watches don't come with them isn't correct. Also the battery life on the Garmin is exceptional. Here the X5 is offering "up to 2 rounds of golf"...with respect, "up to...." means absolute maximum under optimal conditions. I'll get at least 3 rounds from a fully charged Garmin, plus at least another day, often 2 of general usage before it needs charging. The changes to the strap and tags is a massive plus, but until ShotScope come to the table with the full smart watch plus all the golf features, I'll be sticking to the Garmin.
I bought a generic Garmin sports watch as I generally speaking only use the distance function. I do also have a rangefinder to shoot the flag if I don't see the green. In Finland, it's pretty common for the courses to have a map of the hole at the tee box, so I'll refer those for hazard reachable from the box. Not that it helps too much... :D
Ordered mine on Thursday, can't wait to test it out. If was able to receive phone notifications then I'd swap my Garmin watch for this one all the time, looks so much nicer.
got it on order, upgrading from the V3, like the way the tags now sit flush on rounded grips, the old ones can snap off, particularly if you lob the club across the fairway. Don't ask me how I know that...
Love that watch... was going to TGW to order the V3 and saw this, didn't want to lay out the extra hundo, but it is really worth it, so I did. Honestly, the new tags sold me.
I am a happy V3 user but I couldn’t pass up the $100 discount. I currently use an iPhone app for hole layouts and to track score that I refer to while editing. Once hole view is released I don’t think I will need the phone app anymore. The last thing missing is being able to connect shotscope to USGA GHIN to post HC.
Great video. I've ordered my X5 and it's on its way. I have the V3, and the only thing I found annoying was the strap coming apart at times. New one looks much better. The only other thing that is all down to me (probably an age thing) is that I nearly always forget to finish my putts on the green. Luckily this can be sorted in the app..
Hi Lockie, I’m a Garmin S40 user as I love the automatic reminder to enter your score when leaving the green. Must fly now as I’m playing the Medal this morning…….No doubles or triples!
Only purchased my V3 about 6 months ago, coming from another system, so I won't be upgrading but really like the Shotscope, also use a range finder which I've had for years, great to see how Shotcope keep inovating their product and support it, great review to thanks Coach.
My experience with the current version is that it is hopeless at tracking where you hit your putts from and where the pin is on the green - it often positions it off the green! Shots from bunkers also often appear outside the bunkers. I have had lengthy correspondence with Shotscope about this and they admitted it wasn’t that accurate on greens. Have you tried tracking putt positions on the new watch?
Hi from North Myrtle Beach South Carolina! Had v2 and presently have v3. Was ready to switch to Garmin s40 until x5 came out with discount. No brainer. I ordered mine 3 days ago and selling the x3 to a friend. I was excited to see a review on this-so Thanks! Thanks for the review-- 1st time here and new subscriber.
If you have a Shotscope account they send you an email with a link. If you have an account and they haven’t sent one automatically you could ask them for it.
I use a Garmin watch that tracks everything you could think of, including golf, and the battery lasts for up to 10 days. I also just got the Masters edition NX10 range finder from Precision Pro.
I have the V3 and have the X5 on order. I’m pleased to see the strap issue on the V3 has been addressed. I’ve been using an elastic band to keep mine on which it not a good look. Having the scoring option as you finish a hole is a plus - apart from anything else it is an extra reminder to enter the putts. The new tags look like a big upgrade as well. One of my existing tags sheared off leaving the threaded piece in the club. Their appears to be no easy way to get it out. If anyone has found a solution to this problem please let me know. Anyway happy to stick with a company that rewards its existing customers and is always looking to improve its products.
I apparently have had a couple of mine steer off as well. I think I'm just going to take a 1/8th or 3/32 drill bit and poke through them. Whichever one is still smaller than the diameter of the plastic. Pretty excited about the new system. It seems they have addressed most of the issues I have with the V3. Whatever their next version will be, it seems like it's going to be the grand slam of golf watches. I'm really happy with the company, and glad I ended up going with them rather than Garmin or Arccos.
I've got the V3 and those improvements sound so good. I had those same issues with the watch strap and the tracking tags so it's great to hear that ShotScope have improved there. Must admit it looks so much better as well. Just a shame I've only had my v3 a year otherwise I would be gearing up for the V5. Is the watch strap still very rubbery? I find it quite uncomfortable.
Definitely the X5 is better with the new designed strap when comparing with the V3. And more features than the V3. I have a replacement from them a week ago, which shows they are responsible and reliable.
Always wondered. Do you record putts off the green? Ie 1 putt off the green and 1 putt on the green. Do you score that as 2 putts or does it auto record the one off the green? Hope that question makes sense
Yes your question make sense, On the V3 it's when you take your putter in your hand, your watch recognise it. When you putt on green or off green it's still a putt stroke so when it's time to record putt's you count every putt stroke. That seem not have change on the X5, i'll see it on the blue one that i ordered 😉.
