- Hello everyone! This week I sang a cover of Meant To Be Yours from Heathers: The Musical!
I watched the Heathers proshot last week (pssst it's free to stream on Roku if you want to watch it) and GOD it was good. Make sure you all say thank you to Mr. Lin Manuel Miranda for releasing the proshot of Hamilton and creating a ripple effect so now other streaming services are releasing more professionally recorded musicals.

The last line “Still, I will if I must!” is always so chilling and unexpected to me after the previous line “I can’t do this alone”, even when I know it’s coming.

It's just the way it makes it so clear how JD is trying to manipulate her and nothing he's saying about needing her is true - and it also highlights how he seems to be genuinely convinced he's in the right even after his girlfriend "killed herself" to escape him

Anna has a really powerful voice! She has done a lot of singing in the last fuck ton of years! A lot of practice under her belt- pun intended!
Her head voice, emotions, range, and belt- it's all gorgeous!
I love how anna made it seem like JD was actually sad, devistated and on the verge of tears to find Veronica-something the original never really could. And how his anger and "crazyness" still takes over. This is the most amazing cover of this song :D

I mean JD was all these things really lots of anger lots of sad and seasoned with madness in the song and generally the play . yes in the original, and he was really good at selling the idea he wanted her alive and if Veronica hadn't already seen JD suicide set up the I think she would've opened the door.

What I love about heathers is that it accurately portrays later teenage romance. Teenagers do honestly end up being like… I love you so much you’re all that I need! And the more mentally ill they are, the worse that type of behavior gets. It’s both heart wrenching and satisfying. I hate loving it.
Yeah because most teenagers will shoot up the school for the person they love.

As a writer inspired by music, this speaks to me. Ive never seen the play, but in hearing other versions of this song, something about a powerful female voice makes it more emotional and deep. I'm writing a paranormal fantasy romance between two females. This song, in many parts, resonates with my story, revolving around an entire city under mind control, with only a select few able to see the truth. Thank you for covering it, and many other songs, (Hellfire is a personal favorite) as they have inspired many aspect of my writing.
As a fellow (admittedly amateur) writer in high school, this just seems like some girl that took a breakup way too seriously and decided to commit terrorism against unwitting kids. Think of a school shooting, however morbid that thought may be. And remember that due to the contents of the note, she's doing this because she doesn't want them to enter the workforce. It just speaks to the notion that while yes, hurt teenagers and adults can go into radical, extremist, violent right-wing groups, they can also go into radical, extremist, and violent LEFT-WING groups.
Hello, I am a fellow writer here; Most of the time, I'm not too inspired off of music. But specifically, *specifically* this cover, is just amazing, along with the emotions stabbed into each part definitely has caused me to create a complete maniac scene because of it.

That was my first thought too, but I pretty quickly realized a lot of it REALLY wouldn't work. Imagine "Dead Boy Walking" with a guy doing what Veronica does in the regular version. Big yikes. (I was actually typing up a comment saying Anna should suggest just that to Caleb Hyles, with her guesting as fem-JD, when I realized how extremely creepy the scenario becomes when you flip the genders. The only reason Veronica breaking into a dude's room in the middle of the night to wake him up and demand sex is *sorta*-okay is because of the default power imbalance between the sexes in our society; putting the shoe on the other foot makes the guy a monster.)

Knocked it out of the park once again, Anna. This not only my favorite song from Heathers, it's one of my all time favorite songs from any musical because of the sheer range of emotions throughout it. You captured those emotions PERFECTLY. That shouted 'Veronica' gave me actual chills.

@@lxcy0190 and yes that is true. And while I'm not saying that people without adhd don't get hyperfixations I am just saying that hyperfixations are one of my diagnosed symptoms. I'm not meaning to say that other people do not get interested in things. However due to my adhd I am more likely to get over the top obsessed with specific things for a short amount of time before moving onto other things a few weeks later. For example my current fixations are Ride the cyclone and the marauders.

Anna is awesome and I liked how she conveyed how sick minded and insane JD and the classmates are in heathers actually were. Love isn’t obsession over someone to the point where you hurt people and wanting to kill themselves or their loved one. they’re supposed to care about people because God is love. Love is supposed to be selfless and not desire for such evil acts. This song is an example of what love is not.
