The batch release method absolutely murdered the anime adaptation of Stone Ocean. A shame to see Netflix is trying drive other series into the ground as well.
Stone Ocean had it worse because it premiered on Netflix with batch releases and then did weekly episodes on tv. Pokémon is at least weekly first in Japan and then batch releases in US. But yeah, Stone Ocean just shows the absolute worst it can get and why it kills hype.
I swear tho I missed the most of the journeys series
@@GatorEX As a massive JoJo's fan and a veteran of the "Great Stone Ocean Drought", I remember all too well just how horrid that was, and to wait nine months for the Ultra Security Ward fights up to the Green Baby arc, and all that just to get the Bohemian Rhspsody fight up to the end in a third of that wait was wild.
TL;DR, Netflix is ass
@@sephyyyboi yes that is true
I can’t imagine Yugioh being next on their kill list
I never understood Netflix jail. Wouldn't weekly releases force people to maintain their subscriptions? It just seems like a bad business model.
A lot of companies are struggling to keep their streaming service afloat, and keep trying to release a ton of series at once, when they really just need to release them weekly.
@@skymario1012 If for nothing else than to get people talking about individual episodes and build up hype as the season continues. Word of mouth counts for so much and when you’re dropping a season at once it stays in conversation shorter even for big shows like Stranger Things and Squid Game.
@@jbcatz5yes and that’s done wonders for Disney+
Convenience
I also find it that big companies like Netflix are being too prideful and won't listen to their audience but think they know what their audience wants.
It's so disappointing to see that they probably have a bunch of episodes done but most likely won't even show all of the ones they worked on when it finally comes to Netflix. Let me be clear, dubbing takes time and effort, but getting the first few episodes officially dubbed 10 months after the initial airing is near unacceptable in this day and age.
Exactly!
Pokemon has always held itself to a higher standard hence why they've got the best dub + there are probably more limitations since they have to deal with big awful companies since its Pokemon. Don't see the problem, it'll come when it comes.
@@natalimoina I wish they held themselves to a higher standard Gaming whise.
@@littlefox_100they do their approach is just unique in the music and lore and writing etc also it’s not relevant to the situation
Calling the Pokémon games lazy has gotten lazy they aren’t lazy they just have a smaller budget and have more restrictions than most dev teams
Can’t believe you still care about that frame stuff
I’m sorry you got so lost and brainwashed by the superficialities of the industry you forgot what Pokémon was originally about
And I know that the game isn’t perfect and that there’s issues
Pokémon is a franchise where the theme is friendship is magic and meeting cute and cool unique monsters
What the hell does graphics and performance have to do with those things?
Nothing if you wanna criticize a franchise criticize it on whether or not it delivered on the messages and themes it promised
Was friendship magic?
Did you meet cute and cool unique creatures?
Ok then it’s a good game
Those are what’s important to Pokémon
As the og theme said
Pokémon is about
Oh your my best friend in a world we must defend
I will travel across the land searching far and wide each pokemon to understand the power that’s inside
Our hearts so true our courage will pull us through
you teach me and I teach you”
That’s what it is about and that’s what it will always be about and if that’s what it continues to be about until the end
Then that’s a strong enough ending for me
Not sure what graphics and animation and performance has to do with that
Performance graphics those things never Mattered
You have to remember pokemon games have only been 3D since 2013 that’s pretty recent compared to other games like Zelda that have been 3D since the 90s and early 2000s so obviously they’re gonna be behind Mixed with the fact that They can’t delay the game because main console for only 5 years compared to Zelda since n64

it’s not outdated it’s rebellious and nonconformist
They choose to live in their own bubble and be one of a kind and not imitate what everyone else does and they have my respect for that
the lore and the stories surrounding the legendaries are unique no other series has that stuff it’s special
Voice acting has become overused it’s not special anymore not including voice acting makes the series more unique and stand out more and be different
If they added voice acting it would lose what makes it special and be blended in with every other rpg

Generation 9 in a nutshell.
I was honestly hoping that the Pokemon dub would return to Cartoon Network. Releasing episodes weekly is just so much better than dumping 12 episodes at once and then waiting 7 months for the next batch.
Cartoon Network has been having too many problems with cutting corners with a Latino Spanish dub (which would happen if the English dub airs on Cartoon Network) so it looks pretty doubtful that it's going to be on Cartoon Network again after they cut too many corners related to a few of the English dubbed Pokémon movies.
I’m surprised the Latino Dub would have ANY EFFECT, considering how TPCi gives zero fucks about the Latino Pokémon fans
As much as that'd be nice, I highly doubt it's coming back to Cartoon Network, given their new direction as far as content.
