very thorough and clear explanation. Thank you very much for taking the time to help those of us who respect and strive to emulate your skill. Grateful. Scott
Awesome video, very helpful. I couldn't figure out how to get the reservoir off the pump and this video showed me how. I changed my reservoir, flushed the system and the power steering is nice and quiet once again.
Appreciate the video man. I'm having some kind of power steering issue right now in my 07 x164 and if replacing the o rings and running some leak fix stuff through the reservoir doesn't work I'm going to need to replace the pump, so I appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing this with us it's a beneficial video and very well taken. Can you show me how to remove the pulley from the pump? mine has it's pulley broken and I don't know how to replace it. Thanks again!!
did you lift the car and remove the splash pan below? Or can this be reached with it in place?? And my hose attaches with a banjo bolt (2004 wagon) not the fitting yours shows. I see this is a W210 car here, came up under my search for W211
yep not a w211, I have the 2004 w211 and its very similar but banjo bolt at the outlet for high pressure. The procedure is good and no, no need to remove the pan unless you are doing the high pressure hose to the rack as well.
Thank you very much for the video, it helped me a lot. I would like to tell you that before installing the oil pump and then the reservoir, I first assembled them outside because it was really difficult for me to connect them while the pump was installed, that way, it was easy for me later To install the strap I had to ask for help, I couldn't put the new strap on, it's very difficult for me, could you give me some strategy! Thanks again for the video!
My M113 does not come with that type of banjo bolt for the output of the replacement pump. It comes with just a standard banjo bolt hose, which does not reach the fitting on the new pump. Where did you get that 90° hydraulic fitting?
Great video but couldn't you just connect the resevoir onto the new pump instead of putting the pump on then the resevoir? I only ask because its seems like that may save a good amount of time and energy? the instructions/diy on pelican parts and 1 other RUclips step by step video both say to switch the resevoir over to the new pump and then go through the reverse process.. any info on that would be appreciated for any future diy'er
Great video. My pump work good if i added oil, when i turning steering wheel, the oil start leaking over the top of reservoir,so do i need replace only gasket or reservoir or maybe oil pressure hose please?
well done so helpful and easy he guides you through the job step by step you will feel like a pro after this watching this video i it helped me find the bolts when i couldn't find those last 2 bolts to remove the pump thank you very much
FCP Euro. Hello this video was great but the parts in the back of the pump broke off of my engine. I'm not sure what I can do to fix this problem. Both parts on my engine in the back of the power steering pump where the bolts are located are broke off. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to get those part back on my engine so I can install my power steering unit.
That high pitched almost tea kettle type noise the engine makes.. is that normal? i just changed my power steering pump and not only does it whine louder but I also have this high pitched beep noise. Could that be air coming through one of the power steering hoses?
It's hard to say, we didn't pay for this repair and it would really depend on the mechanic. I believe the billing time for the pump is 3 hours. Hope that guides you in the right direction.
I found a leak in the steering rack of my 1999 E320. One of the steering damper is leaking. I tried torquing it to specs, but still leaks. I know I can replace the two seals inisde. However, it also looks like that the "clearance adjustment" chamber is also leaking. This is the chamber with the star screw head, directly under the two steering damper chambers. Is there a seal in the clearance adjustment chamber that is owner replaceable? I couldn't find it on your parts website. Also, I noticed that regular tightening of the steering damper screws on the steering rack is recommended by Mercedes, so it seems like that maybe leaks at these locations are not uncommon? If you guys ever get a chance on replacing the seals on the steering rack, would really appreciate seeing video on it. No one else has it on Internet.
nice video. I have an04 clk320 needs a new pump. Is this similar? Also I found a rebuilt one with lifetime warranty (just needs to swap the pulley.) Are the rebuilt just as good as new? Thanks
Procedure should be identical, as they would use the same base engine yes. Have seen many rebuilt units with good warranties hold up very well, so as long as you are following the same procedure and adding new clean fluid you should be fine. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to reach out to me directly, my name is Mike and my email is mike@fcpeuro.com, I'm always happy to help.
helllo . its so nice video .ı have one question , ı have mercedes 1996 e320 and ı have to change steering pump and I find 1998 e430 stering pump for replace my car . 1998 e430 steerıng pump can fit my car ? serial numbers is different but some people say compatible some said not . what do you think about that ? thanks
This is a really nice video with great explanation and photography. Was the leak just in the power steering pump? Is replacement of the reservoir recommended whenever pump is replaced? I also have 1999 E320--I think this is the car in your video, right? I just found that my power steering fluid is low. There is still fluid in reservoir, but it doesn't touch the dipstick. I've never added (or even checked) power steering fluid in the car car before, in 15 years. I will do a fluid flush. But I don't see any leaks. I will jack up car to take closer look. But is it possible that I may not have a leak and fluid has just coagulated in system?. Thanks.
The leak was only coming from the pump on this model and all that was needed was the pump, however since you are essentially flushing the system of old power steering fluid it is best to replace the tank while you are at it, just to prevent any contaminants or old fluid from mixing in.
+Jeanna Miller Changing the tensioner is not necessary as part of the pump replacement, but if you are looking to replace the tensioner it is good to do while the pump is removed.
FCP Euro Thanks for your prompt reply, yes I noticed that even though the hardware for the pump is basically the same, the way it is configured is different (ground wire, etc). Otherwise this is an excellent.post and I do appreciate your help, thanks again!!
The belt tensioner portion of this install appears to be identical, however the set up for the power steering pump is different so different procedures leading up to that. I don't however, have the specifics on the actual walkthrough.
Just a torx bolt holding this pump to the bracket, nothing underneath besides a hose with a quick connect clamp and O-ring, if you are leaking I would think it would be coming from that lower hose, or where that hose meets up to the reservoir. No fluid would be coming out from that lower bolt.
My power steering went out I think it's the pump but not sure did some reading most people have the same issue due to the same reason doing donuts. The power steering only works at 2rpm and gets hard when under can it be the power steering pump
I'd caution against using Meyle and Febi parts. They're quality is variable. I know it's easy to spend other people's money but I would prefer MB parts or those after-market parts from the quality suppliers. We're doing some suspension work on a 300CE and most parts are MB with Lemfoerder for some rear control arms. Not sure about steering pumps but ZF companies might be worth looking at. All the best and thank you for the video.
FCP Euro okay the E55 is different there oil lines up top near the filter that are in the way do you know if the bolts for the power steering pump or only in the back or is there any in the front E55 AMG
Unfortunately I do not have the bolt size available. Be sure to have a full set of external torx sockets as well as wrenches in a variety of sizes from 10mm-17mm before starting the job.
There was no need, as there was only a small amount of fluid left, fresh fluid was added and the whole system was bled. You will not get all the old fluid out of the system a small amount will remain in the system, this is normal.
It's a bear getting the back bolts out . online the parts are way cheaper than AutoZone . I got mine for under 100 bucks for my E320 My pump.went out it sounded like a rod knock on the engine .I thought I blew the motor

