This is the first time I’m seeing a lot of these characters but I already adore sango
Sango carrying the Horizon series.
Gibeon hasn’t revealed himself, but what we do know is his seiyuu is Shō Hayami! And his performance, top notch!
Definitely the best villainous team in the anime, that's for sure.
Rocket - the trio became too formulaic and Giovanni & the rest didn't get enough screentime
Aqua & Magma - barely utilised in their own series
Galactic - good but also slightly underutilised
Plasma - skipping B&W1 story was such a waste
Flare - pretty epic conclusion but we had to wait too long for them
Skull - just some punks (shouldn't've skipped the story with Lusamine & Guzma from the game)
Yell - wow, just a single episode?
The Explorers get the right amount of screen time and their interactions are fun to watch.
The trio is def the best team, but you are right that it was time to let them go

If I remember correctly a lot of newer fans are stuck in the Pokemon Ash era. For veterans as my self that wanted a new protagonist in a pokemon show this is a blessing.
Same here, when i was younger i had no problems with Ash but looking at what the Writers did to him in XY and Sun and Moon it's been long overdue to have a different Main Protagonist.
(He was at his peak in XY, however the writers spoiled him with that Ash Greninja and i think we all know what's wrong with Ash in Sun and Moon)

The only issue i have with the explorers is a lot of times its unclear why exactly what their doing is bad or evil
Like when they used the resonance speaker thing to summon rayquaza. It doesnt feel like theres inherently anything wrong with that but the main characters react like its some geneva convention breaking shit. And then they go on to fight rayquaza anyway so like idk