@@m4rshy459 maybe a Cartoon Network that's in a different language is still possible though.
@@Ozzy_08x that's true
What seems really weird to me is that they actually have an app in the Nintendo switch made specifically as an official way to watch some of the Pokémon series and movies, but they either don't use it or take a long time to put the new episodes in.
I use it more to watch the old series.
If they had ALL the episodes, I would 100% use it instead of pirating the ones they don’t have. Like they skipped over XY and advance, come tf on Pokémon!

there really isn't any excuse for Netflix to not have released the dub months ago, and to do those releases weekly, but since Netflix isn't really interested in something like this, this doesn't come as much of a surprise.
They did it for some shows like Komi Can’t Communicate/Komi-san, so why can’t they start doing it with other shows?
Netflix is anti-animation atp
@@davidspraguedragonman6479 but then they went on hiatus after a few episodes, then came back for more weekly episodes, then went on hiatus again, then just realised the last bunch of episodes all at once.

I think Liko’s voice is fine and Roy kind of sounds like a mix of Goh and Ash
Liko's voice in Japanese is a lot less timid and is lower pitched. She's clearly not 100% confident but doesn't come off as cartoonishly shy. In English she's a stuttering whispering mousy mess. It's like a whole different character.
@@ZebraLuvIt’s probably the voice actor trying too hard. Personally, I’m fine with it. I noticed a slight improvement over the first 6 dub episodes I watched.

I've been watching subbed since day 1 anyway. Nyahoja has overridden Sprigatito in my brain at this point. Though i get the issue on the business side of things and for the younguns that have no choice but wait for the official, this long wait is very odd.
Also damn, thanks for reminding me Disney was the English home of Pokemon anime at some point. I was there when the transition from WB Kids to Cartoon Network happened, so waking up one day in my adulthood to hear "Yeah it's on Disney XD now" was like walking in an alternate universe. Same thing when Disney was the place the English dub of Naruto Shippuden aired for a bit early on after all those years watching part 1 on Toonami...
In the uk, it's CITV, ITV had pokemon since it first started duing 1998
omg same..got impatient for the dub so I’ve been watching the Japanese version and the names are really sticking lol, I prefer some of them!
@@testerwulf3357why people didn't like japanese name anyway ? sound great with japanese voice actor performance
cubone is karakara in japanese version karakara means crazycrazy in kurdish.
I got the same experience when Gen 6's XY&Z anime was still airing. I could never call Greninja its English name ever again and always called it Gekkouga because the Japanese source material was so much more superior in quality than the dub.
Talonflame was called Fiarrow in the Japanese version, a combination of the words "Fire" and "Arrow" which sounded way better than its English localized name.
That's not even taking into account the music. The soundtrack in the Japanese airing was so amazing that it affects you emotionally whether it's getting you to ship Satoshi and Serena, making you sad when something happens to a character, or getting you Hyped when Gekkouga battles.
By the time the dub airs, you realize how inferior it is to its Japanese counterpart, such as using their own generic music so they don't have to pay royalties to the Japanese composers who made the soundtrack for the Japanese airing.
They should just release all their content on Pokemon TV. I'd love to pay $5 a month or so for access to all their stuff. I don't watch the live tournaments, but they can post all of those on there too as well as all the shorts they've ever made. I think that would be a good price!
Especially subbed older seasons, they can be difficult to find for the mid 2000s stuff
3:30 In Southeast Asia where I live, episodes of the Pokemon anime are being released on RUclips on official channels for their respective countries/languages. The English channel ("Pokemon Asia ENG", idk if it's completely region-locked) is not fully up-to-date yet, and episodes of different seasons are still being uploaded (some episodes in between might be missing too). As of now on the channel:
- DP: Full seasons available
- XY: Currently only up to XY134 (the one where Clembot dies, during Lysandre's invasion after the Ash vs Alain fight)
- Journeys: Only the 1st 5 episodes of "Journeys", and JN133-144 of Ultimate Journeys. 122 other episodes are hidden though. But Netflix in SEA does have all the Journeys stuff I think
BW is unavailable online, presumably because this aired on Disney XD in SEA. And the "Ultra Adventures" season of SM (SM44-91) is on a separate 3rd party yt channel for the Malaysian animation company "Monsta", but is missing some episodes. (Though I think all of SM is also on Netflix)
As you can see, releases are super complicated lol
I think the channel is completely region locked. I showed the channel to a person who lives in the west and they were unable to access.