very thorough and clear explanation. Thank you very much for taking the time to help those of us who respect and strive to emulate your skill. Grateful.

We’re losing dealership sales with this one 🎉🎉🎉 thanks buddy your a scholar
Thank you. Your video was very helpful. It saved me about $400.00.
You made it so easy to follow your directions. Wonderful job. Thx.
Very nice and great commentary while working. Would be great if all the automotive videos were done this good.
Awesome video, very helpful. I couldn't figure out how to get the reservoir off the pump and this video showed me how. I changed my reservoir, flushed the system and the power steering is nice and quiet once again.
+Jeff Brown I'm glad you found it helpful --Kyle
Thank you so so so so much for sharing and showing us to do it. Much appreciated.
Alexandre Richez Glad we could help --Kyle
Great complete video! I learned a lot from you. Great Job! Thanks!
Appreciate the video man. I'm having some kind of power steering issue right now in my 07 x164 and if replacing the o rings and running some leak fix stuff through the reservoir doesn't work I'm going to need to replace the pump, so I appreciate it.
Excellent video. Far superior to most car repair videos.
Terrific photography. I could clearly see all steps.
Thanks, Everett! Glad to hear that!
Thanks for sharing this with us it's a beneficial video and very well taken. Can you show me how to remove the pulley from the pump? mine has it's pulley broken and I don't know how to replace it.
Thanks again!!
Great Video and very helpful. Thanks for posting it!
Sometimes air in the system can take quite some time to chase out. As long as the fittings are torqued correctly, keep bleeding the system.
did you lift the car and remove the splash pan below? Or can this be reached with it in place?? And my hose attaches with a banjo bolt (2004 wagon) not the fitting yours shows. I see this is a W210 car here, came up under my search for W211

