As a Nigerian and as far as money is involved, there is no way there could be a "mafia" that could control things across Italy on the scale of which they speak. We are simply just not that organised, that is literally the fundamental fault of our country.

It’s sad, pathetic and grossly disappointing that Nigerians gets this inhumane treatment in Italy and the Nigerian foreign affairs ministry stood afar with arms folded and not taking fierce diplomatic actions against the Italian government.
This happens worldwide -- countries open their borders to myriad immigrants all over the world but when African/ Black/Afro Caribbean immigrants come there is a visceral reaction against them that sparks anti- immigrant sentiment. For example, in the 90s the US consistently returned Haitian immigrants coming on rafts and dingys but gave Cubans coming on rafts asylum. In the early 2000s to the mid 2010s, France and governmental factions rioted and protested the growing African immigrant presence, and now this example in Italy. Same story different day... it's just what it is and probably always will be...🤷🏽♀️

As a Nigerian i believe the Italian justice system can be racist but i also know that every confraternity in any nigerian university are violent criminal groups that front as philanthropic organizations these days, they may have started with geniue intentions initially in the 60s-70s but has since turned out to be violent groups and this so called marphite are no different, just google morphite on Nigerian internet and see for yourself. Plus Edo State Nigeria is the center of where these cultist activities occur over the years. The Italian government should carry out proper investigation without bias and I'm sure they'd see them for who they really are. But turning it into a political issue especially by far right groups doesn't help matters at all.

The term" Nigeria Mafia" was coined by the Italian far right to gain political popularity/sympathy from the Italian people. When people do crimes elsewhere they like to cite Africa as a whole. No that's not correct. Each person must answer for themselves, instead of dragging innocent Africans into it. Most countries can make laws to protect their citizens whether it's fair or not.

Its not just how well one example can represent the whole, it's not just simple racism. The issue is immigration policy and tolerances. It's too much, too fast and from too many sides. We have nigerian mafia in switzerland (look up black axe) and it took a very long time until someone spoke about it because of fear of getting labelled racist.