Also the Journeys thing is only the first 5 and most recent 5 episodes. And they are reaching the end of both of these. I've always asked there as to what they will do when no more journeys and no more XY.
Ive been trying to watch it! 😢sadly i cant view it…

the weird part of this is that the series is supposed to hype up this terapagos mystery that we'll already have by the time episode 1 already comes out thanks to the dlc. always funny to hear people say that the pokemon games need to be rushed out to line up when the anime and the cards when even those aren't ready for the annual releases.
12/27/23 edit: ok nvm we didn't learn shit lmao time for another xyz situation where the anime has to teach us everything yay

They did… in japan releases…
2 days ago my mom and I went to an event at a library, and I just kinda stayed at the library and read the 2nd volume of the Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal Manga while she was having fun with whatever it was.
Well imagine my surprise when the mother-in-law of Liko's voice actor was there. As in she was saying "my daughter in law is playing as the main character of the new Pokemon series" and I was having trouble processing that because it's animated. So yeah that was definitely the most randomly thing I've ever had happen to me lmao.
Also the clothes she was wearing kinda reminded me of the Uva Academy version of Clavell's outfit.
Thanks for reading this. I have no clue if anyone would even believe me, and I'll be honest and just say it was the experience of all time.
Purely out of curiosity, is was it the English or Japanese voice actor (for all I know, you could be in/from Japan and just so happen to understand both languages very well)?
@@scottvgamer1163 English. But still was crazy nonetheless
@@Mimiyan_or_Pikapikafan yeah, I can only imagine.
Funny that you brought up the yugioh zexal manga. I've been trying to get into it since I'm a fan of the anime but my library has every volume but #3, so I can only read up to #2 😢
Imagine having 160 hours of work being put hostage because some company wants to schedule it how they want, which is the worst way possible. But like hey, they gotta make room to revive big mouth! Cuz clearly everyone cares about that!
Honestly I feel bad this generation and my little brother's generation of kids (2007-2008) who didn't grow up with cable or grew up at the tail end of it. There was something special about all of us watching the same episode at the same time together, now every is so archaic and random on streaming. No 2 HOUSEHOLDS MAY HAVE THE STREAMING OPTIONS. That's to say some kids may grow up without Pokemon simply because they didn't opt into netflix. BRING IT BACK !
I feel bad for this generation that don't get to enjoy an era where creating animated cartoons was both an art and a passion... instead of a capitalist business.
I’m born in 2008 and loved watching cable in 2013-15 when it was slowly starting to die out, and I agree full heartedly!
@@GhostGuy99 There's literally nothing stopping them from watching cartoons, old or new. And bad shows existed in the past too, but were completely forgotten about because the Internet was barely a thing back then
Well fortunately the first six episodes of the dub have been shown in the UK, for free, so I was able to enjoy them.
They have been dropped on a pokemon site as well, so it is easy to see in the US if you know where to see them.
I live in Australia, and despite Journeys being released in batches in other countries, I unfortunately ended up having to wait until each season finished airing weekly on television for it to release on Netflix in my country.
OMG I LIVE IN AUSTRALIA TOO I HAD TO WAIT TOO IT SUCKED I wanted to see ash become champ lol
I think it’s time that Pokémon company finds another channel to broadcast the dub episodes one by one, releasing the dub one by one will be easier than an entire batch release, at least it’s on BBC uk early, even if I am not from there.
I have no words…
We won't know how this will affect Horizons viewership until the dub releases in most of the world. But I guess Journeys did well enough on Netflix for the Pokémon Company to decide to do the same thing again with Horizons.
So far in Japan, Horizons is doing really well even becoming the number one anime during the summer, and even beating Bleach in ratings. I don't know how well Horizons will do in the rest of the world because of it's long and dumb release schedule. But hey I'll watch it because it takes way too much effort to say up to date on the sub.
Honestly I'll just keep watching the subs because the dubbed version on my country is a bit...💀
Also because it's going to take like 2 years for it to get to episode 40 which is just fun.
I can relate.
I just wish we’d finally get official subs
Guess Pokémon is destined to be 🏴☠️ life for me 🤷🏻♀️
Canada STILL hasn't finished ash's run, we're never getting horizons
Edit: Wow It was just added recently I had no idea lol
Canada was the first place to finish Ash's run in the dub. We'll be getting Horizons in March.
where is it? Netflix?
That's okay. They probably had to contract new cast. And good thing they'll release it for several localizations at once, for a big time premiere. I don't mind that they're later than usual this time.