yes for who may read, I did the hose and the pan and rack didnt allow room.
Thank you very much for the video, it helped me a lot. Thank you. What's the purpose of the c lip? To push against the o ring? Having trouble Getting it back in then it leaks.
This needs to be bumped up. It is impossible to get a secure fitment any other way.
Great video. My pump work good if i added oil, when i turning steering wheel, the oil start leaking over the top of reservoir,so do i need replace only gasket or reservoir or maybe oil pressure hose please?
well done so helpful and easy he guides you through the job step by step you will feel like a pro after this watching this video
i
it helped me find the bolts when i couldn't find those last 2 bolts to remove the pump thank you very much
Awesome, glad you were able to get the job done Louis!
Take a look at the links in the description, it's about $163 for the pump and $22 for the reservoir. Hope that helps.
FCP Euro. Hello this video was great but the parts in the back of the pump broke off of my engine. I'm not sure what I can do to fix this problem. Nice and clear lots of detail . 😀
Well done, thank you
My steering pump and is missing a bolt. Maybe more since I cant see the back yet. Any idea where I can buy more bolts from?
Where can I get the clip from?
That high pitched almost tea kettle type noise the engine makes.. is that normal? i just changed my power steering pump and not only does it whine louder but I also have this high pitched beep noise. Could that be air coming through one of the power steering hoses?
How different would this be from a ml-320? Great video by the way

very educative. Thank you regards
Hi any idea if this is the same exact procedure for the ml55 amg?
Excellent video, this is a great help. Thank you!
You're welcome Marko! Glad it helped out.
I read about 'bleeding' system after swap. Is this true?
That was awesome!
Excellent video. If you can give what tools and sizes of sockets are needed for the job in the beginning of the video then it will be perfect.
Hello Hung, please feel free to email us at products@fcpeuro.com. Our Mercedes Product Manager will be happy to provide you with that information.
Is there a way to drain the fluid first ?
What size torx did you use. Any extension for the back bolts?
Wow this entire job takes 20 minutes? I'm curious how many hours of labor a Mercedes dealership would charge lol. Awesome video, thanks for the help!
Happy we could be of some help with this!
Like the video as it is pretty much the same removal process to the CLK430.
Great job mate

FCP Euro Great Thank you!! Is a new reservoir usually recommended?? Would it make a dif if I used the old one?
is this the same on the CL600, can't find any videos on the power steering removal anywhere.
Great job!
Awesome vid!
hi is there a way of getting pulley wheel off my ne pump didn't have pulley on it
Danke tolle Arbeit
Very good video.Thank you.

Hello, I'm showing the pumps as different between the 2 models.
thank for return
Great video.. thx for the details
😀
This is a really nice video with great explanation and photography.

