Excellent vid! I'm a retired service manager and tech but I still do things for people. Very nice shortcut and saves a pile of cash! Good job Christina!
THANK YOU! I was struggling trying to get the green connector off of the valve, and this was the only video I could find that actually explains how to do it. Popped it right off after watching!
Thanks for the closeup video discription, I was struggling with removing the connector clip from the purge valve , I searched so many videos but none of them showed how to remove this clip , but only yours did , it was so helpful because I was almost give up and breaking that green clip , Thanks a lot ! for the help , I’m from Canada 👍👍👍👍🙏🙏 keep doing what you do , You are the best!!!
These are the videos I love! Clear, concise, and easy to follow. Just had this same code pop this week and now I’m at ease with the solution process. Thanks so much!
By now I'm sure that you have repaired your purge valve assembly but for the benefit of others trying to separate that short piece of hose from the branch tee fitting, one person in another video simply "gently" cut the hose on the branch tee end of that short hose, being very careful not to cut into the fitting itself which would damage it, potentially creating another small leak at that connection. That short hose is heat shrunk at the factory onto the branch tee and the purge valve so after cutting it off, it has to be replaced with a short piece of rubber vacuum hose, (available at any auto parts store) and secured with a small hose clamp at each end to ensure there are no leaks. Ford makes you purchase the entire purge valve assembly with all three hoses attached as part of the assembly, which brings the cost of that part up to around $200.00, just for the part. Add to that, the labor cost to replace the entire assembly, (one end of one of the three hoses is really hard to get at adding to the cost of labor), which easily could exceed $500.00 at most garages, when in fact the only problem 99.99% of the time is the purge valve itself. Thanks for posting your video.
Yes, Of course...what I did was as I went to advanced auto parts and asked for 3/8 inch evac hose and steel hose clamps. I had them cut me about a foot of hose just in case I made a mistake I had extra. I had to use an exact o knife in order to cut the hose off of the purge cannister value then add the hose with the clamps. Hope this helps! Let me know if not and I can create a video with just the hose.
Correct they say Cadillac but it fits both. If you search the part number it comes back to a different vehicle but why was it already in my vehicle in the first place when I just had the engine replaced last year at the dealers?
That hose is heatshrunk on there you have to cut it and splice 3/8 " fuel line hose to it and fit it back together, like they said over a 1000.00 repair job is a 15.00 DIY,250.00 smoke test haha.
@@adrian_gonzalez7116 wont be easy to replace the heat shrunk line from the evap valve heading back towards the under the driver side steering wheel!

You are welcome!
Thank you so much! A proper videp of the 2.0 showing location of the piece. You are a life(and money) saver!
You're welcome! I did have to cut the hose off and get a 3/8in evac hose to connect it but it was simple and very cost effective.
@@ChristinaDavis-fk9wt you just answer my question. Thank you. 😁👍
Worked perfect for my 2015 Ford edge. Used the 3/8" fuel line as the replacement vacuum hose as well. Thx
Do you have a link to where we can purchase the replacement vacuum hose?
yep. bought the part on Amazon for like $14
bought a 5/16 hose at AutoZone. a little too tight but I made it work 🙂
Wow my dealership wants $730 + another $138 to clean... thank you for saving me well over $700.

I just got the same code 73000 miles !!! Thank you great videos I’ll buy it on Amazon then 😮😮

Yes I did use the hose clamps to make sure there was no air leaking. Still no issues since .
Great ViD - Did Amazon part fix your check engine light ??? How long since u replaced part ??
Yes it did. Still works
Did you ever get this hose off ??
What did you do about the hose.
I have the same problem with my 2017 Ford edge. I ordered the part. Can you tell me how did you fix the hose issue? Thanks a lot.

How do I get the valve piece off the hose? I’m seeing comments to cut it, where do I cut it at?
Bit of a silly question really, but you add the 3/8in hose to the purge valve.... where do you put the other end?
Does anyone have yhe Amazon Link they could share for the parts ?
Did it work?
Yes it did.
@@ChristinaDavis-fk9wt I tried it and it worked also for me so thank you so much
Como se llama esa pieza con parte verde

Links wont work for me?

Those part numbers don't state that they are for the 2017 Edge.

have you had to do it again yet? 😏 ford did a number on us

same here. got the part on Amazon. and bought a 5/16 hose by mistake but it still worked
Heat shrunk line needs to be replaced. Not that simple but overall an easy job. Dealers charging $700 to fix are scammers.
Do I need to take the whole shrunk line out? And replace it with the fuel line hose?