For how big Pokemon is, it always amaze me how hard is to encounter episodes in original japanese. You'd think that the original 80 ep would be easy but nope, many fans haven't heard Mezase Pokemon Master ever, the original opening theme. Multiple endings, performances, lost insert songs, those old edits and must fun of all the true name of the titular pocket monsters.
You can find all of that in basic anime pirate websites lol. It’s not hard to
Pokémon always takes so long to get dubbed💀🙏
So does every anime for that matter that's why Crunchyroll should let people watch the subtitles version
@@PsychicJaylennaw dubs come fast
@@PsychicJaylen What do you mean? Dubs have come out much faster for other anime.
@@PsychicJaylenBruh. Spy X Family is 4 episodes behind Japan. So was Attack On Titan when season 4 first began. I also remember only having to wait a few weeks for the English dub of Bleach: The Thousand Year Blood War. Pokémon is behind the times.
And Pokémon is bigger than any of these animes. It is a whole, freaking franchise, that rivals Marvel and Star Wars! So it’s not like they don’t have the manpower to get the English dub out fast.
Man take a look at Youkai Watch 3, that took 5 YEARS for that game to be released in North America. 💀
I haven't watched the anime in YEARS, never had cable, not paying for streaming. I do find it weird they don't just make a paid version for new stuff on the Pokemon anime app they have.
Technically they do with netflix they probably want kids to watch their content for free on pokemon tv
Don’t mind it coming out so late as it’s understandable it needs to be dubbed not only in English but whatever other languages it’s available in but definitely agree that the “batch” method isn’t the best. It’s odd too since Netflix have done the weekly releases for anime’s like Komi, why can’t they do the same for Pokémon?
So...fun fact
This is the first Pokemon Dub to be unionized
...there was also a big actors strike going on recently. While the strike was specifically NOT about dubbing acting. It's possible production was delayed even at the script writing level, but I'm not sure where translation scripting falls in the writer's union.
It's also possible this is why the bbcplayer only got 6 episodes. That could possibly be all that's dubbed right now and netflix usually likes their 12 episode batches for pokemon.
I know it sounds like I'm coping a bit, but it is weird that its been such a long wait considering that Journey's was also a Netflix production and had some of the shortest waits we've seen for the dubs.
Do note, I'm not fully justifying everything here.
I still HATE the batch release method over a more weekly release.
Well, as long as more episodes of Pokémon Horizons are fully dubbed, they might be released on BBC IPlayer as well.
The Guy: "Most teen and older fans know where to watch the illegal anime."
Me: "...yeah but just to confirm where would that be exactly?"
Netflix has absolutely butchered Pokémon, the English dubs episode took months to come out and it was near impossible to avoid spoilers during Journeys, seriously, other anime like Vinland Saga had weekly releases on Netflix, why couldn’t Pokémon?
I just got reminded of when the Gen 5 games and anime were going to release in 2011 I then decided I was going to catch up on all the anime in anticipation of them. I then watched all the TV, movie and various other bits of the anime like the Pikachu shorts that come with the movies in a few months and had caught up with everything before the games came out. I just decided I was going to watch all that and hopped online to find them all.
Me. I’m the adult fan waiting for the official release. The fact that the anime for generation 9 will be officially released in the US after the generation’s 2nd DLC is insane. I loved watching the Sun and Moon anime regularly. It did a lot to keep the franchise in the forefront of my mind, and it endeared me to Alola as a region. Journeys, especially through batching, just did not do that for me.
I also enjoy Digimon. It has a problem of keeping an anime going consistently, but there was a beautiful period where I was watching a new Digimon episode practically every week. And again, it does a good job keeping the franchise in the forefront of my mind. It’s a shame Pokémon isn’t doing that any more.
Digimon ghost game was the first Digimon series where I watched an episode as it was airing (from episode 3 to the end). It was great!
ik 10 year olds are the target demographic for pokemon, but I almost never meet a kid whos invested into pokemon anymore, every person that I've ever met that is super into pokemon is not a child in the slightest its honestly pretty crazy
I have a feeling the anime might die as marketing platform for the franchise.
I felt this way about the end of pokemon journeys. I'd watch the dub with my girlfriend on Netflix and every single important moment was either spoiled or straight up shown off officially months to a whole year before netflix would show it. Still haven't watched the Ash anime finale because after a whole year of them holding off everything got spoiled.
Japan is always ahead of everyone with Pokémon because they don’t cast it at the same time like HZ is on ep 34 while the UK is on ep 6 right now and if your on RUclips or X you are going to get spoiled. I don’t understand why they wait so long to let others dub Pokémon.
