Shohei loves the dramatics just earlier this month he hit a walk-off Grand slam to get to 40 40. On his bobblehead night his dog made a perfect first pitch and then he hit a home run on his first at bat
When he got injured last year, I thought his best days were over, and I was frustrated with the Angels for not utilizing his talent. But to my surprise, he adapted his game and elevated it even further. I’m not sure if his arm will ever dominate the way it used to, but like Babe Ruth, his hitting might reach new heights. Plus, there’s a chance he’ll play in the outfield once he's done pitching. Even though I’m primarily a football and basketball fan, I’m Shohei’s biggest supporter because I simply appreciate greatness. Here’s to witnessing more broken sports records!
It had nothing to do with Angels for not utilizing his talent, they didn't even try to get starting pitching. Shohei was their ONLY good starter but he also played everyday! Madness
As of right now shohei and caitlyn clark are dominating the amount of viewership in their sports. They are always playing their best so you never know what history making game youll see
Ok, there would be one who hits 3 HRs, who goes 6/6 at bats, who earns 10 RBIs in game. But he did it when he crowned as the founder of the 50-50 club. Baseball God should be really loving him.
When they said Ohtani should not be MVP, they woke the sleeping giant, poked the bear, grabbed the tiger by the tail, played with fire, opened Pandora's box, bit off more than they could chew, walked into the lion's den, shot themself in the foot, let the dogs out, stepped on Elvis's blue suede shoes, put a hit on Vito Corleone, lit the fuse, said hello to Tony Montana's little friend, drank the Kool-aid, unleashed the Kraken, wrote a check they could not cash, crossed the Rubicon, told Tommy Devito to go home and get his shinebox, leaped before looking, painted themself into a corner, tried to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, called Marty McFly a chicken, rocked the boat, stepped on a crack, pissed off Bruce Banner, did not stay in their lane and know their role, assassinated Archduke Ferdinand, ate the poison apple, captained the Exxon Valdez, touched a nerve, stole John Wick's car and killed his dog, jumped out of the frying pan into the fire, checked into the Hotel California, counted their chickens before they hatched, put their foot in their mouth, brought a knife to a gunfight, bombed Pearl Harbor, broke a mirror, walked under a ladder, crossed paths with a black cat, barked up the wrong tree, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, looked a gift horse in the mouth, stirred up a hornet's nest, called the kettle black, bit the hand that feeds them, dropped a bar of soap in a men's prison shower, brought cannabis to Russia in luggage, screwed the pooch, made it completely FUBAR, let the fox in the henhouse, ran with scissors, licked a frozen pole, judged a book by its cover, put all their eggs in one basket, took the blue pill, effed around and found out, cried over spilt milk, got a taste of their own medicine, gave up their day job, went on a wild goose chase, smoked at a gas station, kicked against the goads, ran with the bulls, stepped on a rake, painted a bullseye on their back, slipped on a banana peel, dropped the ball, stirred the pot, crossed wires, swam with the sharks, danced with the devil, tripped over a land mine, became a fly in the ointment, a monkey in the wrench and a pain in the ass, went down in flames, burned their bridges, did not play with a full deck, went up the creek without a paddle, doused fire with gasoline, cut off their nose to spite their face, pooped their pants, threw stones in a glass house, told Clint Eastwood they feel lucky, invested in Enron stock, sailed aboard the Titanic, tugged on Superman's cape, spit into the wind, pulled the mask off the old Lone Ranger and messed around with Jim.
That double header left Ohtani with 1.2 WAR from that day. The 50-50 game wasn’t even inarguably his best game (just 0.7 WAR) or his best day I think his best single game was when he pitched 6 innings and gave up 1 run and hit 2 HRs (8 RBI) in the same game (0.8 WAR in just 1 game)
He ALMOST did that in one day last year! He did a shutout in game 1 of a double header, then hit 2 HR in the last game of it. In one day he got a 2 hit shutout and a 2 HR game.
He was 6-6, 5 extra base hits, 3 HR, 2 sb, 10 rbi....no single player has done all these things across their entite career, and he did it in 1 game. Let that sink in
If you think he wont pitch, you dont understand Shohei. I dont think he will ever be "satisfied" with any achievement, but you can be sure that his bucket list includes a Cy Young award. Once he wins that ... maybe he can be convinced to focus just on hitting. But the absolute joy he showed when he hit the 50-50 reminded me of exactly the sort of thrill he displayed in high school when he absolutely dominated another team from the mound. Yeah ... he will definitely pitch next season.
