Jeff Passan wrote that Yahoo Sports article where he quoted a scout saying Ohtani was basically a high school hitter during his first spring training. You can still read it on the internet.

He also said “Something smells fishy,” when there was the Ippei scandal, implying that Shohei gambled illegally and tried to hide it. I think this Jeff Passan guy tries to play both sides so he can look good.

To be fair to that scout. If you go back and watch him in spring training 2018, he was really bad at the plate. As soon as the season started he went berserk until he was hurt. But that first spring training he had a lot of adjustments to make, so he did look quite terrible.

    • @teddy-ez5zt
      @teddy-ez5zt Месяц назад +5

To reach 40-40 is rare and hard enough but 50-50 you got to have incredible power and speed (that's an all around player) some like Judge has power but no speed, Dal la Cruz has speed but average power, Acuna has speed but 40 is his limit (he was'nt going to get another 40-40 this year, before Acuna got hurt sliding on May 28 he was hitting only .250 with 5 homeruns and 8 steals) the 50-50 mark will stand for a long time.

6-for-6 3 HR, 10 RBIs, 17 bases, 5 XBH, 2 SB Some may argue that it's not the best offensive game in the history, but if you add context to the stats:
    - Broke the Dodger home run record
    - 1st player to have 10+ rbis from leadoff spot
    - Created the 50/50 club
    - Clinched playoff berth
    - Chance to play in the postseason for the first time in his career
You can say it's the best game ever.
I thought he joined the 40/40 club the best way possible with the walk-off grand slam but he joined the 50/50 with a bang! I don't think anyone can top that.

The biggest part of Baseball is power and speed to be great, rather it's a power pitcher that throws a 100 mph slider or a batter that hits homeruns and can run and steal bases, Ohtani can do both of that better than anyone, that's why he's the Goat 🐐

Hitting a homer off a position player. Sure it's not as satisfying as hitting off an actual pitcher. But hey the Marlins player was doing all right and got 2 outs for his outing. He just happened to give Shohei the juiciest pitch he's ever gonna see to get that 3rd homer lol.

I have a theory about Ohtani: he doesn’t exist. It is impossible to do the things that he’s doing. Therefore, he’s an avatar created by artificial intelligence. He’s the manifest of all the fantasies that we had as little kids playing in our backyard, pretending we were in the big leagues.
But boy, he makes being a baseball fan fun… Six for six with three home runs… No big deal he should’ve had at least four home runs
I wonder if he can pitch also.
Kudos to foul/fair territory channel. You guys really do report baseball the way it should be reported!

It would have been so much fun if this happened at dodger stadium :. Marlins park one of the worst places to be for this.. also I’m sure more people would have been there if they thought he’d reach it that day but realistically everyone thought it’d happen when the dodgers got back home sometime in the next few days .. or else I’m sure more people would have been here even it being marlins park and all and no fan base .. very anticlimactic imo but still glad he got it and is on a tear