Pokemon already has their own streaming app. Why not just post the episodes there?
It's worse for non cable havers in Canada since pokemon still airs on tv on teletoon so we have to wait way longer for Netflix to get the episodes. And when we do finally get them on Netflix it's a long time after the US did and with no fanfare or announcement that it's coming out.
Like I get it's because of distribution rights but it's still really annoying.
Same here in the Netherlands. Only here it’s Nickelodeon that’s holding Pokémon hostage. But we too just randomly got all journeys episodes one day on Netflix with no prior announcement whatsoever.
they really just released info on terapagos in the anime before the indigo dlc came out
No not disney+, not after what they did to summertime rendering
couldn’t they use hulu? I remember Sun & Moon Ultra Legends being on hulu and adding episodes every week or so.
Hulu and Disney are connected. They only have Gen 6 on there rn though
The Binge model is also exclusive to the US.
This reminds me of when Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V came out, it took over a year for the dubbed to come out...in Canada. Its like recently Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! just doesn't care for the dubs as much anymore
id pay like a 7.99 subscription to pokemon tv if they had there entire backlog of shows, movies, spin offs and weekly uploads of the new anime

seriously, i can’t understand why studios w o u l d n ‘ t want to use an extremely widespread source of media like youtube. what are the downsides?
The thing is that netflix has in the past done series where they drop a new episode every week so they could actually if they wanted to do exactly what we fans want them to do.
Honastly they should just post it all on their own side (on time) and then just pop in a few ads before and after the episode so they still earn money and every fan is happy.
While I liked the VAs’ performances in Horizons’ dub, there are still tons of problems like cutting multiple shots, slowing down the animation for several scenes, and Ed Goldfarb once again ruining the OST.
I mean, I’ve been less critical on his scores ever since SM & I still like his fanfares ( plus I’m more mad at TPCI’s handling of the scores than I am at Goldfarb himself since he’s just doing his job), but his music for the battles intenses/action-packed moments still don’t fit with the scenes

weird, it's normally CITV who hosts pokemon in the uk
Yea, I think Pokemon should just post it onto RUclips, both Japanese and English and any other language option is available regardless of region totally for free. I'm not a parent or anything, but RUclips is in need of content that isn't a lot of negative or really lazy harmful content for all ages and streaming services are kinda overwhelming now with how many you need to get if you like different shows or movies.
Pokemon could totally do this since it's literally Pokemon and it would get a ton of views, so I don't think money should be an issue. They could even do really fun watch parties or something if they could moderate the chat well enough.
I was hoping new horizons being “new gen” for the main Pokémon anime (since ash and co retired) in an era where anime outside of Japan is a lot more mainstream than the past would lead to us *finally* getting official subbed content in the original Japanese but I guess not OTL
Flap jacks use lol
Literally any other method is better than Netflix's one.
I HATE the music, it makes the dub unwatchable for me and it's been that way since XY
The first 6 episodes of Horizons dubbed are on Iplayer now....
The batch release is even worse with Pokémon than other shows tbh. Kids are gonna prolly forget in the 3 months waiting for episodes
Pokemon on Disney Plus would be amazing.
So glad I started watching the Japanese version during the last stretch of the DP series because it's so much better! From the voice acting to the music choices.
The English dub always felt like store brand cereal ever since...
Lol that analogy though
It’s really a shame we still don’t get official subs to this day
Especially because New Horizons was a fresh start with Ash & Co retiring AND the fact that anime is much more popular and mainstream outside of Japan in the recent years compared to back then
Most anime nowadays will usually be available in both English etc dub AND og Japanese w/subs by default
But not Pokémon…..
Literally the greatest Eng dub ever made, incredible on all fronts and makes the original look like trash
My guess for Pokemon Horizons' first batch of english dub episodes being released on Netflix this February...
I think they would release about 12 or 16 episodes.
I'm not watchng it on netflix, or anywhere for that matter.
Even Slowpoke would be exasperated by now
Like we're gettint freaking Terapagos lore thru the Japanese version and only the Japanese version!!!
Im from the future IT"S BEEN DEALAYED AGAIN!!!!
Now it makes sense why people knew more about this than me lol. 😂
If I could find subs of the Pokemon anime at age 11 roughly 10 years ago, I'm sure a 10 year old today is more than capable of finding it with subs if they really wanted to.
Anyways, I do wonder why they decided to move to Netflix from Disney. Maybe it was a contract thing?
