Last pokemon anime people ruined it for me since I normally watch pokemon in English dub so I took a break from watching anything pokemon related. I still have yet to finish Ash's story, but I'm willing to give this one a chance.
I honestly like the main character’s voice in this one (I have not watched the Japanese and I didn’t even know the dub was out. Will give it a watch soon) I know people are saying that she sounds older then she is but people are different and I know that there are a lot of kids the have voices that sound older then they are. Take the singer Ado for example. She had a deep voice as a kid and still does in her late teens
I also feel like it might fit for the greater themes in her character. Like she's clearly the one kid who has to grow up WAY before they're supposed to, so it makes sense in my head that she sounds more mature. Tbf that's like every pokemon protag ever but from the first 6 eps I've seen at least her arc seems to focus more on it specifically.

I watched the dub of what Netflix had so far (not really a sub person), and one of my favorite characters is definitely Friede. I just love his over confident attitude and his relationship with Captain is just so fun, plus the voice is so fun, think the voice actor did a great job on this character. I get why we had to have another Pikachu trainer, since Pikachu is the mascot, and I just like how different Friede and Cap are from Ash and Pikachu. Even their moves are different, with Cap having Double Team and Thunder Punch, which are completely unique from Ash's Pikachu, and even Volt Tackle feels unique since Ash hasn't used that move in a LONG TIME. It would have been way too easy to turn Friede and Cap, into a copy of Ash and Pikachu, and I am just so glad they didn't.

I like the voices for the dub. I imagined Friede would've had a more of a high pitch voice but his voice sounds good. I always loved ash but I could never really stand how they made his voice sound girly, Especially in his later seasons like from Gen 6 to Gen 8.

The fact that Lisa Ortiz is still directing this dub makes me happy. I think what happened with Journey’s dub is that the studio themselves pitched up the voices too much. But they definitely fixed that issue with this dub