Love using the V3 but also use a separate golf app on the phone for hole overview and keeping score, it'll be great to have it all in one device (when the hole overview upgrade is released). Ordered the V5 so I'm looking forward to using it.
Hi Coach from Texas! I have gps on my iphone that connects to my Apple watch. Works great for me. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles yours does but gives me the distance to the green and keeps my stats.
@coachlockey definitely your best slide. Previously, you used the Shot Scope Rangefinder. How does the accuracy of this one work compare to your Rangefinder e.g. still required or is it (now) redundant? List of hazards and lay-up, combined with scoring and pin tap to finish make it a winner.
I use a Bushnell with slope but I think it might be advantageous to have both the laser and watch plus I want the stats data, I was just about to buy the V3 but guess I should get this instead.
I purchased a V3 last year but I sort of feel like I'd be better served supplementing that with a laser rangefinder. The V5 has a number of upgrades, I'm just not sure if there's a big enough difference to justify another purchase.
Nice video, 2 questions: 1. So to get the correct tracking you need to pick the club out from the bag where your ball is. Or does it somehow pick up on the swing? 2. Can you use both yards & meters?
The tags you screw into each club (having assigned within your Shot Scope account) work in tandem with the antenna built into the watch strap and the satellites in the sky to determine your location on the course to each shot. Each tag is assigned to a different club. After you’ve finished your round, you edit it using the mobile app or online desktop to make sure all of the shots are correct. The watch allows you to display the distances in both yards of meters. You can set this within the mobile app or on the watch itself. Hope this helps, Cheers
@@AndysGolfBlog thanks for the response. I get the overall picture though. Just that with arccos they listen to the ball strike, thus can capture the exakt point om the course where the ball is hit. With this solution, if I grab my club from the bag, which I have left to the path to the next tee, and then walk 20m to my ball, then I guess the capture of the strike will be where my bag was (when I pick up the club)? This I have not seen any info on. If anyone knows.
The swing is recorded by the tag on each club which communicates with the watch via an antenna in the band so no worry with pulling the club and walking to your ball.
No need to touch or tap anything to trigger the device. You simply swing and wherever your next swing occurs, the system recognizes the location you've hit to. Penalty shots need to be manually entered because if you take more than one swing (ie practice or ball out of bounds) it will only recognize the club swung and then record your next shot and assume the club you used put you at the location of the next shot.
Thanks 4 your demo. I’ve using my Garmin VIVOACTIVE 3 full activity watch to track shots off the tee and yardage on the course. However, the Vivoactive 3 is an older Garmin technology product….So, I have to download each course prior to playing. Therefore, I’ve been considering an upgrade. This shot scope product seems like a good option. However, I like the idea of having one watch 4 all my activities. Thanks again.
@@jp33kidd Yeah…..LOL! Tough decision! I’m a runner and I spend a lot of morning on my bike….My Vivoactive 3 works just fine for all sorts of activity tracking which includes Golf. I really like the idea of using one watch 4 all activities. The upgrade from the Vivoactive products would of course be The Garmin Approach 62 ! At $500.00 retail….. I just can get my arms around the idea yet ! LOL!
@@nycabilifeisgreat9768 I totally agree. I like everything about my Vivoactive 4 except the golf analysis data. That's why I want a shot scope. I just can't bring myself to pay $300 for the new one. I walk most of my rounds so I love the Garmin for tracking steps etc. If you know anyone who àn email I can use for the shot scope discount let me know 🤪
I would like to know if that new strap will fit on the other watch Like maybe the new tags with it As am happy with the old watch Thinking the new watch looks too big
I currently own version 3. I am one of those individuals that does not take a warm-up swing prior to a shot. To ensure that I registered the club being used, I touched the tag to the bottom of the band--my understanding that there was an antenna in the band on version 3. How will this work on the X5?
@coachlockey I have the ShotScope H4. In your honest opinion, would you go with the X5 or just keep the H4 until years later when something newer comes out. Seeing as they have the same features minus step counter, dogleg and new Gen tags
Nice review but I'm not entirely convinced to upgrade from my v3, which I'm very happy with. Looks like it lags a bit with the touch screen and it doesn't at all with the v3, where I like that everything is managed via the buttons. Also like v3 design better. X5 looks big? I know that I will not use the function of placing the flag on Green at all. I have rangefinder to get accurate distance. The only thing I miss in v3 is live scoring. The bracelet has always worked well and the tags work almost 100%. So for me there needs to be a better update for me to buy. But it will be fun to see other reviews during the year, maybe I Will change my mind?