The dub has for me, been terrible since Diamond and Pearl ended. I watched Black and White in Japanese and didn’t go back. It feels so soulless. Watching XY dubbed just feels off. So much gets changed that it’s borderline unwatchable for me. When Ash-Greninja’s theme starts, you get hyped, yet in the dub they changed it to this awful flowery song that has no excitement. I seriously don’t get why they change the music, it makes no sense to me. Hell even the announcers just sound flat when in the sub they’re screaming as if it was a sporting event.
They also got rid of all the cool Japanese text for the Z Moves and that just feels so off. Like if they replaced it with the English names even that would have been fine. Even the intros suck, everything just feels so emotionless, like it was dubbed for the sake of being dubbed. And Netflix doesn’t make it any better either, sitting on episodes and making people wait until it fits their schedule. Whenever a friend wants to watch it, I always discourage them from watching it dubbed and just tell them where to find the sub, they’ve enjoyed it way more.
It's literally the best dub ever, improves so so much from the original Japanese that looks awful in comparison
@@natalimoina now I know without a doubt you’ve never watched Pokemon Subbed. No one and I mean no one, likes the dub and if they do, it’s because it’s all they have to watch. Dubbed Pokémon has been soulless since Black and White.
@@Cosmic_Espeon Nah, this is wrong, once again, it's literally the best dub ever, it's got more personality out there than any dub, Japanese version is generally fine on its own (although Meowth's voice kinda gives me a headache), but looks really weak in comparison
@@natalimoina bruh it isn’t. There’s hardly any emotion in the American dub. The voice of Ash is fine, she’s no Veronica Taylor but she’s fine, same with Dawn and Brock, even Clemont and Bonnie. Serena and Lillie are awful to listen to, same for several other characters. The announcers sound so flat and dead when the League is supposed to be an important event on the same level as FIFA. And that’s just the voice work.
Everything else, from the musical direction to the animation is garbage. They didn’t need to change the music and they didn’t need to get rid of the cool Z-Move names either, the scenes look flat and dead and unexciting. Try watching Ash vs Sawyer in Japanese and then in English, it is grossly different.
But hell, why do I even waste my time? This is my last response. Feel free to like the dub but it is garbage compared to the original.
@@Cosmic_Espeon Flat out wrong, the dub is seeping with emotion, way more than the Japanese version. Every single voice in the dub is magnificent and delivers in every way. Lillie is one of the best voice performances out there. Serena, the announcer and everyone else are fantastic too. You're completely wrong. Japanese voice work looks mediocre in comparison.
Musical direction is wonderful, animation is also wonderful, but has nothing to do with the dub lol what. Changing the music was a good change, so is removing the Japanese letters. Yep, I have, Ash vs. Sawyer is grossly superior in English, just like every other scene.
Anyway, dub remains supreme as always. Keep watching your mid Japanese dub with its many p*do comments and headache inducing voices.
While this is a massive problem there's something else I feel like we should keep in mind and it's also a problem.
The Soundtrack.
Honestly ever since the end of the Black and White Pokémon Anime was the last instance where we actually received a majority of the music used in the original Japanese version such as battle themes from the games the anime takes after but for whatever reason a majority of the beautifully composed and created music from X and Y onwards has never been used in English releases and likewise you can bet had never made it to other translated and dubbed versions. Like seriously the BIGGEST OFFENSE WAS THE SUN AND MOON ANIME JUST HAVING THE SAME CHEERY XYLOPHONES AND FLUTES PLAYING IN MOMENTS WHERE SOME OF THE DEEPEST OR MOST EMOTIONAL SCENES WERE LIKE WITH THE ENTIRE AETHER FAMILY ARCH! Or let's not forget that EVERY BATTLE WITH ASH AGAINST GLADION HAD GLADION'S BATTLE THEME PERFECTLY ORCHADTRATED BUT WAS REPLACED WITH THE EXACT SAME THREE BATTLE THEMES ALREADY USED FOR EVERYTHING! Not to mention shorter scenes like the Ulta Guardians at the Alter of the Sunne had the actual music from the games adapted and where breathtaking but in the English dub and outside of the original Japanese versions they'd just use filler sound effects or themes from previous series which don't fit or belong. Like what happened to the music from the Sinnoh amime being as widely different and covering as many different themes from the respective games? You cannot tel me battling against Dusk Mane Necrozma and when Ultra Necrozma appearing on screen as Ash and Gladion unleash the signature Z-Moves could possibly need the generic trainer battle theme when meanwhile in the Japanese Version LIGHT THAT BURNS THE SKY PLAYS BRINGING BACK CYNTHIA LEVEL FLASHBACKS TO THOSE OF US WHO WERE COMPLETELY CAUGHT OFF GUARD AND HAD MANY OF OUR TEAMS WIPED OUT AND NUZLOCKS KILLED BEING NUKED FROM ORBIT IN OUR OWN PLAYTHROUGHS OF THE ULTRA SUN AND ULTRA MOON GAMES!