It's just crazy how ohtani does things in the most iconic way possible. First WBC? Strikes out his teammate trout. 40/40 hits a walk off grandslam. 50/50? Hits 3 hrs and steals 2 bases with double digit RBIs.
I loved boston Connors comment on Skenes. "He's gonna look great in a Dodgers uniform". So true. You know when his contract in Pittsburgh is up, the dodgers will be calling.
Don't feel bad about not being Baseball's biggest fan, Pat & crew. The fact that you have the "must tune in" feeling when Paul Skenes or Shohei are playing is already a win for Baseball.
To reach 40-40 is rare and hard enough but 50-50 you got to have incredible power and speed (that's an all around player) some like Judge has power but no speed, Dal la Cruz has speed but average power, Acuna has speed but 40 is his limit (he was'nt going to get another 40-40 this year, before Acuna got hurt sliding on May 28 he was hitting only .250 with 5 homeruns and 8 steals) the 50-50 mark will stand for a long time. And plus he's an Ace Pitcher with a career 3.01 ERA and 11.1 Ks (can win 15 games with a 2.33 ERA in a season)
Football people presume too much.. but they should thank the sport of baseball for where they are now. As a now there is not better sport stars than Ohtani!!
Haven’t come across the “they” who claim it was the single greatest day in the history of sports. I have heard, and agree, it was probably the single greatest offensive day for an individual player when combining his ridiculous box score, creating the 50/50 club, and winning the game that put him in the playoffs for the first time in his career. Shohei calls that a Thursday. Oh, all of that happened on the 1 year anniversary, to the day, of his undergoing Tommy John surgery.
I can imagine once Ohtani is pitching again, his stat will be like 40-50-200 : 40 HRs, 50 SBs, 200Ks....and he will be MVP all seasons until he get retired 😅
Baseball has some truly great players right now of course there's ohtani, but Aaron judge is a monster Bobby Witt Jr is an unbelievably talented young shortstop, Mookie Betts is an all-time Talent so many more I could list.
It’s funny cus they used to say he should just pitch just last year. Cus his pitching is an art Also, he doesn’t even hit with his domain hand! He is primarily a pitcher. Not a hitter
ohtani needs to pitch...it's what makes him so special...proving that the impossible can be done...he wants to be on the mound as well...if i was his manager, i'd bring ohtani back next season from the bullpen...set him up as a closer...he can hit like griffey jr...run like henderson...& pitch like rivera
Hey, Pat, Shohei was pitching and hitting at an elite level for three years and had two MVP awards during that stretch, but you were not aware of him until "getting introduced to him" a couple of years ago? Maybe best not to talk about a sport and a transcendent athlete that you pay no attention to until the public notoriety becomes so loud you can't ignore it.
I’m a casual baseball fan and this commentary felt like people who didn’t even watch sports. Not great guys haha, maybe just don’t comment if you’re entirely uninformed. 1 of several corrections would be how he would force them to trade him if they didn’t let him pitch. He wants it cause he wants every accolade possible. One of those guys who wants nothing short of greatest ever.
let him continue this kind of production for a few more years before calling him the greatest of all time. There are guys with 600-700 home runs that haven't juiced and have high batting averages and high rbi's and have done it for 15 plus years or more!
Limiting yourself will only produce mediocre at best and regrets at worst. Why do you think Shohei keeps doing things that not done before? Michael Jordan is not afraid to fail that's why he is so great.
Anyone who says Ohtani should never pitch again doesn't know anything about him as a pitcher. He was the best pitcher in MLB by ERA from 21-23 at 400+ innings. THE BEST. Are you saying DeGrom should never putch again because he keeps getting hurt too 🤦🏻♀️
How crazy is it that if Ohtani wasn't allowed to HIT next year...he's so damn talented that he'd be a very solid starting MLB pitcher independent of that. Those skills are so different that it's like if 30-year old Tom Brady wasn't allowed to quarterback anymore, but still was a Pro Bowl level linebacker lol. It makes no sense. Ohtani got his 50-50 and one of the greatest games in the same ballbark that he struckout Trout to win the WBC and the MVP
It’s 51/51
Also on the 1 year anniversary of his Tommy John surgery. Just so much happening in one day haha
@@zakkrick Now 52/52

