- On November 8th, 2022, officers responded to a walmart theft. The suspect was seen leaving the store in a black leggings. Officers were soon able to locate her but she was very uncooperative when they approached her. The woman continued to scream and yell at the officers. She began talking nonsense with the officer. She was showing no signs of stopping the abuse. A short while later, she was transferred to another secure vehicle. The female was charged with theft and battery upon a Leo.

So long as we choose to not require in hospital drug treatment, we need to jail them for their crimes. We have the right to NOT be victimized by druggies!!!
How about schizophrenics? Or even people with "acute obsessive compulsive disorder"? Or dissociative personality disorder? What's your expert opinion on these other mental disorders? Should law enforcement use the same "lock em up, f**k em" policy you suggest for substance abuse disorder?
The US's system of incarcerating non violent drug offenders isn't going to change, the US healthcare system isn't going to miraculously care about drug addicts. People who need help, seek help, even desperately want help; in our current justice system, aren't going to get help. Simple, low level, non violent, drug possession offenders will be put into prison. Most counties, jurisdictions, states, and federal sentencing policies, don't include a diversion program or option for treatment. Those people with substance abuse disorder will get sent to prison, AKA criminal school, and will come out of the incarceration system a better and more well connected, legitimate criminal than they were when they entered the system. It's easy for you to say, "if WE don't force them to go to treatment, the they DESERVE to go to prison". Treatment isn't even in the equation in most cases, and I bet if it was your son, daughter, brother, sister, mom, uncle, etc.. etc... you probably wouldnt be so final in your opinion... Hmmm?

It was only when I had consequences for my behaviour that things ‘got bad enough’ for me to address getting clean and sober… when I finally did, I was then able to ‘properly’ address my mental health with medication, therapy and behavioural changes
I am now 15 years sober
Addiction starts as a choice.. trying to find a ‘quick fix’ for problems instead of doing what many other adults do (who have far worse lives often than we do) and taking the road to health that’s doesn’t involve making everybody else around them hostage to their behaviour as we do
There is NOT a treatment like AA or Addiction Rehabs for people suffering NOT BY CHOICE from serious mental illnesses like Schizophrenia.. @@Elfishery

One day when I was with my mom. Homeless guy come in with shoes that were barely together. Since he had no money. He try to steal them. A employee caught him. She ask for the shoes back. He didn't fight or yell. He literally gave them back. So he left the store. My mom and I made sure to buy the shoes. We were able to find him. The way he acted made me sad. He had thank my mom. He started crying and saying thank you. He said all I wanted was just shoes. He gave my mom hug. He is still homeless by choice. But he seems to be doing better. He always thanked my mom for his shoes. He will tell her that he had the shoes still.
I can't fathom why anyone would *choose* to be homeless, especially if you have to try to *steal* to get by.

@@bluedragonfly8139Once you fall in a bad spiral, things kinda escalate really easy. Lots of bad experiences, some drugs, and being homeless make you lose touch with society. Is not long before you prefer to be on the street on your own, rather than in company, because so many times company was trouble. Soon, you don't even know you have choices or opportunities to better yourself, you are totally detached from society, wich you see as an enemy.

All we CAN do is to ask for the item(s) back( and thats ONLY after the Store employee actually WITNESS these CRIMINALS taking the items. Theres often a certain "M.O." they use; They definitely do NOT want assistance. They are often in the store for up to an hour; they are WAITING for the employee(s) to be distracted/busy, and as soon as you are busy "Poof" they disappear.🤔 One "Gentleman" brings his young daughter with him & conceals all the stolen items in the Hood of her sweatshirt. Thats teaching kids, right? How can that child ever know right from wrong? My Boss said that there's zero that we can do about the problem. 🤷♀️ Soon everything will have to be ordered online;(and the former Shoplifters will become Porch Pirates).😔

Why don't people who cite the 5th amendment understand it? It guards against *unreasonable* search and seizure. Taking back things you stole isn't unreasonable, neither is requiring you to identify yourself, especially when you're the subject of an investigation.