Also the final battle were ASH WAS THE CHAMPION AND BATTLED TO DEFEND HIS TITAL AGAINST PROFESSOR KUKUI IN THE FIRST EVER MULTI PART BATTLE OVER THE COURSE OF THREE EPISODES SINCE ASH AND PAUL'S FINAL BATTLE IN THE SINNOH LEAGUE HAD THE ANIME VERSION OF "BATTLE OF THE SUMMIT" FROM THE ORIGINAL SUN AND MOON GAMES WHICH IS PROBABLY THE BEST CHAMPION BATTLE THEME EVER BECAUSE IT'S YOUR'S AND YOU ARE THE CHAMPION OF YOUR OWN POKÉMON LEAGUE! You can just take away the music used in the new longest multiple episode battle at the time which stretched across 4 WHOLE EPISODES! That's beating the record of the Ash snd Paul's final battle which also had amazing soundtrack and music with EVEN HAVING A FULL ON SONG WITH LYRICS THAT NEVER APPEARS ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE ANIME SUNG BY THE PEOPLE SINGING THE OPENING THEMES OF THAT SERIES! You are not allowed to just say "Totem Pokémon BUILDUP snd not even the battle theme which is already incredibly repetitive" that's what we will use for this FOUR PART EPISODE BATTLE THAT ALREADY HAS IT'S OWN MUSICAL SCORE THAT WILL NEVER BE USED AGAIN!
And on top of that, as if all that weren't enough of an insult, the Alola Anime was THE LAST TIME THE ORIGINAL COMPOSER FOR THE ENTIRE POKÉMON ANIME UP TO THAT POINT WOULD BE INVOLVED BEFORE HE RETIRED! You can't just tell me "oh yeah, all of his FINAL work including the Ultra Beast Battle Theme, Gladion's Battle Theme, Lillies Emotions theme, BATTLE OF THE SUMMIT, yeah no those things will NEVER be heard by anyone outside of Japan and that music will be forever locked away for no one to ever even know it EXISTS!"
You cannot do that, it's just so INCREDIBLY DISRESPECTFUL AND BLATANTLY OUTRIGHT STUPID AND SHOWING COMPLETE DISREGARD TO THE EFFORTS THAT SO MANY PEOPLE PUT ALL THEIR TIME, ENERGY, HEART AND SOUL INTO CREATIMG FOR PEOPLE TO EXPIRIANCE AMD ENJOY!!!
I don't know WHAT was going on with Disney at the time but while the scheduled airing was consistent THIS, this was somebody's doing and it was a complete disservice to the Pokémon anime and the same thing happened with the Kalos Anime back when Cartoon Network was still the one to release the English Dub. And ince again with Netflix, Pokémon Journeys kept making the EXACT SAME MISTAKE!
Honestly in my opinion and many others because I KNOW I'm not alone in thinking this and have seen how many people are disappointed and in disbelief about this issue, if it takes Netflix a whole year to release the BRAND NEW POKÉMON ANIME THAT NO LONGER HAS THE SAME MAIN PROTAGONISTS AS THE ANIME ALWAYS HAS HAD FOR IT'S OVER 25 YEARS OF EXISTENCE or even more than a year to release this brand new and only fresh star the Pokémon anime will get just having THE CORRECT AND COMPLETE SOUNDTRACK, then I honestly couldn't care less if it's delayed for however long it takes just so long as they do it RIGHT and do the Pokémon amime justice. But if you're telling me that you're just going to have the same thing as the past series had BUTCHERED ONCE AGAIN I will actually beyond pissed and so will a good amount of the community of the Pokémon franchise and certainly the anime, regardless of age or whatever, because this is purely negligence at this point and it's the Pokémon company and actual people in charge of yhe anime from the very top and in japan who are choosing to time after time over and over and over again make the same decisions that lead to their own tv shows detriment.
And let me tell you, I am 23 years old and mature and patient enough to constantly continuously approach this whole matter objectively giving every bit of credit and praise I possibly can in large part because I grew up with the Fifth Generation of Pokémon and started my journey with the franchise with Black Version and I know by heart the lesson it taight me that the world is not Black and White, never has been, never will be.