You just sold me on this lockey, shotscope sent me the £100 off offer as I already use the v3 but I wasn’t going to get one……then I watched this 😂👍🏻 just ordered one
Ordered yesterday but have too wait as Shotscope will not ship before mid April 😢. This will be my first data collecting tool. Wanted Arccos, but I didn’t like the subscription fee.
waiting for mine to be delivered. Brucey bonus with the full hole view upgrade coming later on in tbe year. the gift that keeps giving. Shot scope is an amazing peice of kit. cant wait to strap it on and fire it up😅
Coach I haven’t golfed in years and getting back into the game after 3 back surgeries and a neck surgery. All this technology is a lot do you think this would be the right choice or range finder? I have been looking at this for the club tags would help to learn yardage as well. Appreciate your help
Myself and daughter have V3s, but I’ve taken up the upgrade option for the X5 with midnight blue strap. Daughter is not quiet 9 yet so I’m not upgrading her too! I was with Arccos years ago, but Shotscope is a much better system.
Thanks Coach. How accurate is it on recording shots? I have trued other brands and it missed too many. Does it show the distance of each shot except putts?
Nice review Matt, can't wait for mine to arrive! Do you know if it's possible for the watch to track your score but not display it, so you don't see how badly you're doing until you finish?
I like this set up… Just enough info and no slope, which is something I like to work out for myself anyways to work on my spatial recognition. Good looking, smart, and functional… I’m definitely interested now! Thanks Coach! Next time hopefully the rain won’t be so rude. LOL.
Depth exactly the same as the V3. I actually checked after I had finished the edit 🤦♂️ circular design much nicer and didn’t interfere with my swing at all. Strap million times better.
Just ordered but I have a question that you didn't cover. How well does this automatically track your shots. I currently have a g3 and I continually forget to touch my club to the device. Thanks!
@@CoachLockeyAnother feature of the upgraded tags is increased range, so the watch picks up the club selected more easily, even if you grip down away from the tag.
Got the v3 and happy with that. Will await the next model in 18 months to 2 years time. I like the square look of the V3. Are the new tags more accurate? Are they compatible with the v3? No doubt they’ll be an option to buy them separately.
@@Nick-H-77 me too. Apart from the putting and pin collect. Sometimes it's far too long and then defaults to 2 feet for short putts. Everything else spot on. Rarely misses a shot for me.
Used Shotscope for years but mine broke 6 months ago and wouldn’t register any shots. There was no indication they were releasing a new one so I bought a Garmin the week before this was launched
U did not cover how the shot tracking worked. I am interested but want to know how it works, does it know what club, does it give u all shot distance at end etc..
Sorry, shot tracking is done automatically throughout the round. The watch knows which club you are using because of the tags in your clubs and then it’s mapped automatically in the app and on the stat dashboard 👍
You totally had me, then you lost all your credibility when you turned your cap around. LOL Not really. Great video and thanks for showing us all the cool features on the new watch version. I was about to order the V3 as I see that they come out with the brand new one.
Got mine today; two weeks later than promised. Took it out on the course, not impressed, too much going on not at all intuitive. Also they’ve started to make changes already, it doesn’t unlock in the way shown in this video 🤷♂️
Possibly the best slide of my life in this introduction 😂
Let me know you’re thoughts in the comments people. Are you a GPS or Laser Rangefinder golfer??
Both. Use the shot scope V4 watch, and then an old laser just to cover all bases 😆
I use GPS watch by Voice Caddie and it gives you the break of the greens on some not all courses!🐊

If you know anyone who àn email I can use for the shot scope discount let me know 🤪
I use the V3; if I could afford to I would upgrade, it looks superb.
Already used V2 abd V3. Based on Andy's videos I have ordered the blue X5. Thanks for this additional review that confirms my buy decision.
Glad to help
Ordered mine in the same colour Coach great review. For the price with the discount offered by ShotScope it’s great value.
Been waiting for a good review on the Shot Scope X5. Thanks
@coachlockey I have the ShotScope H4. In your honest opinion, would you go with the X5 or just keep the H4 until years later when something newer comes out. Seeing as they have the same features minus step counter, dogleg and new Gen tags
Got the V3 atm it's been brilliant but having probs with course changes downloads appart from that hiccup brilliant
Get in touch with shotscope they will help I’m sure 👌
I hope they update the non-watch version. I currently use their h4 and would love the new features of this.
I have the V3, but the new one is already on the way.
Excellent video. I have ordered my watch after using the V3 since it came out.
Seems like a complete copy of my Garmin S60 but looks a bit nicer! The Garmin is so Glitchy I very rarely take it out! May need to upgrade!
