I love how technically “Noel’s lament” was a ballad and “the ballad of Jane doe” was technically a Lament 💃🏽
Actually ballads tend to be slower, and not loud, so Noel’s lament is not a ballad

ballads are slow as they originate from folk and country music and they tell a story while laments express the singers' grief or mourning.

@@adz6043 Yeah but I think the whole point is the title was what they wanted, not what it was. Janes was a lament cuz she was expressing the pain that came with not knowing who she was. Noel's was a ballad cuz he was telling the story of what he'd have done as Monique. But all Noel wanted was a life of pain and tragedy. All Jane wanted was a story to tell.