But take one good look at some of the people in the Pokémon fanbase and community like the pitch black stain on the Pokémon AND Furry fandoms like verlisify over there and tell me "Wow, these people will totally understand and be even more patient or tolerant with us and our actions."
Because if you seriously believe that then the whole National Dex Fiasco that happened just 3 years ago will seem like timid, tame, CHILD'S PLAY compared to the amount of toxicity and destructive negative behavior and feedback the entire Pokémon community is going to have to endure and that WILL drive away a lot of people from ever wanting to be involved in this community or franchise because it has such a bad rap at that point and is too controversial or deemed harmful. Keep in mind also Kids don't exactly have a clue as to what's going on or how people react or behave in these situations, including themselves, they're just kids and need to be able to ENJOY their innocence and life while they still can and are young.
I'm not sorry for bringing this topic up because I know I'm the one being all doom and gloom over here and I don't mean the Pokémon, but this has to be addressed before it even has a chance of getting out of hand. And you all know it too. Those of you right here smart and reasonable to realize that. Imagine the problems of the anime right now including the subject of it's soundtrack combined with the whole mess of the release and current glitch, error and game crashing state of the current video games Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Combine that with the whole actual scandals at official sponsored and hosted Competitive Pokémon events for the trading card game and video game tournaments with actual 12 year olds being disqualified by staff who shouldn't have passed screening and are left STRANDED in entire different parts of THE COUNTRY! Can you you possibly imagine a worse culmination of events that could leas to a serious major problem that no one will forget and will mark Pokémon as infamous alongside it? We REALLY don't need this and can't afford to let something like this happen.
It’s already on BBCIPlayer it came here on the first of December here in the United Kingdom.
Wait the season isn’t on TV?!
Not yet maybe in the UK though.
Pokemon!
So strange not to see Ash here!
Kinda odd how he disappeared!
Pokemon!
Ohh, but it ain't lame...
Still the same, exact same game!
Pokemon!
(Gotta catch em all) Even now;
The series is strong somehow
Ash taught us and we'll teach you
Po-key-mon!!
Gotta catch em all
Gotta catch em all!
Pokemon!
The criticizing theorists in me wonder if this may imply something on why The Pokemon Company never release any DVDs containing the original Japanese audio subtitles. A shame that we never answer why.
In my opinion I would say Viz Media should have the rights to have rights to both home video rights and series other than The Pokemon Company international.
fun fact, currently on BBCIplayer in the UK, the first 6 eps of the dub are on there!
I once again need to mention the Charmander that sounds like it’s drowning
Hopefully it taking longer means we more than 12 episodes at a time
Now we see the consequences of giving up cable for streaming.
Set to locally premiere from Pokémon Day, Feb 27th on 9Go! down here.
Problem with Disney + is that the service is usually like 1-2 years behind on kids shows for places outside the NA. Would be even longer wait for international fans.
I don’t trust Disney handling *anything* considering how absolutely atrocious and evil Disney is as a corporation now and I already despise them enough, so Netflix would be the lesser of two evils if anything. Disney would butcher the shit out of the show. I’m not sure how butchered the dub is going to be, so I would rather stick with the original Japanese version, as usual with anime because of how much of a slimy deceptive snake western localizers can truly be.
I agree batch releases are annoying, but where else are you going to find a long lasting series? Disney only does short things now for streaming. Paramount has nothing related to anime. HBO got rid of nearly all their anime. Amazon barely has anything. Apple, thousands don't have. There is no where else that it would do well at. I've also spoken to people about Disney+ getting pokemon and people have absolutely hated the idea. It is what I'd do, but Disney just does not keep things for long. It is like they get 3 or 4 seasons of something and then ditch it.
As much as I want to watch it now, I’m okay with waiting for the dub because I genuinely enjoy it way more than sub!
Cant wait for the Gen 10 pokemon anime to end before horizon dub finishes
Actually i've been pirating since I was six. It was an... acquired skill
i would want to watch the dubs but i have no idea where to look or go to listen to any
It has been annoying to keep up with Pokemon Horizons, but I'd rather deal with what I have than have to wait until february to be like 30-40 episodes behind.
if its an international release, never bet on Netflix!!!
I wonder how many episodes there will be coming out at the start. Well it needs to be a common site. They should take a long break, to work on episodes and translations. It’s great for an audience to watch something in there local language. Pokémon tv is way behind. They could use someone older to help them.
I wish that anime episodes released at around the same time globally, like how the games do
Be grateful you guys are getting a dub in the first year. We just got ultimate journeys here in UAE
