Sitting at a 28.5, let’s see if this may help. I know having my club distances are a must.

Important point missed: the touch screen of the X5 is very sensitive. It reacts to every touch, also water and (I suspect) long sleeve fabric. And obviously it uses more energy, so in worst case the battery just manages to last 18 holes. I put a savvies screen protector on it recently which seems to help. And SS has announced they work on a firmware update to reduce rain sensitivity. Still V5 is the smarter choice I think. I only wish they released them the other way around... I love their system, there's no way I could process that data the same way myself. I learned that for my desired 15 hcp bracket I need to get a lot better in putting from 3-6 feet. I seem to compensate with my greenside short game which is allegedly on par with a Tour player (LOL. which makes me seriously doubt the validity of that strokes gained measurement)

Probably would have played a 6 iron from that yardage, have a Garmin pretty basic, usually play a yardage between front and middle..... Cheers Coach!!

Coach your are very Lucky that your watch works. Regrettably I got the bad one and it seems a lot others. Main complaints being the watch does not pick up shots, or record scores properly.

Excellent review of all 3 ShotScope watches.
I've just started using the X5 with club sensors after using Arccos for 3 years. Why did I swap? Shotscope has no subscription, and I was not seeing any improvements coming from Arccos even though you are paying for an annual subscription. Arccos sensors battery do run out and are not always picked up when playing. I used the Link for detection, but the battery drain on your phone was still high, not making it through a round on occasions.
When I was considering the Shotscope, my biggest concern was needing to wear a Watch, which I usually hate when playing golf. I looked at the H4 with the laser range finder, but knew I'd lose it during a round. After using the X5 watch, I can say that I barely noticed it on my wrist, so I'm super happy in that regard.
I was also concerned that the watch wouldn't pick up the clubs, however, it picks them up easily and I seem to be thinking far less of it than I did with Arccos, which I was always checking.
One of the biggest changes that I have made using the Shotscope system is exactly what Matt has pointed out in this video. Stop going for the pin and getting into trouble and simply shoot for the centre of the green. Use the main yardage on the watch and you will hit more greens.
The main thing that started me on the swap from Arccos to Shotscope was the MyStrategy system. This is a game changer as it allows you to plan your approach to playing a new course OR adjust your strategy as your club distances change, due to age or you get better at hitting the ball. It keeps track of your shots and lets you know how far you actually hit your clubs, NOT what you think you hit your clubs. I'm using the MyStrategy on my phone while I'm playing and using the Notes section to look at what I'm suggesting I should be doing, avoiding, carrying or not after I plan my game before playing the course. I would love there to be a second shot strategy option, but that comes when you're playing by using the Layup screen.
Minor issues have happened with Round Syncing, but these have always been the phones Bluetooth. (I need a new phone).
If you have problems, uninstall the Shotscope app and reinstall and then it should upload your rounds.
BTW, the Shotscope dashboard is great for post processing your rounds. If you're serious about improving, then this is time well spent.
I'm still trying to sort out a quick way to do the PinCollect during competition play as I'm conscious of not holding up play but will work something out the more I play. Would love to know what tactics you're using to avoid delays and annoying other players.
Coach Lockey, your videos are becoming one of the best on RUclips for golfers. Keep it up

Great vid, Coach! One question…do these Shot Scope watches give “plays as” slope distances?

    • @CoachLockey
      @CoachLockey  2 месяца назад

No slope readings as they are not allowed in tournaments. Im sure in future there will be a tournament mode that can be turned on and off, if not i better put my name to that haha

I used the v5 for the first time and found the club recognition is still a little suspect. I realized that I need to make sure to touch the sensor to the watch band to make sure it recognizes a new club is selected and therefore a new shot is about to happen.
Has anyone else having the same issue?

@@henryyoung3897 I tried it for a second time and same issue. Plus ran into syncing issues. It is being returned to Amazon today. Thank goodness for Amazon's return policy.

How about an iPhone app that pairs with an Apple Watch?

I enjoyed this video as I am a gadget guy, but after reading the Amazon reviews I decided to stay away from this level of technology. Seems the company promises a lot of features and statistical tracking yet the device either doesn't make the task easy or simply doesn't track clubs/shots/statistics accurately. Wishing the best to those who did make a purchase. Please report your experiences below for future reference.

Had Arccos and switched to the V3 for the no subscription or phone in the pocket. Just as accurate. Upgraded to the X5 and better still. I can’t get on with buttons as I activate them against the hand, so the swipe screen on the X5 much better for me. The SG data is getting better all the time and the upgrades coming for the X5 will make it even better.
