    Good to see the Sharkbite fittings held up. Big difference between sitting still in a house wall and rumbling down the road. Nice to see they survived.

    Our pump does come on mysteriously now and then, especially at night when temperature is dropping. Of course, it's not really a mystery; the air in the surge tank cools and contracts reducing system pressure enough for the pump to come on for a bit. On cold nights this can happen twice. Thanks for the updates.

    Gaskets, you can use cereal boxes and cut out the gasket or parchment paper. Your buddy Badge can give you some shortcuts on that, to transfer the info to your peeps.

    That black stuff inside the water filter is activated charcoal. It "polishes" the water, making it taste good. If you know what i mean. Plus it removes toxins while not stripping out the good minerals and salts. Those toxins are retained in the charcoal tho so make certain you do follow the replacement schedule.
    Those of us with water in the door home fridges should think on how long ago it was that their filters were replaced.

    All good stuff. The only upgrade that you haven't covered is a compressor upgrade on my fridge. Have you considered doing one?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  2 года назад

      You mean swapping out the gas/electric absorption fridge for a 12V compressor fridge? Figured I'd keep running the gas/electric until it has a major failure then maybe get a 12V. It was replaced under warranty after 6 years so not as old as the trailer. The newer gas/electric actually works pretty good much better than the original and saves power when off grid.

    Was wondering if you could do an update on the roof coating you did, curious how it was holding up?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  2 года назад

      Yes, I'm planning on doing an update and recoat this summer. So far, it's performed well. no flaking or peeling. The best part is since the old rubber roof is now covered I don't get nearly as bad of black streaks on the side walls as I use to. The coating can be reapplied over itself, so I'm going to get another gallon and add another coat. Just waiting for a new air conditioner to arrive so I can do it when I swap out the old one and do the roof area under it. Cheers, Ray

      Ray, when you do your roof update video, could you cover Eternabond, Sikaflex, 3M double sided tape etc., tips for application, lifespan etc. I applied Sikaflex 252 then smoothed with denatured alcohol only to find out it affects the curing process, so I had to remove and reapply. Anyway, thanks for sharing your updates with us

      Not sure, if you saw my roof coating video last summer - www.loveyourrv.com/rv-roof-reseal-and-refresh-alpha-systems-top-coat-lap-sealant-and-roofing-tape/ I discussed the roof tape and applied a patch, also laid down some self leveling lap sealant made by Alpha Systems. The last few years I've been trying their various sealant products out with good success other than the roof cleaning spray. I find its pretty weak. Alpha systems used to be mainly a business to business company suppling OEMS but in the last few years they have been selling to consumers using Lippert as a distributor. alphallc.us/products/adhesives-sealants-cleaners/

    Hey Ray, I currently use a Sewer Solutions high-pressure water macerator that works pretty well, but unfortunately, my home water pressure (a well) runs at a low PSI. As such, I occasionally end up with a clogged hose that requires some rather messy "mid-dump" cleaning. Anyway, was just curious about your macerator, b/c if it builds so much pressure so as to blow the end off, kinda' sounds like the right gizmo for me, lol.

      It's pretty powerful, fills my 36 gallon tote up in the back of my truck in about 5 minutes or less. At my sisters place I used a 50 foot 3/4" hose and the rise was about 6 feet and it had no problem. Still great flow.

    I am wondering why you did not use a PPM tester for that water filter. That is the only way to know how clean your water is.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  2 года назад

      Filters like these aren't designed to remove dissolved solids so wouldn't prove anything. Basing overall water quality on (TDS) Total Dissolve Solids PPM readings is sort of a myth. For that you'd need to install some type of Reverse Osmosis System that removes dissolved solids in the water.
      Here is more about TDS testers www.freshwatersystems.com/blogs/blog/should-i-test-my-waters-tds and some previous testing I did myself. www.loveyourrv.com/testing-rv-water-supply-for-total-dissolved-solids/ and ruclips.net/video/kPdmjsoDmDQ/видео.html Cheers, Ray