Is there a seal on the back of the power steering pump on the 2002 Mercedes Benz ML320?
+Wendy Frisbee In order to help I would like some more info about what you're referring to. Feel free to shoot an email to KyleB@fcpeuro.com.
Do you have to change the drive belt tensioner as part of the pump replacement?
+Jeanna Miller Changing the tensioner is not necessary as part of the pump replacement, but if you are looking to replace the tensioner it is good to do while the pump is removed.
@@fcpeurotankyou for the advise
that was very helpful thank you.
Are there any significant differences on doing this in a 2006 ML 500?
There's a lot of differences actually, the engine configurations are completely different so I would not follow this particular video for the repair.
FCP Euro
Thanks for your prompt reply, yes I noticed that even though the hardware for the pump is basically the same, the way it is configured is different (ground wire, etc). Otherwise this is an excellent.post and I do appreciate your help, thanks again!!
could these steps be used for a 2001 C320, w203 ?
Is the 320 similar to the 430?
Does this also apply to later models like the w211 chassis?
The belt tensioner portion of this install appears to be identical, however the set up for the power steering pump is different so different procedures leading up to that. I don't however, have the specifics on the actual walkthrough.
what kind of bolts did you say were at the bottom? I have a 95 c220 and the bolt came off, now the fluid has completely drained out
Just a torx bolt holding this pump to the bracket, nothing underneath besides a hose with a quick connect clamp and O-ring, if you are leaking I would think it would be coming from that lower hose, or where that hose meets up to the reservoir. No fluid would be coming out from that lower bolt.
thanks
Thank you!
Stellar!
Hi, Is there an internal filter in power stering tank for CLS W219 ot C219 ? Part: A000 460 22 83
My power steering went out I think it's the pump but not sure did some reading most people have the same issue due to the same reason doing donuts. The power steering only works at 2rpm and gets hard when under can it be the power steering pump
Doing donuts is both hard on the pump and the fluid. It does sound like its time to replace yours
+FCP Euro thanks very helpful now I just gotta change it myself

FCP Euro okay the E55 is different there oil lines up top near the filter that are in the way do you know if the bolts for the power steering pump or only in the back or is there any in the front E55 AMG
Very good video!!! Thanks!!!
what size is the line/flare wrench bolty are all of the pump's bolts all size 10 torx?
Unfortunately I do not have the bolt size available. Be sure to have a full set of external torx sockets as well as wrenches in a variety of sizes from 10mm-17mm before starting the job.
I have change the servopump but there is still air in the system .
how to change the filter on the self level suspention fluid tank
will these instructions be same for 2003 ml500?
+Krishna Bansal You can use this video as a reference for the ML500 also --Kyle
we need bottles like that for all the fluid that pretty cool
Is a mercedes m350.2003 the same
Hi Roger, the M350 is different, however, the process may be similar.
Extremely helpful! Thank you very much for video
Please share s600 replacment
wow that was nice to see thank you for the detailed view
You're welcome!
Pro job bro
MERCEDES E320 steering wheel very hard to turn when speed is slow
Why Used oil has not been draining before?
There was no need, as there was only a small amount of fluid left, fresh fluid was added and the whole system was bled. You will not get all the old fluid out of the system a small amount will remain in the system, this is normal.
Ok thank
I need to replace mine for my 2002 CL500 can someone direct me to the right video?
Donald E there aren't any
Donald E thanks man
Power steering pump. Does a pump of a E320 fit on a E500 petrol V8. Or is it different?
We did not receive the E500 W210 in the USA Market, unfortunately I do not know if the pump is compatible
where is mike from?
He's from Montenegro
It's a bear getting the back bolts out . online the parts are way cheaper than AutoZone .
I got mine for under 100 bucks for my E320
My pump.went out it sounded like a rod knock on the engine .I thought I blew the motor
Ok this oel pompe direction assisté hydraulique pression complication change
That tensioner pulley had a huge dent on the belt surface...
Good Job...., but: torque for pump bolts?? You did not change o-ring for pressurehose?? And you did not oil o-ring for reservoir??/ Just wondering....
Serbian mechanic it sounds like They’re good.
GOOD GOOD GOOD GOOD
Salamaleikym rahmet thanks
I send a lot comments on the other channel some post nonsense 😢😢
👏👏👏👏
All those bolts and no torque wrench .... Just finger tight... What could possibly go wrong
That’s a pain in the ass bruh 😢😢
You are mumbling not speaking >>> Learn to speak clearly
Wow! Well explained! Great job!
Thanks, Matt!
