- Hello everyone! This week I sang Poor Unfortunate Souls from The Little Mermaid!
WE’RE KICKING OFF HALLOWEEN MONTH GOOD AND STRONG 🦇
October is the month I most look forward to but also dread because of all the prep but this year is DIFFERENT. I am PREPARED. Most uploads for this month are already finished or well on their way to being there. Scheduling and time management are not my strong suit so the fact that I’m about 75% through all of the work and it’s only the 2nd of October is really quite wonderful :, )
I have a whole month planned of spooky songs to get you in the spooky mood! Next week will be a cover of I Put A Spell On You from Hocus Pocus! And the week after that will be They’re Only Human From Death Note:The Musical ft. Caleb Hyles!!! so many fun things

ursula did interfere… she had her eels prevent Ariel and Eric from kissing during kiss the girl and then she put a spell on Eric to prevent him falling in love with Ariel. The Broadway show is a LITTLE better with this as Ursula only has her eels electrocute the boat during kiss the girl and she doesn’t do anything else but wait after that. But she actively does prevent Ariel and Eric from kissing.
This Ursula variant doesn't NEED Ariel's voice, she can charm Prince Eric all by herself 😁😁😁😍😍

In my opinion, Ursala was the fairest villain. She drew up a contract, legally binding. She did it the right way

Ursula also made it clear what the consequences would be if Ariel didn't manage to get the true loves kiss. Gotta give her props for not hiding it from the mermaid or being devious about it.

I love how you actually fit in the sort of layers of the song, that it is about a slow build up rather than Ursula blasting "I am evil EVIL!" from the get go. You even show it through your artwork. She starts acting saintly, drops her facade a bit, then goes full Ursula.

To be completely and utterly fair, Ursula did in fact warn Ariel of all possible outcomes if she didn’t fulfill her side of the deal… so in fact, Ursula wasn’t really THAT evil, she was just a good business woman
she wasn't a "good" business woman. She was a business woman who wanted her revenge on the king by taking over the sea. And yes Ariel was 18 in the second movie when she signed the contract so it was completely legal, it was her fault for not reading it. Even though Ursula rushed her to sign the contract she already warned her of all the possible outcomes if she fails. She didn't say that she won't interfere and she didn't rlly do all that much agains the contract other than putting her eels to prevent the prince from kissing Ariel and in the end taking a human form to make the prince fall in love, so she was the fairest villain ever, damn it she can even be a lawyer at this point. Who knows maybe she tricked Ariel because she loved the prince too😂😂😂ofc I'm just joking with this one
OMG i just realized that while Ursula was singing, she highlighted how the "men above" don't like women expressing their opinion with "on land its much preferred for ladies to not say a word" which is so fitting because the original story was set in the 18th century.
This is even more proof that Anna can play both the good AND bad roles in Disney movies, we love a versatile queen

I love the fact that when the image changes, her hair changes from curls to waves, and curls tend to be used in some art peices as trust or truthful while waves are used as lying and manipulative, just a fun detail i really liked-

I mean.. everybody views Ursula as a villain, but tbh, she's just a businesswoman. Sure she's a little sketch but like.. She even said in her song, "but on the whole, I've been a saint", some people may say she's a liar but it's literally just business. She gives you something, and in turn you give payment. If you don't pay her for her services, you pay in other ways. It's like getting something from a store, but not paying for it. It's stealing essentially, so if you can't pay her, you're stealing her services from her, and she turns you into one of those.. shriveled things, it's like jail time. She's not evil, she's just doing business, and you always expect someone to pay you for doing business with you, if not, you either don't give them the product, or if they already have the product, you go to jail, or pay a fine.

For years I've had my own version of The Little Mermaid story stored in the back of my mind in which the Sea Witch presents herself as another mermaid with a "false" face and voice, almost like an angler fish's light, with her real voice being this creepy guttural whisper sound and your cover suits that so perfectly it's uncanny! Almost like her real voice starts coming through as the song amps up. Beautiful rendition, I have no idea how I didn't stumble upon this sooner.

This is really great. True enough to the original to be satisfying, but you found ways to add flair and sizzle that elevated it to beyond just a fan cover or karaoke. Your voice is gorgeous like a Disney princess, but your delivery still sells the character and darker story of the song.
