Excellent review. Any chance you could do a “Beginners Guide to editing post-round” please ? How to add a shot, delete a shot, add penalty shots, add putts etc. I’m loving the V5 but struggling to use it properly 👍🏻
Thanks so much.

Great review - so slick! Subscribed - Is the user feedback indicating that the V5 suffers from the same unreliable hardware issues that the V3 has?
Thanks Chris, appreciate the sub 🙏 I don’t think I’ve seen as many issues with the V5 reported, but I guess it’s still early days
I think you missed the point of its charger. This is the only major issue ive found. Its a special cord and the contacts get gummed up if you wear sunscreen and bug repellent. If you break the cord its $20 and always out of stock.
Never had an issue with the charger myself, but thanks for the feedback 👍👍
Nice review mate. I'm sticking with my trusty Garmin S42 for the foreseeable
Thank you 🙏 If it’s working and you’re happy, no need to switch 👍👍
I've used this watch for 15+ rounds now and generally like it a lot. This review is spot on, but I found that editing the round using the app is far more difficult than doing it on a PC. I forget to record the number of putts a LOT and recording the pin locations post-round does not give enough precision to actually give me good putting data. So, I switched off the 'record putts' feature. For the money this is a fabulous way to see your dispersion and distances, but understand you will have to do post-round editing every time.
Thanks for sharing Steve. I'd never think to edit on a computer instead of an app. I agree with you thought, I don't really record my putting data with any accuracy, so I just ignore it.
Fantastic review! Still seems too much effort and time whilst playing a round. Good price but I'm still not convinced I need it.
Thanks Bradley 👍👍
9:16. I had the same issue, asked shotscope about it, and also confirmed by the dashboard. If the screen is in putting mode, it does still record your wedge needed to get the ball back on the green. Strategy I find pretty useful when playing a completely new course. I also like that they have an additional set of spare X-tags that I could buy extra to satisfy my wedge fetish.
Thanks for confirming. ‘Wedge fetish’ 🤣
Whichever Shotscope device you choose, from experience I can vouch it is better than Arccos in price and use. The Arccos desktop app is a little better but Shotscope isn’t far off. I use the X5 and my only annoyance is the release of the V5 not long after we V3 owners were lured into buying a discounted X5. It comes over as Shotscope finding too many touchscreen issues so reverting back to buttons.
Good to hear re Arcoss. Yeah I’m afraid to say I’d rather use the V5 than the X5
I have worn this twice and it has never worked correctly. It does not automatically move from green to tee. Im giving it one more chance before i take it back
That sucks, moved greens fine with me. If it’s not working as it should, send it back 👍👍
Been lurking, looking at watch reviews for ages, finally pulling the trigger on this, due to price, looks and functionality. Only played one round so far as then went on holiday but so far i am really pleased with it. Great value.
Great stuff Geoff 👍
Excellent, clear to the point video! Thank you Golf Guy!
Thanks Joe, really appreciate your comment :)
i got a message from Jim Phelps & it blew up
I get it’s a mission impossible reference….but I don’t get why 🤣
I have the h4, I'm wondering if the tags need to be changed if I go with the watch?
I believe the H4 tags will work, but you can replace them with the new V2 versions when you’re ready 👍
I'm guessing all the golf watches are based on the same maps?
I believe they purchase a license to use a base line of map data, and then they update it from there. I’m not sure how many different providers there are of map data.. I know that Sky Caddie are the only ones who use their own data by sending staff out to walk courses.
Ok cool. I always wondered if all the watches base functionality were the same due to the maps being the same provider.
Been in touch with Shot Scope. Turns out they don’t license a 3rd party for their maps, and they use their own data
Good lord.
I just bought one as at that price it seemed a steal however first impression is the watch is a bit cheap but the worst thing is the screen. For me it's so dull and hard to read and not ideal for some one who needs glasses close up.
Sorry to hear that. Can’t say I had any issues using the screen, but I don’t need glasses close up so that sounds like a factor. I hope you took advantage of their returns policy
@@GolfGuyReviews TBF on a nice clear day the screen is fine but like you I would have liked the option to make it brighter. That would certainly help long sighted numpties like me 😁
