Great video Cai. Folks, if you haven't taken yours apart yet and are planning to tackle this yourself, save your hands, knuckles, wrists, energy, curse words, and frustration. Do this instead - Clip the zip ties holding the 3 hoses together. Undo the white pinch connector hose from the top of the intake and underneath, and also the purge valve over on the driver's side under the intake hose. LEAVE the hose with the YELLOW CONNECTOR ALONE. Undo the zip ties on the new standard piece, and use the hoses there, other than the one with the yellow connectors. After you have the other new hoses set into place and purge valve in place, just zip tie them back together like they were from the factory and you're set. I'm 2 days into a 15 minute job, so don't be like me.
Changing mine on my 2020 Edge thanks for posting I watched your video to see how to unlock the green plug that goes to the purge valve, got it all unhooked new part will be here tomorrow got a standard motor co replacement part also, mines under warranty but the motor craft replacement is on back order, been bad since end of May, last few fill ups I’ve had to leave car running because it’s been hard to start occasionally after filling up, thanks again for the video helped me get the hose released
Great video! My hand is big so I had to remove the tension wheel and then the intake manifold for the two connections on the left, however, while I had the intake off I cleaned the carbon out and put in an oil catch can. Keep up the great work and videos. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!!!!
I struggled for 30 minutes trying to get those bottom ones off. I ended up cutting the hose off, turning the connector to face down then I was able to pop them right off Installing the new one only took a few minutes.
Thanks for the video. I have to change this on my wife's car tomorrow because Oreilley's gave me the wrong part today. Every vehicle I could find just requires the actual purge valve to change, except the vehicle we have, which requires all the hoses and extra stuff and costs triple! lol
Changing mine on my 2020 edge got it taken apart new one is supposed to be here tomorrow I watched this video to see how to release the lock on the hose that goes to the purge valve not to bad but really tight area especially the bottom hose that goes to the passenger side
The tip about pre-loading that bottom yellow clip is golden, but it's a PITA because it keeps clicking back in place while trying to fit it onto the fitting. Grrrrr
P0496 . This code is high purge flow. Is doing the repair going to fix my issue. My edge is 2019 and stalling out randomly and after fill up stalling off and rough idle after fill up.
This video is super helpful so thank you... I am having trouble with that bottom connection though. Should that yellow clipped housing snap itself locked when you push it to the "right"? No matter how hard I push it just doesn't want to lock in
Yea I should sound like having the same problem I had. You have to push harder pass the point where you think it’s enough. Once you do that try to push the yellow clip in so it can lock. It’s going to be a challenge but you can do it🤝🏾
I cheated a bit, I loosened the hose clamps above and below that tit the bottom connection hooks to. Rolled it out to the front of the car and it gave me much more room to work, only took a couple tries after that!
Bro my whole ass hand is cut up lol. I’m tryna take that clamp and turn it a bit but doesn’t seem to matter which way I turn it. I can get them pushed down but when I try to pull it out, giving me a big middle finger
@@yaboycai9578 I did! And then the same code appeared a few days later. I did just get a new solenoid and replaced, cleared the code again and it hasn’t shown…. Fingers crossed

Thanks brother. Helped a bunch!

Oh good job getting that carbon out of there, thanks for the support 🤝🏾
Excellent video, this valve could be the related cause to edge 2015 2.0 couldnt start engine in the morning just after 2 o 3 times?

Thanks, i have to replace mine. Im thinking about just replacing the selenoid only and leaving the hose
Yea you can it’s possible
I've done that & here I am a year later, my check engine comes on & boom its coming up "purge control valve" issue again.🤦♀️

Helped. You have the model number for this. The one the dealer is trying to sell me has the connections different. They said it’s an updated version
Yea I’m not sure about the updated version

@user-pt5cb8yr3y ok cool I’ll keep that in mind if I have to do another one. Good job on getting it done I know it was a pain.
Alright how did you get your hand down to that top white connection push both them damn tabs and pull it out at the same time
Have to feel for it’s and be willing to mess up your hand a little.

I cant get thr yellow one off the bottom. I cant get under it to lift the tab

Tengo ese problema donde compro esa pieza por favor
Local auto store part number in the video
Where is the link for the part?
Hey man nice video! I did this fix, but it’s still throwing the code… is there also a fuse?
I don’t think it’s another fuse that I’m aware of, did you reconnect all the connectors and clear the code afterwards?

@keithmeline7485 yea hopefully it doesn’t come back, keep me posted
Is it the same for edge 2012
Any luck?
Hey what’s is the name of that part and part number
It’s a purge valve part number is in the video
Cuál era la falla para reemplazar?
Code p1450
VERY GOOD VIDEO. If tour car is somewhat new, you can just but the evap and put a fuel line with clamp on it as a replacement.
Any link to the part ?
No link but the part number is in the video
@@yaboycai9578 just did this job. The bottom plug chewed up my hand. Lol. But it fixed my p0457 code
@exil3dlivecom yea my hand was pretty bad after the job too good work sir🤝🏾
Is this the same on a 2019 edge
I believe so