    Mine stopped mid dump yesterday. Any suggestions as to what i could possibly do to get ‘er goin again ? Yes ive do e the messy part of closing valves and removing to see if anything needed to be retrieved from blade area and there was nothing to remove. I reattached and flushed it ith gray tank a bit to possibly loosen up things and it turned on for a moment then petered out. 😬
    Someone mentioned loosening screw on the bottom of pump caue sometimes hair can get tangled…like you did mention, but i dont see a screw or anything. Added Pic
    Please someone help😫😫

      There is a small cap at the end of the pump that you take off, and a slotted screwdriver adjustment turns the whole mechanism in case it gets jammed up to free up. Also, there is a fuse in the remote control.

      Its hooked up to battery so i don’t think there is a fuse but please correct me if I’m wrong though…im a newbie

      Well the turning didn’t seem to work. I feel like if the pump took a 💩 then it wouldn’t turn on at all right?? I mean since this lil situation,when i do it sounds like it’s struggling and then like isaid it just peters out..how would i know if the drain hose, that runs everything to the septic, has a clog somewhere in it? The pressure built up from nothing being able to go down and out all the way through hose must just cause the macerater to auto shut down for safety precautions..😬. Does this sound like it makes any sense?🤞🏼

      Sounds like the motor isn't getting enough power, maybe the battery is weak or there is a bad connection or the motor is defective.

    Hi Ray you know something is niggling at me with the Eco Flow. If you wanted to use your DC to DC charger to recharge the Eco Flow as you went down the road is there a way to do that? I know the 12 Cigar lighter outlet I think puts 8 AMPs or so into it I think anyway. But can you use the DC to DC charger? Is there a way to rig up another port? Or perhaps are they concerned with selling solar panels. Just thinking for our climate being able to 40.or 60 AMP DC to DC would be a great thing!

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  2 года назад

      What I do is use my existing inverter to charge it with when traveling. I still have my regular bank of RV batteries and they have been powering a 1000W Canadian Tire pure sine inverter for over 11 years now. So using that old inverter I charge the EcoFlow and it in turn powers my RV fridge which draws 390 watts when the electric element is cycled on for cooling. I also usually set the EcoFlow to charge at just 200 watts so the total max draw on my 1000W inverter is 600W. That power is usually recouped by my 1000W roof solar array or the 40 amp DC-DC charger if need be. There are power losses with all the AC-DC-AC conversion going on but usually I'm getting some free solar power anyway.
      I guess a person could hook an inverter up close to the truck batteries then run an AC extension cord back into the trailer and hooked to the EcoFlow. That would be a simple solution to get some higher amp charging while traveling. Just have to make sure the alternator can handle the load.

    • @GaryBoyd02
      @GaryBoyd02 2 года назад +1

      @@LoveYourRV Yes I was thinking of a van and if the Eco Flow was the primary battery of course the way to recharge it would be DC to DC as you drive. Or a motorhome might be the same. There is a gap there it seems.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  2 года назад

      I think the thing that limits the 12V charging is the fact that the lithium battery packs that the majority of these power stations use are around 50 Volts DC.
      So to charge at a high DC current input rate would mean having an internal charger that could handle the higher amperage and do the voltage step-up conversion. I imagine they figure the extra cost and complexity isn't worth having for the low percentage of buyers that would use it.

    • @GaryBoyd02
      @GaryBoyd02 2 года назад +1

      @@LoveYourRV Ah ok I missed that point I was thinking 12 V. Yes you would need an alternator to match or a step up converter cost prohibitive. The reason I got thinking this way was trying to justify the price of the unit. The 4200 dollar one. Then when I thought well you don't have to buy a MPPT controller nor a battery monitor nor an inverter nor a shunt nor several fuses and it was making it look attractive more and more as if your buying Victron that is a fair chunk of change a guy would save and likely would make up nearly 2000 dollars. The new thing I really like is the Growatt Server Rack Battery 400 AH for 799. Excellent deal and great BMS. Have not seen server rack batteries much in Canada yet more so in the US. What I have seen in Canada in batteries is pretty cost prohibitive.