V3 is great. I loved mine and this isn’t replacing it it’s an extension to their range 👍
You just sold me on this lockey, shotscope sent me the £100 off offer as I already use the v3 but I wasn’t going to get one……then I watched this 😂👍🏻 just ordered one
Couldn’t live without my V3….but placed an order for the stealth black x5👌
Ordered yesterday but have too wait as Shotscope will not ship before mid April 😢. This will be my first data collecting tool. Wanted Arccos, but I didn’t like the subscription fee.
waiting for mine to be delivered. Brucey bonus with the full hole view upgrade coming later on in tbe year. the gift that keeps giving. Shot scope is an amazing peice of kit. cant wait to strap it on and fire it up😅
I will be definitely getting this watch
would you say this is better than the GARMIN APPROACH S12 or S42 or S62 ? looking for a good golf watch...cheers from Canada
Coach I haven’t golfed in years and getting back into the game after 3 back surgeries and a neck surgery. All this technology is a lot do you think this would be the right choice or range finder? I have been looking at this for the club tags would help to learn yardage as well. Appreciate your help
If you are getting back into golf wanting to improve this is 100% for you.
Got mine on order. 👍🏼
Waiting on my Stealth Black one!!! Lovely upgrade for my V3. Great vid
Hi Coach, I have the V3 and found the tags a bit hit and miss on recording shots. Are the new tags any more reliable?
Worked fine in my review but I will be monitoring throughout the next few months 👍
I haven’t had issues with my old V3 or new X5 versions with drop shots. Yes it shows distance of every shot.
Nice review Matt, can't wait for mine to arrive! Do you know if it's possible for the watch to track your score but not display it, so you don't see how badly you're doing until you finish?
I am hoping that they have that feature aswell
Shot scope are so easy to use. The new watch looks 🤩 brilliant
Have been patiently waiting for the successor to the V3. Now that it's here I'll be ordering right away. Thanks for the video, coach.
You’re welcome 👍
I like this set up… Just enough info and no slope, which is something I like to work out for myself anyways to work on my spatial recognition. Good looking, smart, and functional… I’m definitely interested now! Thanks Coach! Next time hopefully the rain won’t be so rude. LOL.
Never rely on England for the weather 🤦♂️
@@CoachLockey I'd tell you to come to California Coach, but the weather here has been a bit rude too...with a side of angry!
How does the thickness of the 12mm face compared to the V3? Do you feel the watch interfere with your swing?
Depth exactly the same as the V3. I actually checked after I had finished the edit 🤦♂️ circular design much nicer and didn’t interfere with my swing at all. Strap million times better.
Great video. My X5 came today.. I can't wait to use it the weekend. Nice to hear a free software upgrade is on the way too. 😎👍
Enjoy it
Cheers Coach ordered with the discount, looks great
Hope you enjoy it!
That's a cool piece of equipment, Coach! Thanks for the info!
Any time!
Just ordered but I have a question that you didn't cover. How well does this automatically track your shots. I currently have a g3 and I continually forget to touch my club to the device.
Thanks!
No touching required. Does it automatically 👍
@@CoachLockeyAnother feature of the upgraded tags is increased range, so the watch picks up the club selected more easily, even if you grip down away from the tag.
Hi great video. Best review i have seen 👍.
Do you have any discount codes for shot scope
Got the v3 and happy with that. Will await the next model in 18 months to 2 years time. I like the square look of the V3. Are the new tags more accurate? Are they compatible with the v3? No doubt they’ll be an option to buy them separately.
The new tags are definitely backwards compatible. Not sure about more accurate. The old ones were plenty accurate enough for me.
Send it back 👍 must be in the 14 day period or whatever returns policies are these days 👌😏
I like the watch but would like to see a review of the L2 also
Noted 📝
Range finder review please
Laser rangefinder guy but I really like the convenience of these watches. Talk them into a giveaway.
3:49 it's concave bruh 😊
Why do you have 2, 21° clubs ??
Is it still necessary for lefties to wear it on the right wrist??
I have used it on both wrists. Didn’t see any issues personally.
@@CoachLockey thanks Coach, have to wear the V3 on my right wrist and it always unlocks itself while playing 😖
Got mine on pre-order - If it sucks, you gotta grow a real beard ;)
Great review, very much interested in this new watch, any discount codes coach ?
There is a link in the description 👍
U did not cover how the shot tracking worked. I am interested but want to know how it works, does it know what club, does it give u all shot distance at end etc..
Sorry, shot tracking is done automatically throughout the round. The watch knows which club you are using because of the tags in your clubs and then it’s mapped automatically in the app and on the stat dashboard 👍
You totally had me, then you lost all your credibility when you turned your cap around. LOL
Not really.
Wait...so the 'move the pin' feature doesn't actually place the pin? Still gotta do it next to the flag? What? It should! Lame lol
