- We show you in this video on how to test and fix common problem with code P1450 on your Ford vehicle years 2009 and up and how to test and replace the purge valve solenoid located in the engine bay. In this case we were working on a 2016 Ford edge but the concept is the same for Explorer, Escape, and F150.
Great video. Clear explanation. I have the P1450 code. Now I have to test the solenoid and if faulty replace it. Thank you.
No problem good luck with the repair!
Simple and to the point. Thanks.
No problem thanks for watching!
Great video and explanations! Changing one this weekend in a 2018 edge 3.5L.
Good luck! it shouldn’t be too bad of a job.
Thank you for showing us how to take out that connector. I was having a hard time with this. I was afraid to break it. Thank you again.
No problem glad it helped you out!
Awesome! Thanks for your help.
If the check engine light is still on, just use the reader to get it off?/ or will go off by its self
It will take a long time to get it off on its own but you can either get it off with a scanner or take off the negative cable on the battery and leave it off for 10 seconds and put it back on.
thanks!!
I’m having the same problem. Amma check on the purge valve. But the top switch you took out is broken does it effect the purge valve or do I have to switch it too?
If that one is leaking then yes you’ll have to replace that as well
What is the symptoms of the problem? What does the car do when the purge valve is malfunctioning? My 2019 stutters when hitting the gas and for said it the purge valve. A very trusted mechanic told me the transmission is going bad. ????
The purge valve will not affect the drivability of the car when accelerating. The only major effect you might notice is if the hose is disconnected it might cause it to stall.
What did you find out about your Ford with the loss of acceleration? My Edge is doing the same and check engine light is on with code P0456. Been having this code for a while but just starting to noticeably effect performance (acceleration).
my car farts and sputters
Thanks for this video! Mine is stuck open.. ford wants $900.... WOW
No problem glad it worked for you. now you can give yourself a little vacation with the money you didn’t have to give to ford
Blessings
Thank you god bless!
I blew through mine at first my air went through it than it stopped now I can’t blow through it what do you think?
air keeps coming back makes it haed to add fuelto tank, any comments
Did you test your purge valve again to make sure it’s not bad
This guy
What year is this edge, i have to replace one on a 2018 sel edge
This is a 2015. It should be the same on yours as well
Hi, I have to do it on my Edge 2017 Titanium. Did you manage to get it on your 2018? Was it the same?
Thanks! For the quick answer. From now on you have a new follower. Keep it up, blessings!!
@acetechauto7 Would a P2196 and P2198 code be the same reason? Or would it actually be the O2 sensors?
Most likely it’s not the oxygen sensor as they wouldn’t go bad at the same time.
I changed mine but the code is still active, what do you suggest?
Did you use an original part? It could be a faulty new part otherwise it might be a leak somewhere in which you’d need to get the system smoke tested.
Go to auto zone and have them clear the code with there diagnostic tester and see if comes back
It might have triggered a permanent code. If your device isn’t able to clear the code, I’m guessing that you have to go to Ford to have them clear it.