He broke the 40/40 mark with a walk off grand slam and on the day he goes 50/50, he has the greatest single performance by a hitter ever.
He is like if I’m gonna do it, it’s gonna be a special way to make it happen 😅
and he’s a PITCHER!

Shohei is making baseball so exciting to watch for me. I watch baseball again because of him.
Me too. 2 years ago when heard there was a pitcher slamming homeruns. I gotta see this
I was there - it’s was a moment in time . Ohtani was amazing the fans was lit too
Shohei loves the dramatics just earlier this month he hit a walk-off Grand slam to get to 40 40. On his bobblehead night his dog made a perfect first pitch and then he hit a home run on his first at bat
i wouldn't even call 50-50 his greatest statistical feat. In 2022, he had a 30-200 year. Over 30 home runs as a hitter and over 200 ks as a pitcher
Good point
Babe Ruth did that every season
@@muddwhistle7833 No he didn't lmao
@@muddwhistle7833 LOL Ruth literally stopped being a pitcher to become a slugger. What a dumbfuck take.

Ohtani's right half is sitting at home on the IL while his left half went 50/50.
Because he never uses his right side in battle! He's the reverse Totoroki from MHA. I guess he was abused by his frost using mother!
When he got injured last year, I thought his best days were over, and I was frustrated with the Angels for not utilizing his talent. Wish Ohtani keeps pitching even is reliever, he could also be the best closer if he cant afford starter
With his work ethic, he might still have 3-4 seasons of starting pitcher. Just let him chase the history.
It had nothing to do with Angels for not utilizing his talent, they didn't even try to get starting pitching. Shohei was their ONLY good starter but he also played everyday! Madness
As of right now shohei and caitlyn clark are dominating the amount of viewership in their sports. They are always playing their best so you never know what history making game youll see
Shohei played right field in Japan for some time, had solid arm and decent defence.
From a diehard Cowboy and Mavs fan...Shohei got me watching baseball again. Or just Shohei highlights.
Props for Marlin's coach Skip to not walking Shohei. Even said "Bleep that."
Congrats Goatani!!!!!! ⚾
“This guy is the GOAT” “He’s underrated”

you forgot to say , you tea bag the wrong person
Been watchimg MLB simce the 70's. Ohtani is the best ever, to olay the game. His multiple different skill sets are unrivaled.
That pitch that Brujan threw Ohtani in the 9th is called a prayer I believe. Absolutely smashed it.
Ohtani is the first pitcher in the 50/50 club
uhm I think there will be noone else to come😂
Sho put a stamp on that. Hell of a game from da goat. Hes a offensive juggernaut. We are witnessing greatness
Ohtani might throw a no hitter while hit 2 homers in the same game next season.
He was close last year against the Tigers. Double header games where he pitched a 1-hit 9-inning shutout, then an hour later hit 2 homers.
That double header left Ohtani with 1.2 WAR from that day. The 50-50 game wasn’t even inarguably his best game (just 0.7 WAR) or his best day

I truly had tears in my eyes after his 40/40 club by hitting a grandslam to win the game. And he is still rehabbing his arm.
Another reason it wasn’t well attended was it was an afternoon game
It was a marlins game that’s why
the third homerun he hit might be the most majestic homerun in years, it nearly scraped the roof
Hitting is his second skill. Pitching is his actual position. Insane.
Very lucky to see him play both as an Angel and Dodger! Definitely incredible to witness!
it's already the greatest hitting performance ever but had he hit the cycle it would never be topped. maybe it was already that
I loved boston Connors comment on Skenes. "He's gonna look great in a Dodgers uniform". So true. You know when his contract in Pittsburgh is up, the dodgers will be calling.
Shohei should be a closing pitcher if the dodgers still want him to pitch. Less stress on arm, still pitches quality innings

A day late and a dollar short smh
I was thinking about it. You do have 1 clearcut generational talent now in each of 4 major sports. Ohtani, Mahomes, McDavid, and Wemby
Wasn’t everyone 5 years ago saying Mike Trout was the GOAT? things can change quickly in baseball.
Mike Trout avg 60 games a season the last several years. If hw can't stay healthy he will need to start dhing
700 millions and still underpaid! Is ridiculous!
He's a 1/2 SP option on any current team in baseball. Let that sink in
And for all of those who said Dimaggio's 56 game hitting streak would never be bettered it was impossible NEVER SAW SHOHEI OHTANI PLAY.
@6:55 “Skenes gonna look great in a Dodgers uniform” lmaooo conor haha I used to say the same thing 3 years ago with Ohtani and it came yrue

Shohei Ohtani is the Michael Jordan of Baseball.
I let Shohei do what he wants to do, and what he wants is to play as TWP.
BTW, he likes pitching more than hitting.

I think the decision as to pitching is what Ohtani wants to do. He seems to want to pitch and it's probably in his contract he will be allowed to.
